That triad movement is used a lot in brazilian music. reminds me of milton nascimento - quem perguntou por mim , which is in an album where he had pat metheny on - encontros e despedidas . theres a lot of melodic minor material in jobim, nascimento and borges that would be of great interest to many music lovers i think. thank you for your little gems of inspiration!
You learn the progression by playing it in 3-4 keys. You will them find this or something similar in the music of jazz pianists like Bill Evans. One day in a year or two, it may come up spontaneously in your playing. This is how it happened with me.

Shades of Chopin Nocturne in another scale. The piano sound on your keyboard is so authentic, & sounds fantastic.
Thank you! :) Yes it's a great keyboard (Nord Piano - though you can download the same sound on several of their models - including older ones)

So the altered scale is the seventh mode of a melodic minor ?
Yes. But when you think of it from the perspective of C7, this C aug scale gives you the b9, "#9", b5, b13 and 7 of C7.
Caug? Now I am confused 🤔
