The best jacket I bought in my life..quality, warmth, rawness, and elegant shape. I highly recommend it. I wore it in Massachusetts 👌 Boston 🇺🇸❤️🇰🇼
Another really great review Alex. I love he detail and the playfulness... especially the outtakes at the end. Nice! It shows that you are both fun loving and conscientious.
Makes me smile watching this... I ended up buying this jacket which is now called Nuuk and truly a jacket that you can snuggle into and is armour against the cold and wet. The quality feels like its a once in a lifetime buy. Thanks for your awesome review!
I got that one too, too bad you can't take the hood off that one
had mine 6 years now. great daily jacket
Have not yet closed it and not felt like i am completely encased in "personal climate zone". I might debate the "Completely waterproof" though. as i have walked in medium rain, (ok, for extended time, over an hour) and on my right arm, about at elbow height, it got a little wet underneath. BUT it stayed warm. Nothing i would return it for. Everything else is brilliant. It's a rugged piece of kit. Not an ultralight jacket. I was able to roll it into it's own hood, but that's still about 4-5 liter volume. If it ever breaks. i will probably buy another one. The only caveat i have, i have to travel vertically to find Temperatures where it is actually challenged, for shopping trips within my town, a lighter jacket is more than enough.
You really have to be still in snow for a few hours to really appreciate this one. But i do.
Just got this jacket, great review!
Another great review guys.
How do the Fjällräven Greenland and Singi down jackets compare?
Keep up the good work.
Regards.
Bob
I have the down version and it is supper warm!
Great review ty
Great review! Love mine! Perfect for weather in Canada 🇨🇦👌
Thanks so much! What part of Canada are you from?

I just bought the Yupik and checked some reviews afterwards, found yours... Really great, love it. Subbed you and looking forward for more! Best wishes for your channel!
Thanks for the love! It would be great to hear how the jacket performs for you.
This is a great bombproof jacket. Perfect for globally-warmed sloppy mixed winter sloppy New England weather, They've updated it and renamed it Nuuk, but you can still get your hands on Yupiks out there, from Fjallraven verified resellers (important for warranty) at a nicely reduced price.
I have the older version , love that it has more pockets then the new variant
I have this jacket and I am very satisfied
What can be fixed?
The canopy is too wide and the field of view is drastically reduced. It is not very practical and additional cable adjustment would help.
I also miss the addition of ski jackets that button the pants.
This accessory is used not only to connect the pants, but also prevents the flow of air from below ...
Would you recommend the Singi down over this? Would be great to see you do a review of the Singi.
Nice review. Thank you
Thanks! Happy Holidays.🙂
Small survival gear backup and fire starting redundancy and probably much more with those pockets.
Thank you for introducing this Parka. May I kindly ask if you could use the English subtitle function? It will help my friends to know. Thank you in advance.
Shame the hand warmer pockets are not higher up.
great review, Im gonna get one in few days :-)
Did you get your Christmas wish?
@@BeaverSportsAK yeeep.. And I love My Parka😊
Great review! Is Alex wearing the “Dusk” in this video? Thanks!
It is 032 Mountain Grey
I know that yupik is bigger than other jackets. my chest is 43.7, I am 1.86 meters tall and weigh 97 kg. What size do you recommend?
I wear tight clothes.
I really regret that I didnt buy it when I had the chance
Awesome review! I think I am going to pull the trigger on this jacket. What color are you sporting in the video?
Thank you! It is 032 Mountain Grey
If you can't find the color online, we have it in stock here at the shop and we are able to ship anywhere in the world.
Hi, thanks for the review! I'm 184cm and 90kg, my chest width is about 109cm, normally I wear L, but I heard that yupik is a bit larger. What do you think I should go for L or M size?
Hi, taken from the fjallraven page, Model height: 186cm
Model size: M. I'm 175 cm so I'll go fot the S. :)
Have you done a review of the Fjallraven Barents Parka? I am torn between the Yupik, and Barent Parka. The Barent seems much more durable, but the Yupik seems warmer.
Hi Joseph. We unfortunately don't carry the Barents Parka in our store, so we cannot review it. We will ask our rep if he can send us one to review for you!
@@BeaverSportsAK Awesome! Look forward to seeing your review on the Barent Parka!
what are you wearing right beneath the parka?
Did this become the Nuuk parka? Just renamed?
16 pockets?! I'd have to buy stuff just to put in them
I realize I am quite off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream new movies online?
