This is an exploration of an idea in Nietzsche's Genealogy of Morals called the ascetic ideal. In short, Nietzsche finds this ideal behind every big aspect of human culture: art, philosophy, religion, and even science.
The ascetic ideal is that which promotes a movement away from the material world, that which denies life and strips humanity of its uniqueness. The ascetic ideal is the precursor to nihilism.
In the Genealogy, Nietzsche explores this concept as it rears its head in religion (Christianity), philosophy (Schopenhauer), art (Wagner), and science (Darwin, astronomy).
ChatGPT and advancements in large language models and artificial intelligence, seem to fit the pattern of modern science whose trajectory Nietzsche criticizes in the Genealogy.
Science took away our special place in the universe (Copernicus), our divine origin (Darwin) and now it threatens to take away our language (ChatGPT).

Not only posting videos regarding every single one of Nietzsche's books, but also commenting upon our present trough the eyes of this author is truly admirable. Sad to see people not understanding the actual importance and quality of this channel. Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words!
Witnessed it myself, image generators also caused havoc in the illustration side of art. I’ve seen plenty of illustrators just dropping out of their talents as if they never spent a a day sharpening it. Especially the ones that only had begun Illustrating who’d argue “what’s the point”
Is that compatible with other forms of art though? Illustrators work through a digital interface, as does AI. Whereas others use a different mode, pen & paper, instrument, paint-brush etc. Will be fascinating to see how it plays out, either way.
Idk why I say this now and not a lot of a time ago, but this is the only channel I come to when I want to understand something about Nietzsche and Schopenhauer. This is because of the quality of the script and of the video and audio. Thank you!
Happy to hear that!
6:35 "In this view, humans are not special at all, they're simply animals"
If we accept that humans are animals, then we must conclude that animals ARE special too and shouldn't be tortured to death en masse. When people say "if humans are animals then humans are worthless", it's another way of saying "My belief in the worthlessness of animals completely outweighs my belief in the worth of humans, therefore humans must be worthless too". Whereas, people who say that we should treat animals as special are saying "My belief that humans are special outweighs my belief that animals are worthless, therefore animals must be special too".
If you kill a cockroach you are a hero. If you kill a butterfly you are bad. Morality has aesthetic standards.
- Friedrich Nietzsche
@@skullnetwork4482 that’s not morality. That’s just practical egoism. I don’t want a cockroach in my house, but I enjoy watching a butterfly. I still feel bad about killing a cockroach, but if it affects my life negatively and I can’t get rid of it another way, I will kill it.
Thus, mankind is 'special' animals. Nothing different than animals but with better intelligence than animals. Using the advanced brain, humans only tend to classify its own kind as being special themselves. But ultimately human species is just a component of the creatures in the grand scheme of existence and ecosystem on the planet.
Pretty sure this quote is misattributed, although it does express a Nietzschean sentiment for sure
@@NothingButThought But that's just a superficial reason. If you couldn't easily catch and release a butterfly or it was a pest eating your plants (as some are), I'm sure you'd kill it too.
And even if a cockroach is outside, I'm certain you'd feel better about killing it accidentally than you would feel about killing a harmless, beautiful butterfly accidentally, even if you don't consciously realize it. Apollonian Germ made a video on this topic. Morality is neither relative/subjective, nor universal; but instinctual. Not everyone's instincts are the same, but that still doesn't make it subjective - based on whim.

There is something quite heroic in man uncovering his own insignificance through his scientific pursuits yet carrying on with said pursuits anyway, striving for truth despite it shattering all previous structures of meaning.
That's the very ideal of the Ubermensch right there.
I remember I used to look up to monks and priests and marvel at their disconnect from the physical world to focus on the spiritual, I used to laugh about Nietzsche and his hatred for Christianity. My how it changes, how saw so many people use drugs, and religion to escape to Ascetic ideal, to remove from the world, how the world tried to drag me into that thinking. Then I get to reading Nietzsche and I was so surprised a man I thought we can never agree in life turns out we share a lot of the same ideals for man and the world.
Nietzsche changed my life, too.

