Remove the set screw that holds the blade in place, remove the blade, and fill the opening with JB Weld, coating the tang also. Insert the screw before the JB Weld sets, and the knife will be better than new in 24-48 afters after the JB Weld cures.

My brother in-law bought me this exact knife. This thing is no joke. Sharp right out the package. I've always had knifes. I'm Canadian. I've had some of the greatest knives. I loved this one the most. It's comfortable with gloves, or without gloves..
    .
This is one of the greatest knives🇨🇦

I pulled the set screw out drilled all the way throw and put a pin in to hold blade into the handle. Took the kit out added to it to make better
Like water proof matches better fishing kit and for a cheep $8.00 knife it’s a good backup just have to put some work into it

Gordon is a store brand of H.F. 3Cr steel is a softer but still durable grade that is highly rust resistant, therefore a good choice for a blade that will be exposed to the great outdoors. Just know that you will be sharpening it a little more often, depending on the amount of heat treating it got at manufacture. If the matches were not waterproofed, you can make them so by dipping them into shellac. The wood splitting here was a good test of blade durability, but I would in practice only split until I could force the wedge open by hand, saving wear. As a $10 spare, as long as you remove the compass before splitting (much smaller pieces of) wood, and don't baton it too hard, you should be okay.

I put the survival-contents of the handle into an empty paper nickel roll (and, left a little triangular flap up at the 'top' end), and put them back into the handle that way, to make it easier to get them out of the handle. And, you can just remove them from the handle [they can then fit pretty well inside the sheath], and replace them with an actual roll of nickels/quarters for added weight and mass (and money; another survival item); it fits very nicely inside the handle. Maybe add the appropriate hex-key, and a small diamond sharpening stone, to the survival-contents that came with the knife. 😉

Nice video, might pick one up just to have lol. As far as the compass I think it definitely would be ideal to take it off when doing any heavy chopping or splitting since seeing yours falling off.

Wsy better than nothing. I was told yrs ago that the saw on the knives werent really made for sawing wood but was for descaling fish.

The two best purposes for it is quick notching branches for lashing and I used mine on dead wood to make dust for kindling lighting. I know I'd rather use a pruning saw to cut wood, carry a HF folding one when I go camping.

@@MNWoodland okay! I have also seen where people remove the hex, drill through and pin the blade with a bit of epoxy. These aren't really available here in Canada that I have seen but might make a cheap and cheerful project!

Is the blade being held in by a single screw? No wonder it’s loose. They should have added at least 3 screws to prevent the blade from getting loose like that

Most people don't beat knives with wood or split logs with one...that's what an axe is for. If anyone ever hit any of my knives like that they would not be standing up for long...

When showing a blades sharpness, using paper means nothing. Cmon guys, we know this. You get what you pay for.
Ok, on a budget. Buy a Mora or a coldsteel, etc. These knives can be dangerous. A simple victorinox kitchen knife, using a home made sheath is far better and useful.

It's a good knife easy to fix it is not a bad knife or crap it's actually not made for batoning or chopping it is made to cut and use as a spear and for making wood spikes and flat wood sides of the tops just saying truth about its real purpose of point I use epoxy on the blade and screw same thing and make it stronger with jb weld just to fill in the cracks and then put bike inertube tire over the handle to get better gripping and add wax over the new matches never use the matches it comes with an extra additional things that are better the knife is made for doing light mid tasks not big tasks just saying truth fact about it and what I know as a expert of survival and urban and gorilla warfare experience I know things well enough to say besides if it means your life you want what would work without failure no excuse 86 deadly ways experts make I can truly say I'm not proud of being a expert to be exact for I don't believe in miss leading or doing people wrong I hate scammers and people who never listen to reason with common sense understanding what could happen and what can truly end one's life it's something from experience I have with survival self-defense an understanding if your going to baton get a different knife with out a saw back that is thick spine and made for the job just being honest it's definitely good to carry multiple different types of knives and multi tools for good reasons large to mediumsmall to small to small small
