I would do this in a heartbeat. Please, Larian, give us a way to give our girl an actual happy ending. She deserves it more than maybe anyone except Astarion, in terms of fucked up backstories.

Samantha Béart deserves as much recognition for Karlach as Neil Newbon as Astarion. This scene clearly shows why.
Dude, i sat there stunned while she was giving this speech. I litterally just said nothing in response. I was felt so insanely bad for her. It was unfair and unjust.

Absolutely!!!!!! And I thought I fucked up first. I thought she left for good. I was so shocked that I didn't think right. I reloaded and tried to prevent that scene. 😅
They should've added a hug option in this scene. I can't stand looking at her this sad without hugging her.

@@sasukekun1997 That would actually be really cool. She's loosing her shit so much here that touching her would burn someone in the moment again, and Tav giving her a hug and not letting go despite the pain. Well that's just a chef's kiss.
I stopped playing the game for a while to cry after that scene. I always compared Karlach to my friend back at high school who died via cancer. He had the same personality and attitude as her, always looking at the bright side of life. But like Karlach, he also snapped and sunk into the lowest point of his life because of his illness. I was in the front row when he wailed in despair. No matter how I always say to myself that it won't get any worse, reality would have its way on me to remind me otherwise. A cruel reminder that yeah, life isn't fair. Took me a week before I play BG3 again to continue.

But a voice actor who acheive that by herself? I dont know a lot actually

Astarion was great but that scene really was perfectly executed. She should've been nominated too.

Hearing the instrumental “I Want To Live” motif in the context of this scene sent shivers down my spine
they play it even harder in her ending vignette where she accepts death as the sun rises over Baldur's Gate
I heard Will Ramos scream in my head:

my god. my poor little heart cant take this.... the voice actress 10/10 performance. Karlach is always acting a bit silly. but when the serious side comes out. god damn. trough out that entire dialogue i was hoping for a hug ... she needed one. and that last love you. FUCK YOU LARIAN (but well done) i will turn the faerun inside out for a cure!

Neil's performance ss Astarion is amazing and all, but this scene is just so amazing. She deserves as much love as Neil gets, this scene brought me to tears.

I'm kinda upset there's no option to hug her in this scene.
2:57 this is amazing voice acting only a few times in my life I have heard someone do that such a sound of deep raw anger and sadness and this voice actress did it so perfectly. They casted so well in this game.
I told my group to not talk during this cutscene because we used karlach as our 4th the entire game. I saw this before hand and needed them to hear it saying "this shit fucking hurts" and after it was pretty quiet between us. Such a painful scene
I got to this scene today and can’t stop thinking about it. Remarkable performance, ripped my heart out. Also I appreciate the platonic “love you” at the end. Like yes, that’s my Tav’s best friend 😂😭 Really makes me want to join the chorus for wanting more non-romantic hugs because Karlach needs one.
It's so sad but its honestly one of the best cutscenes in video games.
That is perhaps the first performance in *years* that's gotten me actually crying at a work of fiction, well done.
Man it's not fair........she only has 3 choices and all of them aren't great. It's either lose your humanity and become a mind flayer, back to avernous for an eternity of fighting....or become dust....
Karlach and Astarion made me cry so much in this game.
Try not to cry. Cry a lot. Fucking love karlach. The line she says to you at camp made me cry so hard. From every frenzy scream she echoes to the skies, all the times she bailed us out with her tavern brawler skills, all her wonderful dialogue and the voice actor who made this wonderful character come to life. Will forever be one of my all time favorite game characters.
This game is full of absurdly good performances, but this scene might legit be the best one.