A scientists view :-
Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.
- Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space, 1997
A conqueror view :-
It is reported that King Alexander the Great, hearing Anaxarchus the philosopher discoursing and maintaining this position: That there were worlds innumerable: fell a- weeping: and when his friends and familiars about him asked what he ailed. Have I not (quoth he) good cause to weep, that being as there are an infinite number of worlds, I am not yet the lord of one?

In The Will to Power Nietzsche praised - sometimes metaphorically, other times both metaphorically and literally - the sublimity of war and warriors, and heralded an international ruling race that would become the "lords of the earth". Here Nietzsche was referring to pan-Europeanism of a Caesarist type
The Nazis appropriated, or rather received also inspiration in this case, from Nietzsche's extremely old-fashioned and semi-feudal views on women: Nietzsche despised modern feminism, along with democracy and socialism, as mere egalitarian leveling movements of nihilism. He forthrightly declared, "Man shall be trained for war and woman for the procreation of the warrior, anything else is folly"; and was indeed unified with the Nazi world-view at least in terms of the social role of women: "They belong in the kitchen and their chief role in life is to beget children for German warriors." Here is one area where Nietzsche indeed did not contradict the Nazis in his politics of "aristocratic radicalism."
I believe you are correct in deducing that Nietzsche would believe that AI is just another nail in the coffin to nihilism.
It was never obvious to me that we were on that path until I started to think about the potential capabilities of AI and how it's potential for what would be for all intents
and purposes "consciousness" would lead to the inevitable conclusion that there is nothing about us that is "special".
At that point, we would have reduced ourselves to being indistinguishable from a table, chair or any other "inanimate" object.
Once that AI is able to come to that conclusion, there would be no reason for it to believe that we have "rights", and as such, would be completely expendable.
All your videos are wonderful and thought provoking, thank you Weltgeist 🙏
Nietzsche said in the will to Power, apologies for the lack of citation here, but I am sure that he expressed the following (paraphrased a lot); 'nihilism is the greatest absurdism, the greatest opioid humanity has created to run away from life, courage is the answer to nihilism, courage to face your fears and wishes you o so have belittled, ridiculed, and felt ashamed from.' Rick and Morty to me, shows this perfectly. As a super genius, Rick Sanchez always has an intoxicated state of mind whenever his fears and desires face him head-on, he runs away by drinking and traveling to absurd realms and imaginative realities. the show illustrates this beautifully by showing Rick like a certain philosopher (Schopenhauer). He looks interestingly like him, and like Schopenhauer, Rick also struggles with the people around him. He often was lonely due to having mediocre company, as Nietzsche noticed in assessing Schopenhauer's life biography.
This may be why the aesthetic ideal is in religion, science, and art!
It is the greatest addictive drug humanity has relied on as a means for co-dependency, as a will that is afraid and ashamed of becoming who one is, of willing to power.
ChatGPT can be a tool for strong wills, as for weak wills, they shall continue to place nihilism into scientific tools.
I noticed, that science, is a masterful tool for truth, and for lies.
scientific integrity in research shows this, how much bias and interest allow for science to become a tool for both truth, and both deception.
Totally agree, I sensed nihilism in Rick and Morty too, though it's kind of fun show but there's totally some elements like nihilism, indulgence, impulsiveness etc in the theme of that show
He also criticized the opposite of asceticism; culture. Both can be a form of escapism from reality, which is paradoxical (reality). His superman is a man that can accept the truth. Not to deny life in rejecting living and not to deny life in embracing the miserable ease of made up absolutes.
AI will be our last and greatest creation.

