For a terrarium this size I highly recommend using a false bottom, you can search them up online, but they stop the water and dirt from mixing and causing root rot
I have used falls bottoms in a lot of my terrariums but I didn't want to in this one. If I did it the bonsai would have had even less space . That is also why I made the substrate like that. The wood chips keep it from getting too compacted. Also I keep a close eye on the moisture level in the terrarium and only water when necessary. But thank you for the tip and consern! 😁

I have no need to build whatever ever this is. My German Shepherds probably won't fit inside, but I will watch because I always need something to undo my grumpy mood.

I'd love to make a terrarium with an arboreal tarantula. Terrestrials would require much more soil depth and don't like too much moisture or humidity. Might make it a goal once I start making terrariums and get good at it.
Came for the commentary, stayed for the terrarium and left because both stopped when the vid finished :(
That sounds cool! I also feel like arboreal tarantula's are more interesting to keep. Terrestrials mostly just dig underground and you barely see them. Glad you liked the video!
Terrestrials are my fav tarantulas, butnfossorials are the shits that become pet dirt lol arboreal are just a much better fit for a terrarium set-up, unless I did an arid themed terrarium of sorts.

Man. I wish I could have a cool terrarium like that. I'm too busy to take care of them. The camera angles are very good 👍. I have a deeper and unexpected appreciation for moss.
Most of these terrariums don't take a lot of work to maintain !
A good spray maybe once a week, it would take 2 minutes.

Very luxorious terrarium! Back then I could only afford the animals which were around my house. Usually snails, which I love to this day! I put there everything I could (moss, patch of grass, some piece of wood and so on). Needless to say, the snails love it and they...expired becuse of old age. I have very fond memories of it and thank you for bringing it back to me like this!

Yes so far it is doing very well and I actually going to have to trim it soon. Ofcourse I can't predict what it will do long term 😁
I got told to never open terrariums after once closing them because the ecosystem will get destroyed? Or is it okay to open those for a couple minutes every now and then?
