- A few weeks ago I heard about the PXG 0311 Gen 6 Driver challenge. Similar to the Pepsi and Coke challenges from back in the day. I was intrigued!
Here's how it works: If the PXG GEN6 Driver doesn’t outperform your current driver by delivering either more distance or tighter dispersion during your fitting, PXG will give you a $100 USD Mastercard Rewards Card.
So in this video I am fitted with the PXG 0311 Gen 6 Driver to see if it is better than my brand new Ping G430 Driver.

TBF the Ping was off the rack. We could all get fit into any modern driver, and a couple of lessons with it....
I wish I'd attempted this challenge when it was on. I recently took a chance on a Gen5 0311 driver and it just couldn't compete at all with my forgiving Cobra. It was shorter and harder to hit - quite remarkable. Interested to see if the Gen6 has really improved that much.
I used to play PXG Gen4 XT driver and currently playing the TSR3 driver and I’m curious to see if my driver can beat PXG. Paul, this is a great video to watch and see how the two brands compete head to head. Watching this video is making me jump back onto the PXG brand.
You should go in and test tsr3 to see how it performs. What do you like about your current driver?
PXG started off with PING engineers who left PING and went to PXG. They had a non compete for a few years so bob threw them in the design department basement and let them do their thing until the non compete was finished and boom. PXG was born.
I know crazy right! Actually I played golf with them last month and heard the coolest stories. Such a great brand and cool people. Check out my recent PXG video
Very nice! Wish I had a PXG fitting studio nearby to take the challenge. I'm almost postive I would be leaving with a driver rather than a gift card.
Great video! I have been wanting to get a fitting from PXG and hopefully one day will happen. Club looks great and performed great!
Go do the fitting challenge. What driver are you using now?
My results with the gen 6 weren’t any better than my gen 5 or 4. I sold them and moved on to a triple diamond paradym and it’s been a good move. Nice video
Great video Paul!!
Thanks! I really appreciate it. What do you think of the Pxg driver ?
Nice video! I currently hit the Ping 410, and wan also thinking about trading up to G425 or G430. I will now try the PXG Gen 6. Awesome results Paul!
I dont know about the gen 6 but had the gen 5 0311xf couldnt find a fair way for shit. Got the G425 and im finding 8 out of 10 and going further
Interesting video. I was really interested in the final numbers but I wonder if you were custom fitted for the Ping as well. Maybe the numbers would have been different.
Awesome! Glad to see two Arizona brands working together!
You should do the challenge. What driver are you using.
@@GolfersAuthority I have the Sim 2!
I’m using a 0311xf gen 5, unfortunately there is nowhere where I live where I can get this fitted properly. I have a bit of a slice once in a while so I’m going mess with my weights a bit, hope for the best. Great video.
Sorry to hear that! where do you live?
Just south of Ottawa Ontario
It’s interesting how much closer the dispersion is with the PXG compared to your gamer that was built for you. Video is very well done Paul!
Thanks KC, what driver are you using now?
@@GolfersAuthority I go back and forth between my ecic flash and stealth.
I play PXG irons and really love them. However I have been playing Srixon drivers for the past 5 years.
Good video, I don't beleive that shaft is a stock shaft so it would be an upgrade cost. I also think he could have done more to actually get your spin rate down even further, there is more meat on that bone with additional fitting adjustments IMO.
He’s hitting down on the ball and all the guy talked about was loft causing spin. I’d get a real fitter
What else would you recommend going to get the spin rate down, not including fixing my swing which is in process 😀
@@GolfersAuthority well angle of attack is pretty necessary but honestly that shaft seemed to help with that. You can see you went from pretty steep down to a tiny bit up. I don’t think there is a ton to do without swing changes, just noting the guy came off a bit uncaring or unknowing talking about loft when angle of attack and a more square club path would pretty much instantly fix a ton.
Also you have a really good swing speed man! If you got your swing tweaked just a little in lessons you’d be really crushing it. You had 260+ totals with like a 1.39 smash. Think if it’s 1.46ish! 💪
I’ve been looking at getting PXG clubs next spring but I’m such an introvert and don’t like talking to ppl that experience would overwhelm me. Plus I’m still a noob at golf and all the macro stuff goes way over my head
Its so chill. Its one on one and you will learn so much. Seriously, I get it I used to be the same way.
One of the best parts of golf is meeting people. I was an introvert as well but I soon learned that most golfers are. But they are also extreamly friendly and polite and understand that once the round is over so is the “relationship”
9:51 doesn’t lower torque promote a fade (if it promotes any shot shape)?
How much of a surcharge was that shaft, as it is not a standard offering?
Measuring your success in the Dispersion after just 3 hits per is not good advice at all. You have a hell of a lot more ball speed with less swing speed and but more spin in the Ping, those can be dialed in. Change your shaft to something lighter and lower your loft a bit less spin and it will be 15 yards longer then the PXG
I believe all premium drivers are pretty much the same, getting fit is the difference.
What driver do you use
$200 uncharge for the Graphite design shaft.
I was fit by Tyler as well. He was great.
That is awesome. What were you getting fitted for, which club or clubs?
@@GolfersAuthority Gen 6 Driver as well. Same shaft too. Only 7.5*. Will be doing irons in a couple years. AZ desert golf and stones takes a toll on them.
Yeah it does!
@@vincehyman7935
There you go worth every penny. An extra 3 yards for $800. 😂
All you had to do is get the Ping G410 that is a 9 degree and make the head a bit lighter to begin with... you wasted your money dude. The end.
How much up charge for the shaft??
Take your ping to a real fitter, I’m sure it can be dialed in.
