Badlands Offroad Jack: www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-o...
By now, almost every automotive enthusiast has seen some type of Offroad Jack.. and with the new Harbor Freight Badlands 3 Ton Off-Road Jack I have a feeling we will start to see more of these in the rear of your local 4x4 owners rig.
$299 is an incredible deal for a cool jack that rolls smooth, lifts plenty, and can even work in various terrain.. But since its an offroad jack, well we need to test it out Offroad!
We put the jack through some very common, and not so common offroad terrain and scenarios to see how it holds up, as well as how convenient it is to use. I wanted to let the product speak for itself, and let the viewer decide how it worked out in the various environments. In my opinion, it did an amazing job and handled everything about as much as i could ask. But in reality, how often do we need to do this stuff on a typical wheeling weekend?
In my mind it boils down to a very simple product.. A floor jack with big wheels that works in/or outside your garage, and its built well and rugged. This is not a new product, but it is a new product offered at a much lower price tag, and in a way makes the dual purpose jack feel a little more useful knowing its not a $600 glorified shop weight.
Please read instruction manual, do not operate jack except for on flat level surfaces..
The Jeep JKU used in this video is every bit of 3 tons, with the Hemi, One Tons, armor, etc, shes a very heavy girl, and the jack didnt hesitate to lift it.

Now THAT is how you test something. Impressive thoroughness.
That was a really well done, honest review video. Poor jack though lol you beat the piss out of it. I’m pretty impressed it held up to all of those things. Good job, Ben!
I have looked at these too as they have caught my eye. There are a couple of “hack” videos on CZcams where someone turns a regular HFT jack into an off road jack. I usually carry a farm jack and a bottle jack. With all jacks you have to be careful with lifting. These type of jacks lift in an arch. If it cannot roll when lifting/jacking, the lift pad moves on the surface it is lifting/jacking and can move enough to slip off.
Seen a bunch of reviews of this jack, but no one else has beat it up this much, good job.
Got mine today, in stock. How many times do you spend good money on something, get it home and when unboxed it is 2 or 3x better than expected? What a beast!
Your the only channel that have seen really put this jack through real test and I'm very impressed. Thanks, I believe I'll be getting me one for sure.
Likewise!
Big pro for this one over pro eagle is that handle locking mechanism. Definitely makes it easy to maneuver.
First actual non bs test .. I'm impressed I have a 2 ton pro eagle and most likely gonna pick this one up soon
nate from dirtlifestyle already did a test on this jack.
@@speeding4fun he did, but it's not as thorough as this one
Love the test you put it through. Excellent scenarios.
Fantastic review man. Glad to see it was really tested. Thanks for the info.
Now that was a true test! I can rest assured in making a purchase after watching this!
Amazing review, exactly what I was looking for. Most of the other reviews were unboxing, and measuring.
I'm thoroughly impressed! You beat the snot out of it and abused it and it still works.
Best testing I've ever seen.🤙
You just sold me on this bad boy. Earned a sub, good stuff
Just ordered one this morning. It will live permanently inside the 1985 M1010 I'm building. Looks like I'll get a lifetime of use around shop and trail🤘
Good to see Cassie too. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Great review showing a lot of real world scenarios. I plan on getting one of these jacks eventually if for nothing else than to use around my yard. My shop jack doesn’t roll very good on grass and dirt.
Video gets amazing at 4:00 when the offroad tests start.
The tilt pivot thing is awesome ❤❤❤
Love this jack... Have used it for others on the trail and been called a savior! Paired it with a Custom Motorsports Jack mount and is super convenient
Thanks great review!
definitely buying one tomorrow!
Fantastic vid!!!! Buying one
Longest montage of jacking things up I've ever seen! Reminded me of the training montages in Rocky movies. 👍😁
Love the video!
awe man! brilliant thinking of underwater mudhole test! duely noted!!!
You really tested this jack to the limit! 👍
Now that was a killer review! Torture test extraordinaire lol. Damn, you really put it through some stuff. Good job Ben!
Best video on you tube !!!!🥇
Not into off roading, but your real world review got my subbed!
Best test. Its on sale for 271 today.
Love your assistant
You should look at installing a LPW diff cover on your 14-bolt. You can order them with supports for the carrier bearings and even trusses to brace the rear of the axle too under hard acceleration.
Best real world test I've seen.
Thanks!
I was looking at these too but I think I'd pay more get a regular 2 ton pittsburg on sale and do the 911 off road kit on it and save 35lbs and it will go up higher. You can also get different wheel sizes. No need for a 3 ton off road
I'd say a great jack for people with a dirt driveway or work area too.
