  • World Bank CEO Ajay Banga says the world is facing a ‘perfect storm’ of crises and that he is reforming his institution to tackle them. In an interview with DW, he discusses plans to boost lending capabilities, assess risk in a different way and the new mission to eradicate poverty on a livable planet. He also explains how he sleeps at night against a backdrop of multiple challenges: climate change, food insecurity, growing poverty and pandemics. In addition, Banga shares his reaction to Argentina’s new far-right president Javier Milei’s intention to scrap his country’s central bank. Finally, he defines how success looks for him.

I do not know him and I am not willing to give any credits in advance. Being non-Western is no qualification. Being biased is not professional. Actually, sponsors will always rule. A bank is no sponsor. It is just an accountant, a servant obliged to the money givers.
So...he highlights that he will need more money...tells you all.
Of course, Western tax payers will insist on investments in their home countries that are urgently needed in these tough times. Sharing knowledge is a lesson learned too...looking at China. No way that critical know how will be shared.
Non-Western, needy countries have to get used to it to care for themselves instead continueing looking for sugar daddies.
Experience shows that financial aids end up in Swiss bank accounts of non Western leaders.
      Why burning money this way?
All his ideas are very old.

What a refreshing interview from both the interviewer and interviewee. Interviewer asked great questions and gave the space to answer them while the interviewee heard the questions with humility and broke down everything in an easy time digest manner. Neither of them got into ego battles. We need more such leaders and more such journalists in the world!

To have faith in some journey is good thing, but to have knowledge about that journey is far far better. Ajay Banga's effort to convert faith to Knowledge is commendable effort. A lecture on how to convert faith to knowledge is available online. Thus, this is my belief, Ajay Banga will succeed if not fully then at least partially. Good Luck, Ajay.