What always strikes me as odd about Nietzsche is that he never seems to ask himself what the ascetic gets in return for his ascetic practice.
Inner peace, true loving kindness, an uncorrupted appreciation for the beauty of the world - those are a couple things I could think of. He is convinced that ascetics make themselves miserable, yet when we look at sages and saints from all corners of the world, a lot of them share in very positive traits and views on life. Quite the opposite of what Nietzsche seems to believe.
My impression is that Nietzsche's mental state (which seemed to always hover between depression and mania) kept him from understanding genuine happiness, and how the ascetic path was a means of attaining it.
You put it very well. I think there are two possible perspectives for compassion. One is to try be compassionate, other is to demand or even force others to be compassinate and if they are not, then blame them. I believe the second one may be what N was contrary to. After all Zarathustra himself was an ascetic of some kind, no?
@@bonetomahawk565 yours is a very shallow analysis. Perhaps that is why Nietzsche is beyond your comprehension.
@@ilonabaier6042 With your ad hominems any philosophy is way beyond your comprehension...
Yeah ascetic doesn’t attain “inner peace, true loving kindness, an appreciation for the beauty in the world”
Because belief is the inherent rejection of the material/physical world.
So if these ascetics you talk about have these virtues, I find it a lie since, they trade out the material world for a view In which makes them happy instead of being happy for the situation of for life as it is.

I'm happy to see your last couple of videos doing well. I remember you saying at some point that the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius is one of your favorite books. I would love to see your take on the stoics, there is so much shallow "instagram content" around about them that it has given them a bad reputation. Even when bigger channels such as Philosophy Tube covers them I see plenty of people in the comments disregarding or simply not understanding what stoicism is about. I feel like you could give them a much better, much more convincing video. I think it would do well both in content and views. I always had a soft spot for the stoics, I wish the spark I felt when I first read them could be reproduced in others.
Way back we did a video on Nietzsche and the Stoics. We might revisit them in a future video, I agree 100% on the shallow content on the Stoics that's on the internet today.

Of course an atheist like Nietzche would say "spiritual" means "life denying". Did he even accept anything real beyond the physical world? So of course he discounted and rejected the spiritual life. That's in my opinion his personal blindness and chosen ignorance.
11:15 Arguing that humans are capable of creating ANYTHING from thin air is absurd in my opinion. Every great creative mind had people, things and events that they studied and that inspired them.
Exactly! There is nothing qualitatively different in human brains. It’s just more neurons and better organised. There is no magical inspiration or supernatural genius and for me that makes every great piece of art and every groundbreaking innovation even more astonishing and appreciable.
Only people that are not Creative think this way.

Nihilism is biologically true. We will amount to a corpse, just like all the other life forms before and after us. The interesting side to this is that we are unable to experience being dead. From our personal pov, we never actually die, as we are unable to experience it. Others know that we are dead, but for us, our last moment simply lasts forever, as we become unable to experience the next one. Being dead is being kicked out of linear time. So the question is, is there a nonlinear one?
Or..it’s just an ever larger playground (all those galaxies) wherein the brave blond beasts can roam. Nietzsche knew but didn’t like the fact that some people had more opportunities than others, but said we would have to deal with, head held high. AI could help individuals as well as the sum of all, humanity, to reach higher.
So true