Being my self a DIYer, I'd consider starting with some standard floor jack, and weld as an extension a bottle jack.
Cassie, where the hell are ya. Ya left us hanging...wiring in lockers, tire review and even trail testing, where ya at sister
3.2 seconds after this video: "Lightly used Badlands Off-Road jack for sale". I just picked one of these up today at HF for 319 clams. Haven't even taken it out ofr the box yet, but I can see that it's gonna be good! I'm surprised how light it is, co0mpared to past non off-road jacks I've had. For dudes like me who work exclusively on grass and gravel, this thing'll be a game-changer.
It worked great out at king of the hammers
@@JKGearandGadgets Assembled mine today. This thing is AWESOME!
I have one on order for my 3.5 ton Rivian R1T and used HF’s 10% off coupon. Cost me $297 with sales tax. R1T’s come with a wimpy OEM jack. I plan on keeping this stashed in the Gear Tunnel.
Just got mine today and initial thought is that it is a tank. Good review, I don't think seeing this ahead of time would have deterred me as I needed a second jack and this one seemed to be dual purpose. Heavy, yes but that strap was engineered well as you can pick it up with the handle and it is balanced.
its heavy but compared to the other 3 ton jacks at harbor freight its actually lighter than most all of them with the same weight capacity.
You compared the Badlands jack to a standard floor jack I'd like to see you try those same water test with that floor jack you were talking about
Well you all torture test this better than most 👍
I'm impressed, lol you beat the crap outta it
Just hit up Harbor Freight today. They are back-ordered until Jan 5, 2023, but you can order it with 20% off the $299.00 price until Jan. 4th.
Nice Off-Road Jack! I wonder if the next model will come with lockers.
I'm gonna have to invest in this
Could you use a hockey puck to replace the rubber pad?
Damn I need a Harbor freight sale I need this in my life asap
Concur with your assessment. No way I have room for that in my jeep. I use a 4 ton bottle jack with an axle adapter that I welded up and slip on. Sometimes I also bring my 5' hi lift. Haven't had anything those two can't handle.
They work grate in my gravel driveway and yard
thought about buying oneinstead of playing 2 x4 Jenga with my floor jack
Pretty funny you and Muddy Beard both did a review on the same jack on the same day. Lol
I just got one right now price was $299 with taxas pay $320.99 .
I have it in my 4runner I like it a lot It doesn't take up that much space I'll actually it every day because I travel far it's a bit heavy but you won't spend more gas for 70 pounds i recommend 100% u dont go wrong with this toy
Looks like you removed the bolder on the hairpin turn from the trail we cut a couple weeks ago. Hopefully it’s passable now.
Yep! That would have been way too sketchy to try that line with the boulder there. The trail is going to be insane
I actually think it might have lifted the JKU if it had a standard sway bar and not snd Antirock. But that still impressive it almost did it!
Oh yeah for sure! This jeep has a little too much travel
If you have to pre order don’t waste your time. I have been waiting since before Christmas and was informed that it will mostly likely be late march before I get it.
When are you going to do a video comparing the Bronco to the Wrangler, like you said you were going to do a few videos ago?
You need to fab up a new shoe/post that has more extension to it so the JKU can use it
Pro eagle vs the badlands?
Well you certainly tested it and it seemed to pass... :-) I was skeptical when I first saw the wheels but looks like they are tough enough... :-)
Sucks I just bought my 48” jack for my jeep, mounted on the hood, I guess I’m going to have to wait a while
Any update on final thoughts on apex badlands winch?
It’s been working with no issues! I’d still recommend it, only downside is it’s a very large and heavy winch
Oh yeah thats perfect for the G car
Id like one for the shop and maybe put it in the trailer but no room in a TJ for it.
I was waiting for you to install an engine on it. 😂
Better than the Daytona?
Hoping to pick this up for 250 next week
Hmmm. Maybe that’s the unit we’ll put on in the back of the Burb
Snorkel mod?
dude I thought you would tear that diff cover of for sure
I don't see anyone except a commercial tow vehicle lumping this around, there are too many alternatives out on the trail ie. winch, trail-jacks, tow line that would solve all the issues you put the jack through. I think the name is being over-thought. Regular floor jacks are designed for the majority of vehicles with standard road to frame dimensions. I think this jack is truly designed for the off-roader garage or business where you not only don't need a slim fit floor jack (piling unsafe wood blocks on), you actually need one with the build to work on lifted and larger tire off-road vehicles. It's basically a jeeper garage dream jack.
