You just dont know how to use them,at Imperial the battle is all about siege and jan is the best when cover for siege ,no kind of calvary can touch your great bombard when there is jan surround them and they can even repair your siege if they take some damage from enemy siege ,they dont do much in 1vs1 game but in the team game its just too hard to break that even with mass french royal knight,they are design for that not for shooting some MAA

However Jans were absolute garbage before the buffs.
Now, after training time reduce ,unit type change ( they are not taking attack bonus from light cav anymore) and +%25 attack speed buff i think finally they are kinda ok.Still need some touch like +%25 ranged dmg taken or something.
But Great Bombard definetly requires some love.

I've come to terms with the fact that I like this game and I'm just not good at it.
It's really impressive how balanced it is and how each of the civilizations have different play styles.
More than anything that makes me say the above is how they've created little mini games around the map and created a flow that involves play in most ages.

maa actually counter jannies. I've seen the battle simulations on it. Jannies are pretty much a donso. Ranged cav killers.
I love both of these players they have the most original playstyle along with Kasva
Beasty dug up some stats at various skills levels, and turns out the Ottomans are consistently above average. they're even amongst the best in gold and diamond league! Ottomans were even first, as in the best civ at that skill level, in one of the brackets showed of in that video! (I think diamond? Not sure anymore though)
So... I dunno where this cliché that Ottomans and/or Janissaries are bad even comes from. They're actually doing way better than HRE overall, and nobody says HRE is weak! XD
I'll say this as an ottoman fan, it's based on the salty Turkish fan base, that doesn't like how janissaries are weak in many cases and how great bombard is not the best in many scenarios cuz of cultural attachment to history
@@laputa4825 What's funny is that in real life those bombards could only be used a handful of times per day and they were incapable of being moved reliably.
I think people forget what else the ottomans do really well and focus too much on the bombard and janissaries
@@nobseating6163@laputa4825 I don't claim to be any kind of pro gamer, but having a ranged unit with bonus against cavalry always felt very strong to me in this game. Catching the horsemen or knights that harass your villagers is a consistent problem for almost any civ, as cavalry harass is very common and effective tactic in this game.
Janissaries do, in my experience, a great job dealing with that cavalry harass, as they, unlike spearmen or even your own cavalry, are guaranteed to at least land a few shots with bonus damage against those retreating horsemen and knights. Janissaries probably suffer from direct comparison with hand cannoneer, but really those do not fit the same role. Janissaries are meant to defend villagers or siege against cavalry attacks. They are not a "general purpose" unit like cannoneer is.
Omg I would love a series of game videos. My favorite SC2 replays to watch are ones that include all the games in one cast. It also makes it hard to know exactly what will happen in the earlier games because there so much time left in the video. I understand that is more work for one video but very much preferable to me.

@@APcraft747 Point is its dissapointing that civ's powerspike is not in Imperial Age like other late game civs like China or HRE. I would rather have an Ottoman weak at early game and strong at late game too like many people.

Firearms in feudal age are strange but most civs have to wait Castle age to make sword infantry.....hittites used iron swords 2500 years before Castles....

You missed how well Bee kept his units alive. The instant mosque and iman he build when he hit tier 3 had immence value!
Frankly moments with no UI i feel blind for game info for that time, and worst when it’s in a middle of a fight

The Mista is a very intelligent playe and the best strategist in the game. But, I am not sure about the tower placement and why not arrow slits an a a "mini half or full fort" around the tower. Mista had the resources and be did not have enough to crack it economically viable.
