- After five months in development, hopefully it'll be worth the wait!
This video guide aims to explain the basics and essentials of how to play the 2007 multiplayer video game Team Fortress 2, touching on its mechanics, objectives, classes and more, as the stock, default experience plays today.
Although a beginner’s guide, it assumes one is familiar with navigating 3D environments from a first-person perspective, a la Minecraft, Slime Rancher or Portal (WASD to move, etc.)

Corrections!
5:25 Grenade Launcher does 100 base damage, not 90.
Also, I didn't mention crouch jumping. Crouch and jump at the same time to add a bit of extra height to clear certain hurdles.
You don't strictly NEED to crouch jump in most instances of gameplay as a beginner, and you can actually explosive jump too; crouch not required! Trust me, I went in and looked.
Thanks to a kind commenter for pointing these out! What a time to not have annotations...
I feel it important to also add that Scout is definitely not countered by Demoman, but it's the other way around.
Scout is very hard to hit with only projectiles, furthermore scout loves to get right into the opponents face, and Demoman hates people being in his face since he takes self damage from his own explosives that way.
There are many ledges you can't get onto without crouch jumping though. I think most particularly, and most likely to catch up noobs, is the little berm just before the final point on Frontier. There are stairs leading up to it from the red side, but you have to crouch jump to get up there. And you can get up on it from the flanking corridor from the blu side, but you need to crouch jump if you want to get up from ground level. It's a vital point of the map to control and really hurts you if you can't get up there.
Thank you, I joined tf2
Hi
@@WalleBot hi!
Even though I play tf2 often, I love introductory vids like this. Really funny and loved the editing!
Thank you much! It means a lot
a crash course is exactly the most effective way to help a complete beginner get the grasp of this insanely convoluted game. hopefully it’ll help newcomers not get too overwhelmed.
Here's hoping! I love the game and want others to enjoy it too
The fact that after all these years youtubers are still recording advanced tf2 beginner's guide is the reason I decided to play this game in 2024.. well done!

Fun tidbit:Since medic mentions that he isn't a licensed doctor in meet the medic , he doesn't count as medical personnel, and thus, can be harmed and killed in war without punishment.
this isn't true! combat medical personnel do not have to have any sort of licensing to be protected. The only requirement is that they be clearly marked (which medic is), and do not participate in combat. There's no rule against carrying a weapon, so Medic is protected under the Geneva convention as long as he doesn't shoot his primary.
@@slickytailwhich he does
@@slickytail Fun fact: Certain modern Medic cosmetics... *Remove the cross marking* so he's a free deal 😈
The TikTok advertising worked
fr that tik tok ad was worth it
What tiktok ad?
@@MrDanTheCreative10Z9my friend Maddie had me make clips for her to upload, and they BLEW UP

I've been wanting to get into this game for ages but I've never been able to afford a PC. I am so incredibly greatful that Valve is chill with devs making clones on mobile, because that's the only way I'm able to play it. Now that there's finally a decent port out there, I'm so glad I finally have a chance to give this game a try. Thank you for this beginners guide
One of the best games. Crazy how popular it is still after 16 years.
Man, even as a tf2 """vet""" I still can appreciate how bloody amazing this is man. Cheers to you for being able to make this! I also thought it was three kills for a domination?
Nope, four! There's always something new to learn in TF2 ^^
@@operationMADISON That is nothin' if not true! Do you think you'll do a more 'advanced' guide for each characters and overall aspects? For example stuff like teleporter cooldown canceling by upgrading it and dying if you're not an engi so your engi's got metal during setup time. Either way, I'd kill to watch that too
@@chexgex2834 that's a great idea! Maybe someday in the future, but I have some fresh ideas for the channel in mind in the meantime ... 💚✨
@@operationMADISON Let's gooo! I'm all for it for sure! If I may, will they be mostly tf2-centric?
@@chexgex2834 nope! I plan to keep this channel focused on a variety of things that interest me. The next project will be quite left field compared to this one.
if any new tf2 players are reading this, to rocket jump farther also crouch and jump at the same time you shoot at the ground
The timing of this video with the summer update is very nice!
When the update was announced back in Feb, I immediately knew I had to make this video to get my friend up to speed. We've been enjoying the update! 💚✨
Ok first GREAT VIDEO! I have been playing TF2 for a little over 2 years now and I feel like you have covered all of the basics. Second I love the Uncle Dane reference of ABC. Third this is a underrated video that deserves more attention. Great editing, great audio, great information. Overall on of the best videos to watch if you want to learn the ropes of TF2. The video goofy and fun just like TF2. That is all, thank you.
