- Louisville, Kentucky is standing strong right now with Jack Harlow finally dropping his highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Come Home The Kids Miss You,’ and the “First Class” rapper is back for his third installment on the LIFTOFF L.A. Leakers Freestyle series.
The Leakers Freestyle vet now has three total episodes under his belt and for the 140th segment, Harlow eagerly flexed in just one minute, during the Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk feature. Taking on the legend Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” Jack sends a nod to Pharrell and Snoop saying he thinks the track is the greatest rap beat of all time.
Floating over the infectious beat, Jack spits, “Looking’ ‘round at my gen, wonderin’ who really matching my pen / I keep on showin’ up and y’all boys just absent again / Droppin’ them joints and she got a new set of captions / Y’all don’t got passion, you just be wearing the fashion that’s in / I used to beg for acceptance, don't plan on asking again.

Our whole Southern rap scene since they mid 90s is based off of not just hyperbole, innuendo, etc. But also providing cadence that goes with the beat. Not to just "float" over a beat, ignoring the timing and whatnot. I know I'm not alone on this. But also everyone doesn't have to agree. 👍

Agreed. Decent bars. But not on beat at all. Monotone freestyle, especially just doing your own thing with a lack of cadence (being on beat), isn't isn't me. Regardless love Jack harlow. But I'm also old school. I grew up on real artists, real musicians and real talent. We grew up freestyling literally everyday since I was a kid. And still do it to this day. But I enjoy the challenge of not only being able to make quality bars, with interwoven rhymes, but being on beat and sharing the instrumentals "cadence."

I know I'm getting old lol, I thoroughly listened to jack harlow album to see what the hype was about and checked this out. Idk man. He just lacks depth in his lyrics. He got the flow and image but he needs more depth in his music. But hey I wish him success and hopefully he looks at things objectively as an artist which is hard to do then go deeper. It's like he got it obviously but it's not quite there yet. Maybe in a next project or 2 he'll be up there with the greats. So far rookie of the year tho compared to everything else that's out now.