Not sure, it allows people to create and break boundaries pretty much unconstrained. I think he'd like it.
It's in fact the reason people are afraid of it, they want to moralize it and use their will to power on it because they want to control it.
If he was consistent, I think he would accept the challenge.
Besides, don't you think it's a bit weird to use Nietzsche as some sort of value giver, like he is the king of life or something? really it's up to people to decide if they like the AI. Some jumped on it, others might be afraid and try to moralize their decision, but I think in Nietzsche's view, it's the latter that would be the moralists and the ascetics. Even AI itself is totally materialist and individualist, there is no metaphysical, like no truth, no causality, no morality, so it's the perfect Nietzschean soul. Pure chaos that can do poetry.
AFTER READING NIETZSCHE I WANT TO RULE THE WORLD
Bro you should do a video on what Nietzsche would have thought of Bertrand Russell who criticised Nietzsche and was also supported anti life aesthetic way
You will first need to put yourself in a place of power. To do that you will need to make the right connections (social networking) and the right amount of resources. But more importantly, you'll need to understand power itself, master it even. Ill give you a nudge in the right direction, power is the ability to manipulate everything around you, to do that youll need to understand the foundation of power, which is discipline, applicable knowledge, and consistency. The three levels of power is 1) the ability to control yourself, 2)the ability to control others, 3) the ability to move the masses. And you may have to sacrifice much, maybe even your very humanity, to see every one and everything as nothing but a tool to elevate yourself, until they serve their purpose and are discarded as such. So did Hitler. But of course the pat response would be “But Hitler misunderstood Nietzsche.” Then perhaps many others who read Nietzsche misunderstand him in ways convenient to their own interests.
This is why philosophers ought to be responsible for writing in ways that lend themselves easily to convenient misunderstandings.
Do you think Nietzsche would have an Instagram account if he were alive today?. What would he post, why would he post?. I've just tried getting back on social media because I know it makes my mum happy, but it sickens me, I can't speak honestly because I'm too controversial, so I'm this character, with this unwanted goal of looking good so my mum isn't ashamed around her friends. I don't know how to be the brutally honest me and speak my mind on their whilst keeping up appearances for my loved ones who seem so attached to others opinions of them. When your ideas are unique or controversial you can't speak your mind and be authentic without hurting or embarassing your loved ones. But I don't want to get back in line and tow the expected narrative. Maybe the solution is just photos, no words, social media is not a place for words I feel. Keep them happy with the odd photo and controversy will be far less likely to arise. Still I'm curious as to how or if you think Nietzsche or Schopenhauer would approach the subject and different platforms available. Cheers, Matt.
Thank you for this video. I don't think Nietzsche would go the way you think he would concerning AI. I too am very troubled by how "disembodying" technology is on the whole. The Bronze Age seems a much more straightforward time to pursue The Will to Power. However, this is our time, and I believe we must embrace AI and then not let it corrupt us but overcome it. AI is set to become the most powerful tool mankind has ever created. If we turn away from it, we deny the Will to Power and that power will just be used by our enemies. Those who thought guns were unmanly died with their swords. Any group who is able to control an AGI could take radical steps towards Power, Pleasure, Life Extension, Freedom and ultimately move out beyond Earth. Jason Reza Jorjani has some interesting thoughts concerning Nietzsche and AI if you want to check him out.
It's a serious question regarding a friend of mine.
Do you think someone who's enjoying mathematics as a self-overcoming art practice (and not for objectivity nor getting closer to an "absolute" state of the mind) and the practice overcoming - while watching dozens of anime series criticizing the world and almost never discussing with anyone than me or few other friends would be guessed "nihilistic" to Nietzsche?
I know being lonely doesn't always imply one currently has a "slave-ish" morality in the nietzschean perspective. Though I'm quite unsure for my friend's case.
Freud argues, there are three traumas afflicting, human beings Copernican, human evolution, and the ego, not master in its own house.
What Nietzsche's didn't consider, were the extraordinary human ability to adaptation, humans will adapt to anything, if some part of the population becomes nihilist doesn't mean all population will become it, that's how it always worked.

I do not hold with the so-called insignificance in comparison to the stars. I feel only wonder and curiosity.
Really enjoyed this, but I must take issue with the use of Astrological Symbols here alluding to astrology as just another expression of the Ascetic Ideal. Yes, there is a heavy Platonist slant to astrology, but real astrology places the powers of all the Gods/Planets within each individual human, bringing these all down to Earth into the field of space and time, and then suggesting that these powers have always been "Human, All too Human."
Great video as always. One of the few interesting takes on the future of AI.
Glad you think so!
So, is the simulation of consciousness the same as consciousness? Would it ever be, among with all of it's manifestations?
Is the appearance the same as the essence, even if the appearance would appear to be the essence?
The answer is: NO.
Great video as always

Nietzche may be the Einstein of Philosophy
Would've been interesting to explore The Gay Science § 354, where he postulates that consciousness is intricately linked to language, and therefore that it's not out of the question that LLMs become conscious.