Thank you THANK YOU!! I very much appreciate the support
cant believe this is your first video! really well made!
it was in my recommendations
I can't belive that you only have 29 subscribers you I expected like atleast 20k for that good quality video
Here's hoping!
A great video and great guide for the basics!! Im still new and learning (about 300 hours right now) but I love that people still make high quality guides that are easily acessible! Thank you!
That's what it's all about! I'm very glad you enjoyed 💚✨
I fucking love the transitions in this video and you’re really good at editing
Thank you much!
This is the most effective beginner tutorial for tf2 I've ever seen.
this video explains tf2 better than I ever could to my friends with words, this really deserves more views
phenomenal editing. can’t wait to see more stuff from you man. great vid :)
hands down the best "intro" for new players out there!
Hats off to you, sir!
This is probably one of my favorite guides for TF2, simple, not to complicated, and perfect for a fresh install!
Incredible both not only to see a comprehensive TF2 tutorial nearly 16 years into the game's lifespan, but also one made better than the devs themselves (to be fair the in-game tutorial isn't much of a competition lol). Fantastic work on this! I'll be sure to share it with any friends of mine newly getting into the game. Also extra points for the KND reference.
OMG THIS IS SO GOOD, EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED SO WELL
was just about to pick up the game for the very first time today, thanks so much for this! a great intro to my tf2 journey :] the editing is great and i can tell a lot of love was put into this
That's awesome! I hope you have fun with the game, and thank you for the compliment :3
as a regular tf2 player i love seeing the game get more attention! this was a great video, loved watching it. even though i already knew everything in it, it was captivating, a very beautifully made video!
This guy showed up out of nowhere and decided to make and incredibly well edited video essay.
Though he was a girl
@@badpiggies4926 mabey, kinda tough to tell
the editing of the this is so fun and it was really helpful! ^W^
this was beautifully edited, informative, and entertaining, i will show this to my tf2 newbie friends, thank you for this video :)
Thank you thank you!!!!! I hope this helps them out with the basics! Have fun 💚✨
Magnificent video!
11:00 as someone who watched the tf2 war crimes video, he is definitely a war criminal, but not for the reason given because the medic lost his medical license.
Idc if ive been playing this game for seven years, i love well edited tf2 guides like this! Hope you make more in the future!
Maybe an advanced guide or something, for those who have watched this and have played like more than 100 hours of tf2- other than that I hope you have a blessed day, Madison! Subscribed ^^
Yo! Thanks for this, yesterday I downloaded the game and I needed a guide
really neat video! you should make one about more advanced topics like settings, other game modes, unlocks and cosmetics, just anything that the game has to offer!
I'm considering it, but it wouldn't be for a while. I've got new ideas in the pipeline
I should be a sleep right now but I'm watching a tutorial for a game I've been playing for years
Really enjoyed this vid!
that weezer reference with the pyro got me screaming to the top of my lungs. thx.
amazingly edited and very useful for a beginner like me!
Bro this video helped me after blind 20 hours of doing god knows what.
Especially classes’ reviewes. Who knew that speed is different. Not me
id argue somethings in the video like scout being countered by pyro and stuff, but overall this video is a good start to someone whos completely new to the game
thumbs up
The counters section isn't one I'm 100% satisfied with, but I wanted to keep things as concise as possible. Other commenters have been filling in the gaps as well
this is one of the best guides I have ever seen for any game
Wild how despite being basic guide, it's still better than in game basic guide 😂.
Definitely hope you'll do slightly more advanced guide for ads too! Because I'd argue what makes Tf2 unique and worth playing over other multiplayer shooters IS it's uniqueness, mastery of different skills etc. So I wonder if advanced guides as ads would be even better advertisement for the game
"please do not the cat"
During the opening dialogue before the HUD section, I straight-up thought this was all going to be formatted as a rap.
That aside, I'd say this is a video well-done that does a good job at what it sets out to do.
3:10 i love how he gave up and accepted the cart as cat immediatly, btw the Ad on tiktok worked!
10:45 the "Sentry will kill your ASS" caught me off guard and made me laugh so much my throat hurts
I (Renée) actually go by they/them!
Wow this video is incredibly underrated, as a sorta new player this video is SO helpful ❤ (ive been into tf2 for 2 years but only played a few times because of how intimidating it was lol)
this is really good !!!! honestly really surprised at how few views it has !!!
