    These looks sick!
    Does the axle pivot on bearings within the triangle bracket? Or just metal/metal contact

    • @biketheslopes
      @biketheslopes  Před 8 lety

      Metal to metal. The axles are grade 5 structural steel and the tubing is DOM. Both very strong

    Are ski bike legal on the mountain slopes in canada ?

  • @jvm708
    @jvm708 Před 7 lety +2

    If I were to take these off some jumps would the bracket and axle handle the compression force from landing or have you not tested that yet?

    • @biketheslopes
      @biketheslopes  Před 7 lety +3

      The brackets are made from cold rolled steel and the hardware is grade 5 structural. I think your bike would brake before these brackets. Cheers

    if the skis pivot is for hardpack snow if you want to do deep powder the skis or snowboard (which are better for powder) can't pivot but remain rigid / fixed...I have tried this many different ways that is the rule...so far.

    • @chefmike4414
      @chefmike4414 Před 3 lety

      I'm going to be building my own bike. I found some brackets that should work great. Do I need to have the skis pivot on the axles? I'd rather them be fixed and rigid, it's just easier to do this. I don't care about jumping. So will it be ok for just carving downhill on hard pack snow? The bike is full suspension. Thanks.

  • @marcosguerrios8356
    @marcosguerrios8356 Před 3 lety

    Awesome video, what size are the skis? Long and wide, at least an average, so I don't get to long skid.

    • @biketheslopes
      @biketheslopes  Před 3 lety

      Skis are between 90-100cm. Longer are faster. Look for some used ski blades they work great

    • @k3anu16
      @k3anu16 Před 6 lety

    • @biketheslopes
      @biketheslopes  Před 6 lety

      I actually use 3/8 national fine thread grade 8(structural) threaded rod

  • @traizzplays2038
    @traizzplays2038 Před 2 lety

    Can I mount these directöy to the ski without making my own holes? Or do I have to drill in the ski or Steel?

    • @biketheslopes
      @biketheslopes  Před 2 lety

      You can just use a screwdriver to mount the brackets onto the skis. It is easier to just break the surface of the ski with a drill though

  • @joshmyers2288
    @joshmyers2288 Před 7 lety +1

    would this fit on my large frame 29" specialized rockhopper?

    • @biketheslopes
      @biketheslopes  Před 7 lety +1

      If the front axle is not a through axle it will fit

  • @giovannicecchinato8217

    What are the dimensions of the steel triangles in cm? And how long should the rear ski and the front ski be?

    • @biketheslopes
      @biketheslopes  Před 4 lety

      14 cm height. For 26 inch mountain bike frames I recommend 100cm skis for more speed or 90 cm for less speed but better handling

      you can cut down an old pair of skis and they will work OK. I would suggest a pair of kids skis or ski (snow) blades