This is the first scene in this game where I legitimately cried
Just finished the game the other day, got to this scene, and just…started crying. I didn’t use Karlach too much in my playthrough as I was a fighter and my play style just never needed her too much, but once I remembered in act 3 that…she’s not going to make it, I took her everywhere. Did whatever she wanted, went to the circus with her, tried to make her happy. I *sobbed* at this scene. Because unlike Astarion, a well-written character in his own right, Karlach’s still a good person. She never wanted other people to suffer because of what she went through. To see her just break down like this was heartbreaking, because she’s 100% right. It isn’t fucking fair. I chose to let her make her own decision at the end, and she went to Avernus with Wyll. I know we’re not getting a dlc, so in my mind Wyll and Karlach do find a cure and all is well. I will accept nothing else.
That scene hit me so hard. Never experienced such a heartbreak moment before in gaming and i guess somehow everyone can share their feeling of feeling betrayed by ur life/destiny.
I really hope the release a DCL (or simply bring back all the cut content) in which u can restore the crown either for mystra or gale and get a "wish" spell as a reward. Either to heal karlach or, if u choose the "good" side ending for astarion, to restore his humanity.
I heard that in the epilogue karlach will mention how she and wyll found a possible cure for her heart while in avernus

I think this moment hit harder for me too because I had the music off, so hearing her scream her heart out in dead silence was so :(
Pretty much every companion VA, plus the villains are perfect.
But this scene and the end scene at the docks with Karlach are simply astonishing. Those two plus Astarion after you beat Cazador honestly have set the bar for gaming VAs

This is one off those moments to just let a person relieve those emotions honestly she had build up so much hatred and so much anger that when her source for all this rage was gone she didn’t know what to do with those emotions so with she doesn’t have much of a choice but to let them all out unfortunately they will be let out on Tav you know she doesn’t hate you or anything but she needs this she even apologizes back at the camp when you talk with her again
Meanwhile me not getting this scene becuase she was dead at the end of the encounter, so it bugged out: *IS THIS MY REWARD, FOR FIGHTING. A BUG?*
*(resurrect Gortash and force him to apologize to Karlach)* would be a hilarious option in this scene if the mc was a psychopath xd

There is definitely some super secret way to save her, every character in the game has a neutral/Goodish ending. Why can’t she?

if wyll doesn't become a duke he will go accompany her in avernus. that's the closest to a good ending I suppose
She lives if she transforms into a MF to stop the end boss; that ending for her was pretty unambiguously good, tbh.
her good endings were connected to the cut content in the upper city.

I had to spend 50 hours just to get her to 'like me', then another 300 'to be my love', then another 20 hours to lover her so much, we went down to Avernus with Will in hand. I missed some stuff sure, but seeing all the potential endlines, Karlach is it.

Karlach might as well be talking directly to the writer who thought this was a great ending for her character. Every single character can have a good ending, except Karlach. The world can be saved from Mindflayer fuckery, but not Karlach. If you want to tell a story of a doomed character take Thane from Mass Effect for example, one of the first things he tells you is that he is dying. There is no false hope of changing his fate (like the two upgrades to Karlach's infernal engine) and he himself is at peace with his end. I really don't understand what the writing team was thinking.
that sometimes you can't get a good ending despite how hard you try. some things are beyond your control.
@@fhrizo the thing is, if you play Karlach as an origin character, there seems to be a third upgrade to your infernal engine that cures you.
@@user-if7zm Huh so the only way to save Karlach is to be Karlach so she can get plot armor.
@@Smith-rb1qf It's weird. But if I remember correctly, her character was the last one to be added in early access maybe Larian just didn't have enough time. Her quests are just get some iron while other characters have a lot more going on.

Tried to watch this yesterday but it bugged out the whole time. Seeing it now on CZcams... Wow...
Where does she go after this? I cannot find her anywhere and she has one of the stones in her inventory. She's not at camp after resting a few days and her inventory isn't in the camp chest. I cannot continue the game without all three stones. Please help.

My one complaint with this game is that sometimes the background music doesn’t fit with what’s going on in the scenes. This scene still killed me though
this scene's music is literally an adaptation of the song "I want to live", which you get to hear, with lyrics, between act 2 and 3.
I'm not at that stage of the game yet, but fuck.... I have to save Karlach, it's not possible for the only ending to her story to be her death....