Now THIS is a beginner’s guide. Explains everything in layman’s terms so that there can be no confusion. Great basic guide to get players invested and entertaining to watch too.
still a beginner at this game, this video is honestly amazing with how you compact all the neccessary info and your editing is so good LMAO
I did not need to watch this but the editing was too good fantastic job
the beginning got me thinking like it was another episode of K.N.D
awesome video. I have 2.2k hours in TF2 but still watched it all because it was so fun to watch, also very informative and covers everything for new players, awesome shit
i just downloaded this game while watching the tutoriel thanks alot it helped
Thank you so much! TF2 can be confusing to newer players like me, also very well edited, gave me a few chuckles.
editing on this is insane good job!! (also loved the luigi gibberish from the mario & luigi games snuck in LMAO)
Great video 😊
as a longtime tf2 fan i can say this is probs the best intro to the game :) great work 👍
Thank you very much! 💚
Really cool video I love it
Nice editing 👍
the editing is really good
I was sick of this video coming in my recommendation everyday
Finally watched it didn't regret a minute
opening with an aes deep cut is bold. subbed
Thank you! Malibu Ken is probably my favorite album ever. Also check out the Behind The Scenes video; I originally planned to have a segment parodying an entire Aes track!
a very necessary video!
Congrats on 800 subscribers!!! 🎉🎉🎉
This video is not only very informative and well edited, it is also well spoken AND has a great soundtrack to it, especially the VibRibbon, Omori, and Tomodachi Life music! I cannot wait to see more stuff from you!!!! You're awesome!
Wow thank you so much!! ^^ 💚
Very nice.
Like the edits and jokes.
You do like Crash Bandicoot, great video~! Very informative and really funny
Cool video, I will recommend.
thanks for the guide
Ah yes, Demoman, one of Scout big weaknesses.
Getting into TF2 and this is the video i needed!!!!
Super high quality video, love it!
Also is there any chance you would be discussing about unlocks? Since some are **better** than stock (Sandvich, Flare gun, Crossbow) and some completely changes how a class is played (Shields, Gunslinger)
Well, in all honesty, it's not very good to try instilling a concept like "good and bad weapons" into a new player's head.
This sets a lot of players up to reject weapons, likely for years.
I'm nearing 10k hours, and only about 1-2 years ago did I accept this! If it took almost 8 years for me to accept that the Manmelter, Mantreads, Equalizer, Warrior's Spirit, and other commonly "bad" weapons were actually useful when you learn them and the proper synergies and strategies, how long would it take someone who was told by their friend that they were bad and not worth using? People don't like the idea of a meta in TF2, but the meta forms when we pre-emptively prime players to only use "good" or "overpowered" weapons, and ignore and avoid "bad" weapons.
But a continuation of this series with unlocks would be nice, but I really hope they refrain from comparing weapons to each other, and focus more on how to use each weapon to make the most out of it, and *possibly* weapon synergies as well.
there was only one thing i didint know but i still watched the whole thing because it was so entertaining.
Thank you!
cool video, hope to see more from you in the future
More coming Soon(tm)
I have almost 900 hours on tf2 and i still watched this whole video, great job this video is amazing
Just saw your sub count, surprising how a channel with just 700 is making this good of a video.
I really think you shouldve gone over the sandvich for heavy. I know its not stock, but it's so important to his gameplay and probably his most used secondary
Gotta love that Kids Next Door intro.
Thanks so much! That took a while to make but I'm extremely pleased with the results :3
This reminds me of the good ol days of scp:sl when I binged someones beginner guide to learn the game! great guide (even for someone with 2.3k hours)
I will really appreciate you. And thank you
I love the vib ribbon tutorial music for the weapon section.
watching this video despite having almost 3,500 hours on the game. really nice guide for new players, great job :D
Thank you so much! I've got a while to go before I hit that point!
nice video thanks
I LOVE IT SO MUCH
after 1k hours in game. i thank you for making this video and making me realize that 14:46 with all honesty tho, great video
as someone who is only just getting into tf2, this was a big help!
I’m your 128th sub, you’re super funny and can edit really well
Thank you very much!~ More stuff is coming... eventually...
So good
The best tf2 guide out there
Where's the mod that replaces the payload cart with a cat and TNT?
as a 3100 hour gamer this helped me main sentrybuster ty
i have played since 2014 i dont know why im here, but it is still a great video
amazing
wow...sooo good..
this video should have more views than 21k
This video works well, I don’t know why I watched it due to me having over 1,100 hours in tf2 but it was fun and funny
Tf2. Truly one of the few games where the target audience for a "beginner's guide" is players that have hundreds if not thousands of hours of playing the game.
Jokes aside, this is a really well made video, not just in the information shown, but also in the writing and editing. Definitely much better than the ingame tutorial (though that's not really saying much, huh?).
This is so underrated.
Criminally underrated channel
I've been playing TF2 for almost 15 years. Why did I watch this whole thing?
damn this dude is underrated , he derserves more subs
Aw, I appreciate it! Also he's actually a they! And they're actually me ^^
