They added a grill, also now VSH is now playable, still broken but they’ll fix it soon.
Also in terms of Steam Deck, I’m sorry I never knew I could piss off so many with calling it Nintendo Switch 2 💀
I myself am not a huge fan of hand held consoles, same with the VR. Due to TF2 being one of their main IP’s you would think they would enlist a lot of people making a bot fix but nope. Anyways have a great summer people, I’m enjoying it. Much love

I mean I think calling a Steam Deck a Nintendo Switch 2 is a good thing, it implies it's a generation ahead of the switch while still having Nintendo's excellent engineering charm.

It is what it is. It’s a Switch bigger, bolder, giant black cock brother.
Awesome device. So much use case and versatility. It enables me to play Steam games at places I don’t even think I can play games.

Venice really feels like something from Overwatch: Those large rooms with simple geometry, all flanks are long hallways, lots of sightlines and very choky chokepoints, like they are designed to push under ultimates spam
Given where Overwatch 2 is right now, I don’t blame its player base for searching for alternatives.

Funny because today it got announced that overwatch is coming to steam, so now tf2 and overwatch will coincide in the same platform.

My favorite part of the new maps is that A LOT of them feature playable water areas so that Pyroshark is even possible
absolutely, I especially like the part of phoenix where the cart goes through the water

I had so much fun as a pyroshark in Sulfur, I was the only one protecting the final point just with my flamethrower and neon sign. Surprised I got top score through it.
Throwing enemies and chasing them down is funny
I really like the last bit of Phoenix, it gets wonderfully tense.

It's so weird the SUMMER update add 2 Japanese maps that has Pink Sakura tree which is bloom in SPRING.

Might be me but all the new maps have a garden warfare feel to them and i just like them, they're very cool, but that just may be because it's something new.
About the cosmetics, they're subtle, well more than the popular ones we have now, i always have issues with flashy cosmetic because it's like putting a target where my head is for competent snipers. Jellyfish fields is definetly my favorite.

All these maps deserve to stay in TF2. God I love this update so much, I wasn't playing TF2 for 3 years.

The houseplant and janitor have really outdone themselves
Venice is the only map i would it should go away, its just a huge mess of a design that it would fit better in literally another game like csgo or overwatch
They stated the community fixes are coming in a seperate update later, which was confirmed.
Here's hoping some of the patches fix the god awful optimization this game has

Valve just needs to put more effort into making sure aspects of an update even work, but also not just lie to us in terms of COMMUNITY FIXES. I want more summer updates so we don't just have holiday updates shoveled to us.
They didn't lie about them it's just that they take more time to implement since it's not cosmetic so there can be security concern and it's based on older code than live game

It's good to have updates like these. Especially for players who have stopped playing and want something fresh to come back to.

I can't even begin to describe just how good the warpaint case was this year. Sure, it could've used a bit more variety, but it's the first case in what feels like an eternity that actually made me interested in getting war paints.
When I saw the brown and not so saturated warpaints I immediately thought about you. I went on youtube right away, good to see :D
But the steam decks always top selling on steam, think people do care about it. However I agree with praising the tf2 devs who work on the game in their spare time because the people higher would greatly prefer if they worked on other projects, how fun!
reading those discord messages of the warpaint-slop-loving zesty-despising players reacting to the new warpaints was very funny and enjoyable
I think I might hold onto some of my war paint cases from this update, considering how well this case went over it will probably end up selling for quite a bit later on, I mean, smissmas 2017 warpaint cases are 15 bucks on the steam marketplace
Instructions
Season the beef with salt and pepper.
[3 pounds chuck roast, Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper]
Add the flour to a shallow bowl and dredge the beef chunks in the flour, coating all sides.
[¼ cup all-purpose flour]
Heat the oil and butter in a large Dutch oven set over medium-high heat. Add the beef, in batches if needed, and sear on all sides until golden brown. Remove from the pot and set aside.
[2 tablespoons vegetable oil,2 tablespoons unsalted butter]
Reduce the heat to medium and add the onions and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
[2 onions,4 cloves garlic]
Add the vinegar and scrape up any browned bits from the pan. Stir in the tomato paste, and cook for another minute.
[2 tablespoons red wine vinegar,1 ½ tablespoons tomato paste]
Stir in the red wine, beef broth, water, bay leaves, thyme, and seared beef. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 1 ½-2 hours or until the beef is tender.
[1 cup red wine,3 cups low sodium beef broth,2 cups water,2 bay leaves,1 teaspoon dried thyme]
Add the carrots and potatoes, cover, and continue to cook until the vegetables are tender, about 30-60 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

people hating these "simple" war paints makes a lot more sense when you think about how many people are running around with every cosmetic they own painted hot pink or lime green

first time i ever bought a couple warpaint keys was this update, because all of them look great and i'll be happy no matter what i get.
The thing is that instead of being happy that we got an update, you are making the maps "better"
Why is everybody so divided on the super over the top war paints and the simple realistic ones? They both can look great imo and I would absolutely use both types.
One thing in Sulfur, when you use a low config or sumn, the signs showing A or B is just GONE

DX8 does that from what i understand of the dude in my match that had that problem.