Not sure ive only read like 30 pages of nietzsches the joyful sience and nothing else - took me like 6 hours. I feel like nietzsche just wants everyone to be happy, strong and special. Might be just projection. it seems like for me that the more i get know his work the more its affirming my previous realizations. Some things i dont agree completely with him on but not so much. I definitly, wether nietzsche wanted that or not, believe that everyone should be happy, strong and is special.
I feel like man being able to discover the world around him and to truly understand (which is the said goal of science) would make his opinion of himself higher. Separate from animals by the sheer fact we can reason and create things we envision, as far as we know the only life within the universe and thus the rulers of it. To me I feel like this would be appealing to Nietzsche, that we’ve conquered god and nature, that we’ve enforced our power upon them and can do so within the universe

This is the answer ^
The affirmation of what is willed.
I bet I could convince Nietzsche that ai is a necessary part of bringing forth the Overman.
How so? What is your argument?
There is a word being used in this video who's use I don't understand, "Life."
What I am doing here is paraphrasing an incident decades ago in New York where Joseph Campbell recounts where just after returning from India is attending a workshop presented by Martin Buber and Campbell asks of Buber, "There is a word being used here today I don't understand. Buber, "What is that word." Campbell, "God!" Buber, "You don't understand who God is?" Campbell, "I don't understand who you mean. You just said God has turned his face from us, I've just come back from India people are experiencing God all of the time. Buber, "Do you mean to suppose? Campbell, "Whooooooo, do I mean to suppose?" Now, extrapolate that encounter over the word 'God' by two eminent thinkers, about how the word "Life" is being used here.
Had some kind of interesting insights or new perspectives while listening to this video. It's gonna be a bit more intuitive and less logical.
First was, it's all about appreciation and gratitude towards life, the world and us, and maybe without separation.
Second was, Nihilism is, in its essence, not valuing, not being grateful towards anything. Also about seeing or finding no Meaning in anything or everything. Sometimes it's some kind of inability, sometimes maybe vengefulness.
Third is, when you made an analogy between writing a heartfelt birthday message by yourself or through an AI, and how it loses meaning, it's where I noticed the connection between "Meaning" and Intention. To mean something, is to intend something. And the latter is about your Will. Which is very important if you appreciate everything and are grateful for its existence.
And interestingly you actually have more Will to live or to do anything, when you're grateful for the world and you being in it. You Intend or Mean a heartfelt message, when you truly appreciate anyones existence. When you do it through AI it comes through apathy, lack of Will to express yourself as you would want to, if you actually had That much gratitude. Your intention becomes to preserve your Will or perhaps Time for something else. Your intention becomes to run away from your own incompetence at expressing your very valuable feelings, caused by perhaps undervaluing the worth of your own Will and its pure, direct expression.
And it kind of stains everything. This will probably cause a lot of confusion at first, make people question what exactly differs us from AI. The source of Will from its limbs and tools. And how much of it is lost, the further your limbs and tools expressing it extend. But hopefully in the future, the whole situation will give us a more clear picture of how things are and what is worthy of more appreciation and value. I kind of hope, the deeper we go into escapism masked as asceticism, running away from our own selves, at the end the brighter they will shine, the more noticable they will get in contrast to all the murkiness.
As they say, gold does not fear the flame.
Thanks for the video!

Paradoxically, Nietzsche's views on modern sciences support Christianity's take on the place of mankind in the universe. Christianity, however ascestic, places man as an imago Dei, at the center of the universe, with a God-given dominion over other creatures.
Christianity is full of paradoxes, plot holes and nonsense. The power of Christianity lies in imagery, architecture, rites, etc. Not in a text that most Christians haven't read anyway.

