    As much as there are trendy boutique makers out there, I still ended up loving the older DiMarzio designs. What a way to keep a legacy! The Model J is like my favorite pickup ever!

    That guy desperately wants to keep making that guitar but Sadowsky refuse to let him without a fight!

    Hi,
    Yes, DiMarzio has made pickups for both Sadowsky bass' and guitars for a number of years. However, these models are modified to Rodger's requirements.
    Hope that helps,
    Larry DiMarzio

    DiMarzio brilliance and quality matched with Sadowsky beauty and quality (the instruments) = AWESOME!! How can that get any better. I don't think the quality can get any better than that. It has always been a dream of mine to own a Sadowsky bass. This is art in it's greatest splendor.

    Roger is absolutely fantastic and dedicated Bass Guitar/Guitar maker!
    I have so much respect for his passion (and him personally) to produce probably the best sounding and playing "fender like" MUSICAL!! instruments!!
    I'm proud to be one of his many loyal customers...

    Great little film, Larry, thanks for posting. Roger's passion is so evident there, what a fantastic product. I had a P+J DiMarzio set in a US P until recently, sounded great with both pups up full. :-D

    I own a Sadowsky NYC Ultra Vintage Jazz and I have a second one on order that should be ready by mid-May. IF you are a Fender jazz or P player you have to check out a Sadowsky NYC bass. They are THE BEST! My UV Jazz blows away the Fender Custom Shop NOS jazz I had. It was NO CONTEST! Roger is the KING!

    Hi Larry,
    I have some Sadowsky basses, different pickups (single-coil, humcancelling, soapbars...) They all sound great and have my favorite PUs! Specially the Single-Coil, is awesome.

    @LarryDiMarzio it would be really insightful to hear more about which stock pickups the sadowskys are tweaked from ... eg Walter Becker's Sadowsky HSS floyd S model guitar which is also apparently Dimarzio custom-made for the instrument ?

  • @LarryDiMarzio
    @LarryDiMarzio  Před 14 lety

    @Fjord76
    Sadowsky has specific requests for all of their models. The differences sometimes take the form of custom magnet staggers, wiring and EQ.

  • @LarryDiMarzio

    Pickups with adjustable polepieces might work, but before he replaces the DP149s, he might try adjusting the pickups a little further away from the strings on the E side with the 2 height screws. It might solve the problem if the E is only a little louder than the other strings.

    I love DiMarzio J-bass pickups!! In fact I will be replacing my current ones with model J's. I was able to choose these because I heard them in several CZcams videos. I would love to hear the P&J together. Would you happen to Know of any video where there being used.(In a passive bass) The thing I love most about your pickups is that they sound active. Unbelievable tone!!!!!

    A bolt-on neck that fits with the body so precisely, as if it were a set neck - absolutely the best way to do it.

    You might like the Area J 5-string set. However, you should email us at tech@dimarzio.com for the dimensions of our 5-string pickups, to be certain they are direct replacements for the stock pickups.

    Hi,
    Sorry you but you are wrong. Most Sadowsky guitars and basses use Custom DiMarzio pickups. Although they are similar to the regular DiMarzio line Steve Blucher and Rodger have made modifications to the pickups to work better in the Sadowsky instruments. Hope this removes your confusion.
    Regards,
    Larry DiMarzio

    Light!!? my Jazz Bass weight 7,7 lbs!
    Many old Fender Jazz Basses
    the good sounding ones from early 60's
    weighted around 7,5 to 8,5 lbs.

    I have a TBC Jazz bass"The Bass Company" & I just put in an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. I want to put in a pair of your Ultra 5 Jazz pickups. Would those pickups match well with that preamp? Or would they even fit that bass. Cause, I just love the tone of the Ultra Jazz 5.

    I worked with a musician who used to work in Larry's shop and he had a pair of custom wound cream colored passive pickups on his Jazz bass. They were the clearest, most transparent full sounding passive pickups I have ever heard. Wish I could afford one of Roger's beautiful basses ! By the way does he use graphite rods in the neck?

    I own a Standard NYC Jazz Bass since 2000 and I've never tried or heard any bass that sounds as good or better than mine :D
    I just wanted to know one thing:on the pickup covers there's a Sadowsky logo but I've been told the pickups are DiMarzio's.Can you please confirm that ?

    Huh. I've really liked what I heard from these instruments so far, but I would be curious to know what it sounds like unchambered. For my Les Paul I specfically got one unchambered because I didn't care for the sound of the chambered ones.

    Hello Sir, My dad is a bass player he has a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and he put DP 149's in his bass and it really sounds good he loves it but his "E" string is a little louder than rest he thinks if he installed DP 123's the adjustable pole pieces would fix this problem, by lowering the pole pieces on the string on the bridge neck pickups what do you think?
