This Omlet chicken coop door is very sturdy and stable- it is definitely a well-built design. I found out that Omlet built over 200 different prototypes and went through 3 years of development to arrive at this final coop door design.
What we like about this automatic chicken coop door:
We like that the controller box is hardwired to the door, and that it can be mounted where you have easy access to it. I thought that was really great because sometimes you want to program it differently but you might not want to go right into the run to program it at the door.
We also love how confident we feel using this door. We are relying on this door to keep our flock safe, and that it won't hurt anyone, and with its built in safety features and the light sensor opening and closing the door automatically in the morning and evening, we feel very good trusting this unit with our feathered babies.
What else do I like about this coop door design?
-Reiterating here that it has a safety feature so it won't close on any birds (A must have in my opinion...)
-Optional coop light that can come with it
-Another option to hardwire the auto coop door in rather than use the 4 AA batteries
-Automatic door works in up to -20C (-4F) (It worked great when I installed it on a -18C day in the video!)
-Has 3 settings: a light sensor setting (opens and closes with sunrise and sunset - my preference), a timed setting (to open and close at certain times of the day) and a manual mode to open and close it yourself
-The general feel of it - this is a sturdy, well-built and designed door. My husband and I keep talking about how solid it is!