Valve treats Tf2 similar to how US railroads are run. They don't think that investment into it will return anything, which is clearly not the case

THANK YOU for appreciating simplicity, i saw so many people shitting on the tf2 case unusual for "just being a png" but honestly when it comes to tf2s art style and colour scheme it fits beautifully on so many cosmetics and loadouts
Although i gotta say because of how low regard it is i managed to pick up a great hat with it for like 20 bucks so, cant really complain
Seeing the people who have been poisoning TF2 with their garbage cosmetics to milk this game now mald about not getting their dogshit in this update is probably the most satisfying part of this whole update to me. Finally some good food.

bomb carrier is good on the smaller modles like the detanator
Cashworks is by far my favourite map. Also reckoner is just metalworks 2. And sharkbay is too small for me, the reason tf2 is so fun for me is how multiple different fights can take place on the map to decide the outcome. Sharkbay doesn't really play to that strength.
The comments about the index and the deck were a bit tone deaf lol. I agree with just about everything else but as much at the TF2 community cares about TF2, (which should absolutely get attention from valve) that does not mean that "nobody cares" about valve's other projects. It just means that valve needs to allocate their resources more appropriately. :P
Ok now hold up, the Steam Deck actually did very well in sales and does more then the Switch so calling it a "Nintendo Switch 2 that nobody cares about" is gonna put you on a hitlist for everybody bud.
Venice is literally an overwatch map, speaking of which, overwatch 2 is coming to steam so get ready for that.

Finally, some Warpaints I can actually get behind.
As someone who lives in Arizona, I would have rather them call it Flagstaff, as that is what the map strongly reminds me of with the mountainous areas and the tall trees. They did a great job capturing the feeling of it, so I'll give them that.
Also, I'm annoyed that phongs aren't enabled by default.

I love the video Monkey, truly a great overview on this update, with some things I didn't even consider. But a quick suggestion on one thing:
I'm unsure if you're the type of person who scripts their videos like some youtubers, whether you do a full script, a half-script, or just a few ideas to cover.
But to the point, when you're doing a "video essay" like this, I would recommend saying stuff like "my opinion" or "i think" less often. Sure you can say it a few times through the video, but say it too much and it seems almost defensive. The viewers are meant to understand it is your opinion as it is your video (or your essay), so you don't need to say those fillers.
I need to say those words or else they’ll start drama on Twitter and I have to login there and defuse it sorry :(

Venice is such an overwatch map, it feels like it got ripped from an overwatch beta file.
Apparently they fixed the spawn issue on Sulfur
we need more varied maps with perhaps odd and unusual geometry, ill be very disappointed if every map gets "Fixed" to be the same boringly perfectly optimized "ideal" map
its also a fact that tf2 youtubers have the power to meme certain opinions into being, since people who dont know better and cant form their own will just repeat what they hear, so i worry that people will start pretending and telling themselves that THEY want the map to be perfectly optimized when they really dont, they just wanna sound smart because some guy with fake 'authority' said what theyre repeating
which means people will demand things they dont want and bad changes will be made
its worth experimenting with unusual map design
Pacific peacemaker works super well with the grenade launcher, just putting that out there

Team serviced is my favorite warpaint ever, I just enjoy team colored stuff!
The TF2 Color Palette is fucking godlike and if every single one of my weapons can be that RED red or that BLU blue I'm taking it!
(Other than that, fine update, even if VSH fucking died in less than 24 hours, it does show they are willing to just shove whatever the community has created since they've done all the work of maps, weapons, war paints, game modes, bug fixes, QOL fixes, fixing the game period etc. and etc.)
The 3rd map looks like its from the train mission from metro exodus, i wonder if it was intentional.

on the 7tf map i had a game that lastet like an hour and then everyone was sad becouse it was only the first round i was crying
I joked about it on a different video about the update, but I didn't think the clipart warpainters were actually fuming about the warpaints being good.
I shouldn't have expected more, but I'm still disappointed.

I think the problem with Venice is the first time i saw it, i genuinely thought it was a remake of a fucking Overwatch map in the TF2 art style, it seems more tailored towards that game then TF2

I really wanna see more war paints like Mechanized Monster where battle scarred don't look like absolute trash that nobody wants, this the first war paint i called out saying the battle scarred gonna be what people will want more than factory new.

I feel like your entire rant about war paints could not be any more on point than that. Simple designs with clean layout and game fitting colour palette are so much more pleasing to look at than all that neon vomit that clashes with everything else on the screen and just looks out of context in general. It is so sad that people (or vomit uploaders which ever you prefer) do not get that less is in fact more.

This is the first time I unboxed more than one case and despite that I lost money I still glad I did that because I got good skins on my weapons
I mean clearly a lot of people must care about most of the products you mentioned at the end, since Valve is still producing them. Any product that fails, like the Steam controller, gets killed off.
Personally i love both the simple and wacky war paints.
what if the issue with vsh could be fixed by allowing people to choose their teams instead of being placed into one randomly (or in this case, unilaterally)? if they can't do that, ive seen jailbreak servers (stay with me) move players from being warden to a prisoner if they had a surplus of players. why couldn't we try that?
If you go to the waterfall by the A point on Sulfur you can jump down to the rocks and just chill there
