    See THIS is how you convince Butcher to let up a little. Instead of telling him he's a bad person over and over again (like Annie) you just need to remind him there's the smallest bit of goodness left in him.

  • @DingoEnderZOE2

    25:07 Yeeeeah this is one instance where I support How Homelander guided Ryan. It's painfully obvious he's trying to ease him into doing worse things later BUT for this scenario right here Ryan handled this just fine and he did get to help someone who needed it.

    • @opsoo2229
      @opsoo2229 Před 8 dny +5

      Don't think so. Homelander is clearly showing Ryan that humans are playthings and that it's okay to punish them and even feel enjoyment from their pain. Sure, he deserved it but I can tell after that scene alot of Ryan's humanity was lost.

    • @DingoEnderZOE2
      @DingoEnderZOE2 Před 8 dny +2

      @@opsoo2229 Eh I personally don't think so. Why spare any humanity/sympathy towards someone getting retaliation from one of his victims? Besides Ryan himself wasn't the one punishing that guy, he legit helped that woman get an opportunity to get some payback.
      You can get pleasure/entertainment in watching a bad guy get his just desserts and still have humanity.

    • @opsoo2229
      @opsoo2229 Před 8 dny +1

      @@DingoEnderZOE2 ok you definitely lost me on that last line. Sure it's satisfying seeing a bad person get what they deserve, but it's not right to enjoy and feel pleasure seeing that punishment at all. Especially for Ryan, he's gonna want to see more of that now and he's gonna turn into a mini Homelander soon.

    • @DingoEnderZOE2
      @DingoEnderZOE2 Před 8 dny +1

      @@opsoo2229 So you're not allowed to enjoy seeing a bad person get his just desserts as if said bad person deserves what Compassion instead???? Why exactly? Arent you more of bad person if you get pleasure or enjoyment from the suffering of those undeserving of it?
      As for the situation with Ryan as long as he has a line he wont cross and stick to his main motivation which is to HELP/save people there's also nothing wrong with him pursuing more opportunities to help people. The biggest concern is since he's at that impressionable age that Homelander will have an easier time corrupting him but there's also the potential that he might be able to resist that. But we shall wait and see how that turns out.

    • @edwardmiller4562
      @edwardmiller4562 Před 8 dny +4

      @@DingoEnderZOE2That’s stretching it. He was being coached by Homelander for one, whose entire motivation is to slowly strip Ryan of his humanity. That should be the first red flag. Not only is he being shown that he can order this guy to get on his knees, he’s also the sole judge of whether his apology was good enough, and was able to order a punishment. That is the “wrathful god” Homelander envisions supes becoming. Nothing about that is good for Ryan’s development.

    As much as I would LOVE to see Homelander grow as a character - I think him being so nice and genuine to Ryan is his way of giving him the illusion of choice. He clearly still wants Ryan to be exactly like him, someone who does whatever they want whenever they want, but he knows that his way of brute forcing everything isn’t viable. He learned WAY more down in the lab last episode than we thought. He didn’t work through his trauma - he absorbed it to use as his own weapon on his son (aka deep psychological manipulation). He wants Ryan to do whatever makes the kid happy - but he wants Ryan to desire these things HIMSELF.

    I realize the title isn’t referring to the vigilantes (who are approaching 50% women at this point) it’s a comment on the males in the show being boys, ironically all the superheroes are superMAN, batMAN, etc, when in fact they’re all little boys inside. Meanwhile, Butcher Frenchie and MM started as men and have become broken. Huey is arguably the only real “man” despite showing few outward signs of it

    I'd guess that Screencrush did the theorizing on JDM. I've not seen him hesitant to drop a crazy theory every now and then. I quit watching EA after seeing hundreds of his videos and finding them often meandering, wasting time without really talking about the title of their video, and really just recapping the material without offering anything new. I've been a lifelong Marvel fan and when he started to interject opinions into his videos that seemed incredibly basic to me in terms of what he wanted from the MCU or comic books I just unsubbed.
    I subbed New Rockstars a few years ago and while you could say some of those things about that channel too... Eric Voss is just much more energetic and entertaining. It's been over 5 years since I've watched any EA. Maybe I ought to go take another look and see how things have changed, but I don't know. Does anyone actually think it's worth it?