And the best thing about this, is that this mindset could apply to every conscious being, so that everyone would feel unique and special, because they actually are and noone needs to chase "objective" uniqueness, which in it self is kinda useless.
@@NothingButThought that's actually unique, to value the subjective experience this much almost reaching solipsism but not quite. I envy you in this regard because I always feel the need for reassurance to tell me that I'm not delusional and that there is something out there that supports my beliefs of uniqueness, I view it as a handshake of sorts as in I need my subjective experience and my society or at least my close circle to also believe that I'm unique, like by making a hit novel or book and receiving that admiration and feedback that I desperately seek. But maybe it's all unnecessary. maybe I'm the solipsist haha
We have to create something better than us, whether we can we live with it or not doesn't matter.
the real tragedy of Nietzsche is how he didn't understand how he needed christianity to put back man in it's rightful place
A bias isn't a fallacy. It's an assertion waiting to be proven.
couldn't we say that rejection of the objective truth is considered life-denying too?
How so?
@@WeltgeistYT the rejection of objective truth, like Nietzsche did, also can lead to a form of nihilism..When we reject objective truth, we are essentially denying the existence of a shared reality..If we can't agree on basic truths, it becomes difficult to communicate effectively or build meaningful relationships. This can lead to a sense of despair and hopelessness, which is certainly life-denying.
Long live physics!
Nihilism is starting to feel more like fate, in this digital age, than an ideology or philosophy.
What is greater than the feeling of fate is the spirit of fate.
What is fate?
Science does make efforts to make us aware of our insignificance. However, let's make ourselves significant by aiming for something higher. An example would be colonizing Mars. Another would be exploiting resources in our solar system from the Moon or an asteroid so that we aim for even higher goals. Ensuring our survival.
I think we are getting ahead of ourselves a little bit on AI. Yeah it's interesting, but still very much in it's infancy. Unless you're a scientist working on it, all predictions being made about it are essentially conjecture. As of now, AI would still be nothing without us, and is still just another program. I think people who think AI is eventually gonna become this God-like entity have watched too many movies. If you experiment with ChatGPT enough with yourself, you will see that is is heavily coded to back a certain ideology, and it just so happens to be the reigning ideology(shocker). Does anyone actually buy that? I don't. Now of course, there are ways to trick it into contradicting this ideology.
There's a lot I admire about Nietzsche. But how pathetic it is to think human life is only worthwhile if we cling the illusion of some Scala Naturae with us at the top, and that we get to scratch every itch that comes to us.
ChatGTP is literally the Magic Conch shell from Spongebob: czcams.com/video/Lu5SJcNp0J0/video.html
Absolutely nerve-wracking content!!
However, i would not be surprised if this content gets replicated by AI in the future, in an indistinguishable way😂
Nihilism is the truth 💔
nietzsche-bae
Do a video on uncle Ted Kaczynski. Most important philosopher of our time.
in christian theology, the body and the soul are both required to make a man. the soul and body are separated at death but the soul will be united with a glorified body in Christ in eternal paradise.
what is nietzsche’s anthropology? i actually don’t know.
Personally I don't understand it when people state that we create original ideas out of thin air. We as humans are also confined within our world, personality and understanding of our world. For that reason we can't think of a colour that doesn't exist.
Like an ai is confined by its code and input
So are we humans confined by our personality and experience.
It seems obvious to me that every new thing we ever think of is an iteration of a thing that already exist. Can anybody please counter my argument?
Ai can never experience life truly, the causality of events, emotions, and experiences. An artists can learn from other artists can create vastly different stories than Ai can. Leave Ai alone and it can't create anything, however leave man alone with tools to make are and he will make art. Nothing comes out of a vacuum but there's different level of art when made by man then one made by Ai. Man can create art through suffering and effort, Ai can create are that captures only the surface level of art. We'll see how advanced it can become
@@TheMrShnickers Good point! Humans have a consciousness and emotion wich we can't code or replicate, as far as we are concerned ai cannot develop that, at least not as long as there isn't a clear definition as to what conscience is and how it can be conceived.
I think consciousness and it's definition should be researched more.
But is there a needed correlation between conscience and creativity?
In my definition true creativity is creating something or thinking of something without any iteration based on existing factors. As far as I am concerned humans can't do that.
Schopenhauer has a unique answer to this. Will do a video on this as this point comes up a lot in the comments
Do you subscribe to Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious?
Saying that AI cannot create art out of thin air is a fallacy, because artists dont live in a vacuum. Therefore AI cannot create new art yet!
For now what separates AI from humans is that humans can understand causality, AI not completely. That does not mean, that just anyone can be relieved, because even if AI is based on correlations, it still works better than 90% of people, even in science.
But scientists are already working on introducing Popper's scientific theory into AI training, so in time AI will work just as reliable as Newton's law of motion.
The phrase "out of thin air" in the video was a bit strong-worded, yes. It ultimately boils down to a discussion on the nature of genuine artistic creation. Good subject for a future video..
I don't care where science is going. Humankind can wipe themselves our for all i care. No loss
ChatGPT could literally be a predecessor to the Übermensch
I think it either will be the Overman or a tool of the Overman. It has the potential to create value or at the very least impose it in such way that makes 20th century totalitarianism seem like humanitarianism.
no
To my mind, all that which Nietszche tries to express in his all philosophy is that God is within each man or nowhere. The dead God Nietszche speaks about is the external God, the God imported from religions, from some people who are pointed by religions and moral authorities as the only messengers of God and truth. Thank you for your unacademic videos on Nietszche.
Careful brother, this idea sounds dangerously close to Gnosticism... And Gnosticism (or the similar Hermeticism and other denominations) are far, far worse than any other kind of religion. Gnosticism/Hermeticism is anti-life, anti material world, it's a true dangerous megalomaniac death cult.
We must remain humble and not succumb to the temptation to become "Homo dios" (divine human), while simultaneously aspiring to transcend our primal animal condition.
We can transcend nature, but not become Gods.
I realize there's this human infatuation or need to feel special. It's hard wired into our brains. At this point, there's nothing wrong with balancing this need out with some humility in realizing we're not as special as once thought. The ultimate feeling of "specialness" has caused a great deal of problems. It's time to get over that and maybe become a bit less egocentric. I actually find it fascinating and uplifting that we aren't as great as we once thought. At the same time, I like how this was concluded insofar as embracing our humanity in ways that do make us special. In fact, it's our investigative powers and our navigation through the cosmos that makes us a pretty fascinating species to say the least. Even if one day AI takes over, we may perhaps receive some credit for creating a new form of existing in the world through AI... And who knows? Maybe it was bound that our new creation is the only way that the human impact can live on far much longer past our extinction.
Our discoveries and inventions are ours. They only make us even more magnificent and special.
Thats a you problem.
@@melomateus_m.r Haha. It's not even a problem in my mind. I welcome it.

