  • 1989 might have been the most important year in German history after the war. For four decades, the country had been divided into the west, the Federal Republic of Germany, and the East the communist German Democratic Republic.
In the second episode, DJ Westbam leads us through a vivid music scene that went from Punk to Electronic and united a progressive youth on the dance floor.

vice comments are really weird. like, i've never seen subscribers that are so unhappy with high-quality and varied content. oh boo hoo, vice releases interesting stories about a german dj, trans-folk in china and acid attacks in london and ya'll are demanding a video about how "sweden is being raped by islam". some of you need to log off.

"High quality and varied content". First off, Vice makes, primarily, documentaries. "Variety" kind of goes out the window since what they cover is super predictable (I mean covering a forgotten artist who was important in a dead genre? Vice loves to cover hipster shit).
I mean you speak of Vice like they're AP, RT, CNN, where actual variety in what you report on is required. Vice is pretty much just a Stoners version of the Discovery channel :/

If he points at you during his march of rythm and gives you that stare, you better give him your bottle of water, QUICK, then he's back on the march again, happy as a pig in shit! Of camera, he walked through a building, literally, as in he walked into the wall, broke through the wall then kept walking, broke thru some office tables and interior walls, then broke out the other side, without even slowing down, but without speeding up too.

@VICE You are helping whitewash the history of techno and dance music at large. Detroit is not mentioned once in this video, while this video is titled "Berlin's Longest Running DJ on the Birth of Techno in 1989," as if techno was born in Berlin, by Westbam or whoever. Techno is an African American institution birthed by a black musician (Juan Atkins) in a basement in the ghetto in Detroit. So why is the video titled and edited this way?