@Lian Asher I watch on FlixZone. Just google for it =)
I got mine today. It's perfect here in the northern part of Sweden
Epic!!! Let us know how you like it!
@@BeaverSportsAK it’s amazing. I love it. I actually live in Örnsköldsvik. That’s were fjällräven was founded
@@Emanuel-hd2lk Thank you for your comment. I am German but will move to Umeå for my Masters. I was searching for a good and warm winterjacket that would get me though the cold winter. After your comment I am sure I finally found it. 👍🏻😁
@@niklaswerwick1947 I'm glad I could help. I hope you like it here in Sweden :D
I have one of these. It's weirdly warm for a coat with that amount of insulation. I've worn it in 0 degrees F, with only a sweatshirt underneath. It does its job quite well. The downside is that it's the most uncomfortable garment I've ever owned.
Uncomfortable? how so?
@@michaelrulz45 - It digs into my shoulders, as if I'm wearing a backpack.
Is Yupik and Nuuk the same jacket?
With an undershirt and sweater on, you think this would perform well with little to no motion in -10 degrees? Thinking the singi parka might be a bit warmer
Yes, for the majority of people, the Yupik Parka would be plenty warm enough at -10F with an undershirt and sweater on. The Singi has a fill weight of 295g to the Yupik's 250g so it might be a little warmer for you. It also uses G-1000 for an outer material, doesn't have the waterproof membrane, and has down fill in addition to synthetic so there's a lot to consider in terms of differences between the two. At temperatures around -10F, either one will keep you warm.
-Alex :-)
@@BeaverSportsAK awesome. I’m 5’11 and 180 pounds. Usually wear a medium. Think that should work? Also any issues with the left handed zipper? Thanks for your help!
A medium sounds like it should work. To double check, Fjallraven has a great size guide on their website that you could use to verify. And left handed zippers aren't an issue. Fjallraven, Rab, Mammut all use them. It's different than what many in the US are used to but after a few days of zipping one up, you won't even notice the difference.
@@Arook1427 They run small i the numbers. I am normally using XL. I had to buy XXL.
@@deepsix1827 Go to a shop, try and buy.
Nice vid! You missed one pocket😑! There is a pocket inside the low frontpockets aswell.
Haha oh dang! We double checked the Yupik Parka we have on the floor and couldn't find the pocket you've mentioned... is the hidden pocket in the hand-warming pockets or the snapping pockets?
😵Sry my bad! Its was another model!! Cheers😐!
@@bulletnutz6382 Okay, good. Thanks for letting us know. Have a great day!
I just bought mine yesterday in new York 🗽
Awesome! How do you like it?
@@BeaverSportsAK not the OP but I bought one in Ontario and it's been a beast love this jacket
Hey man, how tall are you and what size did you go with? It seems they run large?
Hi Colin! Alex is 5'7" and has a fighting weight of 150lbs. He usually wears size men's small. Yes, this piece is meant to layer underneath as well as be big enough to fit lots of things in the pockets and still be able to zip up.
Hey Colin, I am 5'9" and 175lbs. I bought the S size and it fits me just right. Today I just bought a sweater and the small size fits me just right as well. I am in between S-M usually.
If you go on Fjallraven’s website and find this jacket, there is a find my size. They ask for your height, weight, shoulders, stomach, and a few other things. That will most likely get you a perfect fit. If you don’t trust it you can go to an REI to try some on. They usually have them in stock but you could call to see if they have any.
@Beaversports, could you please shed some light on the differences between the nuuk and yupik?
From Fjallraven's own video on the Men's Nuuk, they replied to the same question with this: "Hi, It has more sustainable fabrics and updated features like cord stoppers and pullers. The hood is not removable."
From Fjallraven's webpage, it seems they've reduced the number of pockets from the Yupik's 16 to the Nuuk's 11.
@@GetUpTheMountains thank you.
Hi! You say in the description "usually wears small". In the video is he wearing small?
Yes, Alex is wearing a small
Wow it looks huge for a size small
Do the sleeves have Velcro or elastic bands at the wrist area
Velcro
How is the mountain gray color in person?
We think it's quite pretty. It blends in nicely with surrounding natural colors you'd find in the outdoors.
Does the beard have a huge impact on facial warmth? On a serious note 1/ How does this compare to down jackets like those by Eddie Bauer and Canada Goose 2/ I noticed you were wearing a packable down underlayer. Is that because it is not warm enough?
Each company has a range of products, so it's hard to compare this specific parka to a whole brand. Is there a particular model you are looking at from either Eddie Bauer or Canada Goose?
