from www.VisitScotland.com - Coldingham Sands is a sheltered sandy beach at the mouth of the Buskin Burn, on the coast of the Scottish Borders.
This beautiful beach stretches for a kilometre within Coldingham Bay. There is a rocky shore at either end of the beach. It is situated within the St Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve and hermit crabs can be seen in the rock pools. There are many paths around the surrounding coastline which provide excellent views of the beach. Coastal grassland on the beach supports flowers such as restharrow and butterflies such as the small copper. It is close to St Abbs village and harbour. Thousands of cliff nesting birds can be seen at the nearby St Abbs Head Nature Reserve. Lifeguards patrol this beach at weekends in June, and seven days a week from 30th June - 8th September.

From Wikipedia - Coldingham Bay is situated within the St. Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve which itself is part of the Berwickshire and North Northumberland Coast Special Area of Conservation. The rocky shore around the bay has much marine life, with many types of sea creatures and seaweed to be found. The large area of tide pools is popular with rockpoolers. Slightly inland from the seashore is an area of dunes and grassland which provides a fragile habitat for a host of plants and animals. Visitors are requested to keep to the paths, not to pick flowers or light fires in this area to protect the environment.
