Thank you for uploading this video! My Fiesta is almost 25 years old but it still keeps going. It requires regular repair, but I am able to fix everything myself with little cost.
I have Ford Fiesta mk4 from 1996 and it’s 26 yr🎉 old
My first car, a 98, owned it since 2003, passed my test in it and still got it today, still going strong at 74k. Interesting watch thanks for posting.
Waw! What’s the body work like? Zetec 1.25 engine was amazing
@@GavinScrimgeour Never been welded and all original paint, there are some scratches & stone chips though. Colour is State Blue.
@@markbrice3619 That's incredible. I had a 1998 Ford Puma and it was falling apart when I reluctantly sold it to a scrappy in 2014. I had the car for around 13 years and it was a brilliant machine. What's the secret with your car in that the body work is in such good nick?
@@GavinScrimgeour I really like the original Puma, great car. My secret is nothing special, car has always been polished, waxed and kept dry in the garage.
I wasn’t born around this time , I was born shortly after . So I’m just wondering if your first car was 5 years old . Wouldn’t it have been quite expensive or were cars massively cheaper then
Still own mine. Over twenty years old and going strong. Endura engines are amazing
makes me miss the simplicty of older cars man. I know im only 18 but wow the fact this was made is brilliant gotta love some 90s cars. Imagine some old bou working on his fiesta
I had two, really a good car..
The MK4 version with its direct and sharp handling was crying out for a performance version, sadly it never came
My first car! Thanks for posting. Had the 1.8 diesel. 0-60 in about 35 minutes 😅
I'm feeling so much nostalgia for a time I wasn't even alive yet !
ne possiedo tutt oggi una del 98 perfettamente funzionante come nuova non la abbandonero mai e un auto indistruttibile
Che motorizzazione?
Omg this video could potentially be a life saver lol Iv'e got a mk4/mk5 that I might aswel be rebuilding since the amount of work ive done to it so this video should defo assist
Don't spose you have a service training video on the mk4/5 by any chance do you lol
BEST CAR
Love it, next video for me is searching the same service training for a Ford Escort (i dont own this car, just curious)
I found it odd that you have to reshim the valve clearances much sooner than the timing belt is needed. Who is going to put the old belt back on after taking the camshafts out to add shims? Lol
Have you got something similar about Opel/Vauxhall? Would be fantastic! Love your videos!
Yes please! Mark 2 astra!
Thank you. Does anyone have the mentioned “literature” on PDF?
Hello, Thank a lot for the excellent lesson in how to fit the timing chain. I by mistake turn the crankshaft without the main bolt attached. So I miss the timing. I forgot this timing procedure and turn the engine by hand whit a bit efort until it turns. Then again until a bit efort and freely again. Dummy me. Then I read the manual carefuly and insert the timing pin on the slot on the rear engine until the crankshat hit it. Put the iron bar on the slots of the camshafts. Mount all, turn the engine two turns and the timing marks are OK. But there is a starnhe thing. The engine has no compression and wont start. Is tere any possibility to have damaged the valves while turning by hand out of timing?
99 Mk 4 ghia , 1.25 engine, few issues with fuel pump that need fixing and shes due a big service but body and paint perfect and a head turner still. I love driving it. After renting modern cars on holiday i always feel dead inside even if theyre faster or more advanced. theyre all soulless compared to the fez
The Zetec S engine was co designed with Yamaha .......
5:24 makes no sense. How does the shaft move without the gear moving? I know they are not fixed, but the shaft rotation relies on the gear not vice versa, unless ur coasting. How did they manage to do that?
J ai la Ford fiesta studio diesel 1998
249000km
Cela fait 23ans que je la posede elle tourne comme une montre
Anyone else find it weird that manufacturers never use the prefix "the" before the model name? had 2 mk2 Fiesta XR2's back in the day but never a MK4 - always thought they were quite bland really
How do I change the pick up sensor for this car? 2000 model
how can i read the error codes in this car? it has a pre OBD2 system.
I would love to know the make and model of that hydraulic lift!
I was thinking the same
The beginning of the throw away engine .... Can't skim , grind , reuse or do bugger all mainly because oversized components were not available.
How come good design for the Zetec and you have to remove the coolant pump every time you want to replace the belt?!!
Good car fiesta I blew mine up happy times, lol
Rodney came to visit didn’t he
We owned 3. A 98 1.3 endura. I covered 60k miles in 2 years. Followed by a 2000 ZetecS I did 140k in just over 4 years. My mum owned a 99 1.25 Zetec and kept it 10 years and 60K. All cars were very reliable apart from a slave cylinder failure on the ZetecS at 70k.
clutch slave cylinder?
@@MrLocter yes 👍🏼
I'm planning to get a 1998 fiesta 1.3 Automatic transmittion.. The dealer says it only has 88000 km.. Unfortunately you can't make sure since the clock only has 5 digits, so in worst case it might be 188000km, but the car looks great and only has one previous owner.. Would you recommend it?
@@jwan_1193 yes I really would recommend it. I guess the main thing would be to check underneath for corrosion.
@@lanehogger1532 thanks! Yeah I sure will, according to photos it looks very 'clean' ... So would you recommend it even if it had 188k km? Arguably some old cars have bad automatic transmission.. Not sure about this one.. But would really love to own one
Anyone here know what kind of front left window regulator is suitable for Fiesta 2001 z-tec? Automatic windows. Original ones are expensive and I am not sure whether any other brands (or ones from 2004 - 2008 etc.) is compatible with 2001 fiesta door. Thanks!
Should be this one with the OE-number from Ford: 96FGB23201BB
Não consigo ligar os faróis de nevoeiro o que fazer
1.0 Ecoboost went back to cast iron block.
FIESTA MK4 1250cc IS THE BEST.!!!❤️😉👍💪🥇🏆🥇🏆🥇👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏
Theses were a very stong car mechanically the very a better car that the next model in my opinion rust on the sils and archs was the killer if the cars wasnt regularly waxoil or dinatrol in the correct points other than that they went forever!
You can change them with the camshaft in situ .....
This video would be 20 minutes shorter if not for the boring shots of the economy car driving sensibly around with electric guitar accompaniment.
This was before they invented DVD. The chapter breaks give you a easy target to recognize the split, and then time to react and hit play when fast-forwarding or rewinding the tape. Otherwise, you'd miss content and have to go through the trouble of rewinding and replaying to catch the beginning.
Alan Partridge should present this
Lynne I am not driving a Fiesta :)
I always loved driving my sister's mk4 1.25 flight, felt like a limo after my MK3 1.1lx! Power steering, electric windows, central locking, what luxury! And the ride was extremely good too. They both shared a terrifying tendency for lift off oversteer in the rain though, she put hers backwards in a ditch because of it haha. Seems a trend with fords of the 90s and early 2000s, MK1 focus was bad too. Shame they rusted so badly.
Fiesta 1.4 Fun 2000 Continues in Turkey road 😏😎
11:15
Old= "familiar"
Had a ‘97 P 1.25 16v in bright blue. It was rapid and a great little car to drive. Got 110mph out of it. Rear wheel arches started rotting out after 18 months right enough. Poor quality build from the Valencia factory.
Por favor en español
8:05 it's not great when there is surface rust on a new car that probably hasn't been driven more than a 100 miles
These were so ugly..🤔
This was by FAR the WORST looking Fiesta ever made!!