The underlayer you are seeing is an insulated vest. When we shoot videos, Alex often has to open up the jackets to show the inside pockets and lining and if we're filming more than one product, he will have to change jackets in between. From Alex: "I like to keep a light insulation layer on even if I'm wearing a super insulated parka, not necessarily because the parka isn't warm, but just so I don't get too cold during those brief moments when I don't have the parka zipped up or I don't have a jacket on at all."
That being said, don't be afraid to layer underneath the Yupik Parka if it gets extremely cold. That would just depend on the temperature outside, your sensitivity to cold, and your activity level (standing still vs. walking, for example).
@@BeaverSportsAK Thanks for replying to my comment and insights into the interior layer ! Your channel is awesome. The Eddie Bauer I am looking at is the Superior Down Jacket and I am also considering this Yupik Parka.
@@toasty-toast Thank you! We are doing our best to provide some good and entertaining content. After having taken a look at the Eddie Bauer Superior Down Parka(EBSDP), there are a few key differences to note. The Yupik Parka has 11 more pockets than the EBSDP and is much more waterproof(2x), as the water column is 10,000 mm vs 5,000 mm. Usually 10,000 mm is the minimum to state that the clothing item is waterproof, but when combined with a DWR finish, the EBSDP will most likely be able to handle light rain pretty well for the first few outings. A DWR finish will need to be re-applied to maintain optimal performance. On the other hand, the down insulation of the EBSDP will keep you nice and warm for sure! The Fjallraven Yupik Parka has the upper hand when conditions are rough and might get you wet. If you plan to mainly use your parka in town and in dry climates without much of a physical output, the EBSDP will do great. If you're planning some more intense adventures, the Yupik Parka will keep you very happy.
Hope that helps and thanks for your support!
@@toasty-toast Here's a reply direct from Alex himself: "Both jackets appear to be made for similar conditions. Realistically, either one would probably work fine. What do you get with the extra expense of the Yupik Parka? - Both jackets are on the lower end of 'waterproof' but the Yupik is 10k on the water column and the Eddie Bauer is 5k (Yupik is twice as waterproof), Yupik has more pockets, and (I'm going off of photos and specs here as we don't carry Eddie Bauer at Beaver Sports, so keep that in mind) it appears the Yupik has a slightly more durable outer construction and beefier zippers and hood/wrist adjustments. Whether or not that is worth it is up to you!"
@@BeaverSportsAK thanks!
are you sure that that is mountain grey. it looks like dusk.
The camera settings made the parka look a little darker than usual. Sorry about the confusion!
I'd buy some tiny dime bags and place a single peanut M&M in each, then put one in each pocket in hopes that a cop had to search me one day.
Haha epic! Package in a package in a package
Nice coat. Too bad the zipper takes 10 minutes to engage. Also the coat absorbs water and adds weight. The water is blocked from the inner lining by the poly membrane. There’s a limit to how much cold this cost will protect against. Not for Greenland or North Canada
Just put on some greenland wax and boom.. waterproof
You shouldn’t put wax on this coat…you’ll damage the DWR and breathability, It’s not G1000, the membrane is fully waterproof in this particular coat, so waxing isn’t necessary.
@bens1972 This jacket is waterproof.Wax,only on G1000 materials.
Waterproof it is not; got soaked the last powder day on the ski hill.
Dang. Did you apply any extra G-1000 wax?
@@BeaverSportsAK from my knowledge this parka isn't fitted with G1000 and therefore not wax compatible? If it is then by all means I will try waxing it this ski season.
@@BeaverSportsAK Do NOT wax Hydratic fiber !
What about the Peeling of the not realy rugged outer Material, while wearing a Backpack? And the Velcro fastener is scrubbing and damaging the outer Material too. Well I bet you dont know anything about that, it takes a few months until this Problem become visible. So fjällräven cool expensive jacket, but not rugged. Be awear of that, bevor buying. I am not the only one with this issue.
That's great feedback. Thank you!
Yea, you are. No one else complained about this.

I have worn the woman's version of this coat for over 3 years, daily backpack wearing while cycle commuting, taking the train and taking backpack off and on many times over the day, wearing in rain and snow, etc, and it still looks brand new. I even got hit by a car and slid across the pavement in the coat and you can't even tell! Is it possible you got a defective item? It might be worth reaching out to Fjallraven to replace your jacket under their warranty.
I just wanted to share my experience in case someone else reads this and is put off - this is a fantastic coat! I just got the men's version for my boyfriend for Christmas.
