- Our local shop recently started selling BENEFICIAL BUGS! We are currently offering lady bugs and praying mantids, which you simply just release into your garden or specific plants and let them go to work! To help provide a better home for the mantids that end up hatching early, Brett demonstrates how to build a variety of different terrariums!

You are awesome! I’m going to build a mantis habitat for my grandsons. They will be so excited next time they spend the weekend!
Why the extra “Oooo”? It’s not just “ootheca”, not “oo-ootheca”? Genuinely wondering if I’ve been wrong this whole time.
Hello from Winter Park Orlando, Fl
This is awesome. I hope to find these locally. I would love to have these guys to keep pests at bay :) this is so cool
My dad fund a pray mantis and caught it so now I’m trying to find and enclosure.
you need to boil in water the wood before put in the enclosure because have many bacteries that can kill your mantis
I’m considering using a chameleon cage for the ootheca that was laid in my house. I’m wondering if you recommend that it be plexiglass or glass versus mesh all the way around and if so if you could explain what the what the difference is and why?
Awesome setup. How do you secure the top of a fish tank for mantids? Do you use a mesh screen under the lid or just leave it with the lid only?
I want one!
I was reading they aren’t the e best for pest control since they move around a lot and also are harmful to good pollinators for the garden like moths, butterflies and bees.
What was that plant called?
Thanks for using the carolina mantis and not the chinese ones!
That is NOT a Carolina mantis ootheca!!
The "big green" mantids (if larger than 3-4"), is an invasive species.