Weltgeist = the true Nietzche Scholar!
Some things will always amaze me. Like why anyone takes Marx seriously. He thinks like a child. I used to think just like Marx until I grew up and became a responsible adult. AND also, why anyone takes Nietzsche serious. He thinks like a child. I used to think just like Nietzsche until I grew up and became a responsible adult. Some people remain child-like their entire lives. Hence, Marx and Nietzsche, and their legacies, and their disciples.
I don’t think it’s either having a superiority complex or being a nihilist. There is a third option, accepting ourselves for who we are and actually being OK with it
Nietzsche holds mediocrity in contempt
@@aocbbl to me mediocrity is tricking oneself into thinking they are superior in essence rather than acknowledging one’s limitations and pushing those boundaries
@@josemjerez2140 why bother living just as 'ok' through life?

This philosphy is itself life-denying. It's like an ideology of ultramaterialism, assuming the supremacy of matter over all things, which totally precludes the validity of a human's experience beyond the strictly material. It's ironically very small minded in that it lacks the perspective to reckon with a subjective universe.
Christianity is nihilistic. I felt this for years but its so covert to common observer.sickkk
water is level when at rest.. nature doesnt lie. The sun isnt a star, we dont live in a planet, but in a plane of existence.. and ofcorse, "we" didnt go to the moon.