Exactly my thoughts. And in the end I tried bringing that up. It can work as an off-road jack, but it’s mainly best for a sweet garage jack for lifted vehicle owners lol
Or if you are a shade tree mechanic who does not have a hard surface to work on. @@JKGearandGadgets
Last time i loan you a jack !
Lol i swear i only used it a few times!
Considered buying one of these jacks seen a lot of videos on it and even you didn't take out that safety block that's going to bend that center bar does it not say this in the instructions to remove that block
What block are you talking about
@@JKGearandGadgets there's a shipping block between the frame and the yolk right behind that stainless steel bar everybody keeps bending that because they don't take out the shipping block
Yeah man no idea what you are talking about
Hey man is there any I can contact u about help with a 5.7 swap in as 12 jeep jk?
If you are on fb, join the jeep speed shop v8 swappers group lots of help there.
@@JKGearandGadgets thank u
You don't know JACK!!! Had to lol
Will we see hood mounts for these lol
I think these types off off-road jacks are better suited to use on off-road vehicles rather than use off-road.
About your "tests"....Did you fail to deflate the tires because you then couldn't get the jack under it?
No. I only had 4 hours to go drive to the off-road park, get all these shots, drive home, clean up, and pick up the kids. Didn’t have time to air down, as this wasn’t a wheeling trip.
The jack fits perfectly fine with rigs on 35s and less so I don’t see how in the world 40s aired down would matter.
Well to be truthful the rubber pad broke while it was jacked up while the jeep was driving with it jacked up under it
Dirt lifestyle just reviewed this like 3 weeks ago and compared it to a name brand jack.
Yeah the pro eagle. Not sure what you are getting at
@@JKGearandGadgets wasn't complaining. Was just a statement. It's nice to have a few comparisons to make an accurate choice on a product. Thanks for the videos grateful for the content. Be safe.
wish we had this in Australia. pro eagle 3t jack is $1300AUD. way too overpriced
You might have gotten the tire off the ground on the 4 door if the Jack was under the axle 🤔
Oh yeah for sure. Wanted to test lifting from the frame
@@JKGearandGadgets love your channel. If anyone is looking to lift the tires from a frame lift point. Sling the axle to the frame. I have a couple heavy duty cheap husky ratchet straps that work great for this. Also works great when a wheel is stuck deep. Sling the axle and no need to lift as high. Thank you again for always having great and relatable content.
70 pounds sounds light for a 3 ton jack. My steel one weighs 109 pounds.
Have you been losing weight?you look really good!
Is there anyone else who had questions about the wheels like me
HF went the wrong direction. A 70 lb jack is not an off road jack. A lighter, aluminum 1.5T jack with a skid instead of wheels is what they should produce and sell. An included mount would be nice as well.
I particularly disagree. My friends and I sometimes offroad our 3/4 ton and 1 ton diesel trucks. Gotta lift the front of those trucks just will not happen with only a 1.5 ton jack. Believe me I tried and I blew the seals out of mine lol. But I agree they could make a lighter duty one for the jeep crowd. Lighter duty with a taller lift. Trade off lift capacity for lift height
Soon me thinks they’ll have that
They have em
1.5T? Maybe for a Chevy tracker 😂
plastic wheels in a cold garage breaking ?
Breaking? Watch the 8 minutes off nonstop offroad testing. They hold up fine
This video is all jacked up…
I bought one because I work on my junk in my gravel driveway and the shop jacks are a pita and not the safest.
That'a a durable jack
You put that through a lot of abuse, well done. Well done harbor freight.
where does "S" come from that everyone keeps adding to the name. badland
Dude dirt every day just did this review 😂
Needs led
What are you talking about?
Walmart $14 2 ton bottle jack works just as good, I carry 2 in my JK Rubicon.
What is the max lifting height of the "just as good" Walmart jack? I doubt it is as stable. Now if it fits your needs, great. I carry a small trolley jack with wheels removed and plate tacked to bottom and a hi-lift farm jack as well, different tools for different situations.
What is the deal? all of a sudden every off road you tuber is reviewing this dumb jack! Thanks Ben for the real world test, think I'll pass too heavy too big!
A Hi-Lift jack is lighter and doesn't require the rolling footprint. Maybe not any safer though.
I thought it worked fine. But i wanted people to make their own decision after watching the various clips of it offroad
Seems like the days of Hi Lifts might be coming to an end. The days of Off Road Floor Jacks....has come.
Don’t forget about bottle jacks. Additionally, bottle jacks lift straight up here any floor jack lifts in an arch.
