In part 2 of this week’s Mexico vlog, we’re in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo on the small, tropical island of Holbox.
When you’re at Isla Holbox, it’s kind of obligatory to rent a golf cart at least once so we had to do that. It wasn’t without its troubles though. As a matter of fact, it was kind of a piece of garbage. However, it did get us where we needed to go most of the time.
We took the golf cart around to explore the island, we stopped by a beach club for some mouthwatering margaritas, and we had to head out to Punta Cocos to check out the breathtaking island sunsets.
It is really difficult to find affordable food and drinks on Holbox but after about a week on the island we managed to find a couple of restaurants where we can get reasonably-priced thirst quenchers and hunger destroyers. In this video, we’re going to show you a couple of our favorite places on the island, including one where you can get a delicious lobster pizza!

This video was fun guys. My wife and I have resented golf carts a couple time on Isla Mujeres and it’s always been exactly like that. Totally sketchy lol. We travel a lot and we always try to learn the basics in the local language. I just feel like it’s respectful, and usually locals really appreciate us trying even if we’re not perfect! Isla Holbox looks awesome!

Never visited HolBox, but I spent a few days in EL Cuyo beginning this year and I fell in love with the place for being so quiet, having so few people on its infinitely long beautiful beach, and I would like to return one day despite that while driving back to the airport I had to bribe the police twice. That was a very mexican experience!

The tiny island of Isla Holbox has a great laidback vibe to it. Along with the beautiful beaches and glorious sunshine, its glittering Caribbean waters are also home to incredible marine life, with whale sharks being the pick of the lot. Above water is just as wonderful

Must have changed a lot. I was there for about a week 15 years ago and I thought it was reasonable expense wise and really beautiful. Whale sharks were awesome.
The best way to experience Holbox is via a day trip like Holbox Mexico out of playa del Carmen you see everything to see and eat for under 100 bucks. 3 hour trip there but stops along the way. An awesome full day.

Sunset is so fab. Did you go to the dark sky reserve area for the bioluminescence? Incredible on a clear night. Like a dome of stars. Magical. The kayak tour of the mangroves is also fabulous. Go early while still cool. And the boat tour to the other little islands and bird reserve. Super cool. The water is only about 15 - 30 inches deep. You're really missing the best parts of the island.

Watched ur Ocean resort vids today for the 4th time n then the Jade vids for the 4th time also. Watched part 1 of this again n now have watched this one. Hoping ur camera is okay after it's stay in the rice. Maybe AM would comp u a room at a Dreams or Secrets next !!!
wow that is so undeveloped lower florida keys. and the paths are flooded based on tides just like the lower keys too. so cool. but man those golf carts look pricey.

That sunset was beautiful! Love how the crane showed up just in time for the capture! When driving to Punta Cocos (or anywhere), are there signs showing you where to go on the roads, or do you have to rely on GPS throughout the island?
You can’t get lost, sometimes there will be signs but not on every street. You can get to Punta Cocos by just asking people. No big deal you can get there easy.
Have enjoyed breakfast at the French bakery but don’t know how we missed the mobile dessert vendor 😜

Great video. I really enjoy all of your interesting adventures. I’m looking forward to your adventures at places in the United States in the near future. Las Vegas is calling you and I’m sure that you will have fun even with the elephant sitting on the planet. Waiting for the elephant to get up and move on will take forever. Holbox was always expensier, it was not the right moment to go, not the right month... but you went to the expensier hotel I have been there is great! You rented the golf car... you went to the expensier places to eat... definitely you took bad decitiions... Holbox is la joya 💎!!

On your next visit to Holbox, you walk the sandbar to punta Mosquito. Not near as many bugs and you get all the way there.

So sad you couldn't go all the way to Punta Mosquito. I recommend you to go to Holbox during a drier season and go to Punta Mosquito as it is a _heaven_, so so beautiful. If someone asks me what is my favorite place on earth, it's Punta Mosquito. I found you guys only a few days ago on CZcams, I really love watching your videos, you guys seem genuinely such nice people, and Laska is super cute! I love how you really get in to know to the culture and food, and really care about the nature and getting to know to the locals. Mexico has a special place in my heart, however I've only visited Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Campeche and Chiapas, but I hope someday I could travel around the country like you have. I'm in Holbox right now as I'm re-watching this video (I arrived just today) - cause I want to know which restaurants are good.... But yeah, the roads here are insane. I came with one large piece of luggagge and as my airbnb was really close to the port and I wanted to save money, I decided not to taky any taxi. Well, I did save money but it was quite an ordeal as the road was full of water and a sidewalk was barely existent. On top of that, it took me some time to find the appartment. But everything turned out just fine. I'm in the departamento Brisa del Mar, which is right at the mainstreet and very, very cozy and clean. And the landlord has an extremely cute dog. Tomorrow I want to book a tour and the day after tomorrow I definitely want to walk toward Punta Mosquitos. Can't wait to explore this abandoned part of the world.
I hope you guys decide to settle somewhere away from Cancun. I'd love to meet you guys but no Cancun airport for me ever again. Yup...that was me lol Safe travels guys! Hope to meet you in 2022
What were those dark cocktails you guys were drinking with the lobster pizza? When you get to Merida I highly recommend eating at the Museo de Gastronomia Yucateca...beautiful setting and delicious food!
Those were their “blackaritas” made with activated charcoal, liquid smoke, tequila, and lime. Super tasty! And thanks for the recommendation

Hi guys..I love your travels..but I agree I will not go back to Holbox . Bad experience with not being able to rent golf carts due to flooded roads and mosquitos are bad.
Isla Holbox is where the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico meet. Mostly the water is murky, not clear.

Love your videos!! Great info for planning a Mexico vacation. Question for you about the money? Is it more about your accommodations or food? I watched your videos and your meals were just a few bucks which seems affordable. I am looking to go next month in August with my teen daughter and wondering how many days to stay in Holbox. Also we are gluten and dairy free so how did you that work for you with meals?
