Directed by Christian Szczerba, 2022 Various fish and marine creatures explore the city once darkness sets. An old project, vfx in Blender and After Effects
Doctor Who has some of the coolest ideas and also some of the worst executions and scripts at the same time. I’m in a love/hate relationship with that show
Reminds me of that one Love Death Robots episode with all of the ghost fish, absolutely stunning. This really scratches the Frutiger Aero itch in my brain
Huh… this is kinda what being a fish must feel like in a way. We aren’t used to the water sound around our ears since we don’t live under the surface, but without it, it makes you sorta understand what the feel would be like to be a small fish, and have these giant swimmers above you. Pretty neat
I absolutely love this. Its both wonderful and majestic, and absolutely horrific. The idea of turning a corner and seeing a shark is like a worse version of finding a feral dog in an alleyway.
Had a dream of a giant mechanized whale swimming in the air over a fancy bridge then it was about to fire a laser from it's mouth... then I woke up, lol.

@@DiggitySliceyeah, it’s weird that they made it enormous here when it’s literally the size of a grapefruit in real life. I mean, even at that size you’d think it’d still look weird just floating around like that.
@@eeyorehaferbock7870 there was post going around for a while that showed a museum exhibit of an angelfish about that size claiming that's how big they really are because of deep sea gigantism (I am so tired), so I have to wonder. It could just be an artistic decision, or inspired by the post even knowing it's wrong. I ain't a mind reader, so who knows.
I would totally love for Sharks to just swim around in our skies during the night. Gives me more a of a reason to wanna stay up all night to see my cartilaginous friends :).
All kinds of sea creatures being able to "swim" freely through urban areas is such a bizarre concept and one I imagine from time to time. Seriously, picture the idea of driving through a tunnel late at night, and approaching you from the other end is a blue whale. It'd be pretty damn surreal. Incredible blender project dude. Your passion really shows 🍷🗿
All I see is fresh food swimming unsuspectingly right in front of me. Trap them in the house with fish bait, and you can pick any to cook almoat immediately 😂
My dad always told me when I was little there were, “land sharks,” that lived in our harbour, but you’d only be able to catch sight of them at night. When they’d be in one of the fish’n’chip shops across the street getting their meals for the night. He used to tell me, “They tasted battered fish once and we couldn’t keep them away, so we let them have the harbour at night to make their own. They get the occasional gull who tries to nab a chip, never dive-bombs again. Doesn’t fly much after either.” I was very young, and fully believed in land sharks until I had to do a report in primary, so I did one on sharks, and my dad revealed to me that land sharks do not exist, they do not walk around on their tails and use their fins to squeeze vinegar on their fish’n’chips. I miss him, and this cool video gave me a fun memory of him, so thank you x2 for making something really cool, and for making me smile 😸🏴
This is literally my safe space. Water is such a comforting thing for me; moving in water, drinking (flavoured) water, watching natural water features like rivers, lakes, creeks, and waterfalls, listening to water (splashing, rain, moving water), and even smelling water (the damp rain smell and the indoor pool smells are my favourite). And of course, I like creature that live in/near water. When I was at university, there was a small aquarium that had a touch pool for bamboo sharks (a kind of nurse shark, small and flat) and when I was having a bad day and some money to spare, I would pet the sharks and it was like having a therapy pet. When my therapist asked me to imagine a safe place, the first place I imagined was being underwater in the sea. I felt safe in the water and when I need to go to my safe space, I imagine sharks swimming by me just like in this video.
Animation is really hard, and animating something swimming as if it were underwater is on a next level of hard. It truly is a challange to make whatever's the focus look like it's actually gliding itself through a real body of water, yet I see no flaws here. Absolute cinema, well done.
This reminds me of a Dr Who episode, one of Matt Smith's, I think. It might even have been a Christmas special. It had this same idea, Fish swimming around in air, rather than water. It ended with a wild sleigh ride, powered not by reindeer, but two Great White sharks...
Holy sh*t this is the clostest imaginery to my most beautiful and vivid dream of a fish swimming in the city.. obviously It's in a daytime and there's a skycraper
Everything about it is so cool! The editing, the sound effects, (especially the siren when the shark was out, like patrolling😂), and that these are really incredible creatures that live in our deep blue oceans, not some made up monsters! Love this! Thank you! 🫶
As someone who is terrified of the ocean and many sea creatures, this is straight up Nightmare Fuel. Especially the whales. If I hear that sound, I'm taking cover ASAP.
As someone whose never been in a big city I love the look of the tall apartments, the neon lights and the grimey streets. I wish that i could live in a place like this one day
Well its certainly a very original perspective. Though I think having sharks out and about at night sounds absolutely terrifying! Its like sharknado but more......artistic and well thought out. Great job!
I used to always imagine what it would be like if sea creatures swam through the air. Thank you for making a visual representation. I especially liked seeing a shark swim through the neighborhood 😊

Considering there's an anglerfish here, there's a non-0% chance there are giant and colossal squids out and about, which is fucking horrifying.

Yup. this is exactly what came to my mind when i saw this.
Landsharks are terrifying, and have been so since SNL introduced us to them 50 years ago.

I had this dream as a child, sort of.
Being in a pet store and the fish started swimming in air like it was water.
I had forgotten about that til now.
same here I remember a dream I had as a kid where the fish from my fish tank came out and swam around my room
Same, guess all three of our dreams were "Fishy"
Same here, I dreamed of a huge shark between the trees
I only had an apocalyptic dream in my chidhood with cosmo snakes that swirled themselves around planets and destroyed them.
