    This video has its ups and downs, but overall I'm very happy and I learned a lot! The red dice came out just spectacular in my opinion, and I really wish the blue and purple had as well. But overall, they make some really pretty colors! It will just give me an excuse to do more smoke swirls in an upcoming video sometime whenever I redo them! :)
    I can 100% say, that patience is rewarded in this case. I would only work on 1 dice at a time if I were you. I tried to do 4 different colors due to a time constraint, and so some of them failed. Had I been a more patient boi, it would have worked out much better.

    "blue is always darker, I don't know why that is"
    It's due to something called luma. It's basically a measure of how dark/light a color must be to be vibrant.
    Vibrant blue will always be dark, vibrant yellow will always be light, and red is going to be somewhere in the middle.

    I've always had aweak spot for dice with smokey swirls in them, and these dice?
    They really scratch that particular itch. Love 'em!
    A quick question though;
    Do you think it is possible to do a combo of these dice and the dice with a liquid filled center?
    Like a smokey shell with a liquid core?

    I actually made a set for a friend a little bit ago that was purple with neon pink swirls into it that turned out great the second time I made them. I used purple food coloring and neon pink acrylic paint. Since the resin I've been using as of lately is really think none of the colors blended into one thankfully and man, if they weren't going to my friend I would be using them now. They turned out way better then I expected.
    The first test I made of them I put went from the bottom to the top with my pipet and it didn't turn out great, it was just a straight line. The second test I made a circular motion while going up and thats what did it for me.

    • @ellie5460
      @ellie5460 Před 3 lety +2

      They will blend more visually rather than physically if you're using transparent pigment for the smoke, like the alcohol ink used here. An opaque pigment, like an opaque acrylic paint, will not blend visually. Acrylic paint also doesn't have the same consistency as alcohol ink, it won't spread the same at any resin thickness, so It just depends which look you're going for.

    • @fnc_
      @fnc_ Před 4 lety +3

      there really isn't anyway to make dice without a pressure pot or vacuum chamber. you need something that will pull that air bubbles from the resin

    • @Rybonator
      @Rybonator  Před 4 lety +19

      Hey there! So I actually have made some vids on that :) My 24k and glow dice don't use a pressure pot, nor do my older ones. However, I am happy to show more of that.
      Essentially you just want to do an opaque dice so that you won't see any bubbles in the dice.

    pouring the blue resin on top of the (mostly) solid resin gave me an idea. you should try making layered dice. like a rainbow or half and half or something where you fill part of a mould in a colour, let it set, then pour a new colour on top without removing it from the mould, then let that set, for clear distinct lines between the different layers

    If you are in/ just past that gel state, always check to see if you can get it melt a bit with the ligher or a high heat gun- it sounds counter intuitive (because heat speeds up the reaction and resin isnt "melty" like abs plastics), but sometimes it works and can at least allow you to level off or try to get a cap on- but dont overheat it- if it doesn't work or you mess up, don't keep trying because lots of actual dangerous fumes and it will bubble and burn.

    Hi! I wondered if you'd get that subtle effect more easily if you used some metal needle syringes. I know some woodworking supply places have them to be able to get wood glue into tiny cracks and stuff. It would make it easier to just squirt out a tiny amount. I think that purple color looks awesome towards the top where there's less of it, so something like this might help accomplish that.

    I have a couple of questions. I've seen smoke dice done many ways, including what is essentially petri without white ink. I was wondering if you mixed fresh resin for your colors, or set aside partially cured resin for them. Do you think that it would make a difference in how the colors spread? Or does that depend more on the consistency of the clear base? Do you think it would affect how easy the resin is to work with? I've seen it done both ways, but not with enough examples for my own estimation. I'll be working with one set at a time myself. Do you think that heating the resin before hand is manageable with one set? Thanks!

    I know you've probably got the next class planned for your Class Sets, but after that I think a fun one would be Warlocks!
    You could have one for each of the PHB Subclasses, and they're all so aesthetically different

    My power has been out for about 2 hours due to what is supposed to be 30 inches of snow and now i get to watch this in the lowest quality, unless i want to wait an hour for it to load.
    Edit:power is back.....for now
