Love how Amy is pretty critical of Graham’s weirdness and then she fucking starts stalking him.
"This was a weird dude... I mean, he was older, and still going to the university for fun after loosing his parents... So I started stalking him for months, I mean, like any would do. Graham was really weird, he was there, writing in notebooks!! I knew exactly each shirt he owned, what s weirdo he is"
Minus the end of the story and this one could've just as easily been narrated by Graham about the girl who got a concussion and then proceded to stalk him while very deliberately trying to hide the fact that they lived across the street from each other
she doesn’t seem critical to me.
She's such a weirdo. She's so suspicious or Graham and yet starts obsessing over him. I'm disgusted by her whole attitude towards him.

I love this so much actually, because it reveals how so many people engage in genuinely creepy and u healthy behaviors without even being aware of it. Like, even if they can recognize that someone else is doing the same thing, we’re just so easily able to overlook ourselves.

@@mimkyodar stranger deals with uncanny, almost-human, "familiar yet unfamiliar", and lonely specializes in loneliness, abandonment, and isolation. i don't think any of them can be applied to "feeling awkward because of being trapped in a social situation". the eye's aspect of "fear of being followed" would be closer to it, but mostly it's just. not a fear? it's discomfort bordering on anxiety, and we don't have a fear themed around being socially awkward, or any fear themed around having to socialize. same for teh fear of having misjudged your labels, or mispresented yourself, or ruining your relationships. maybe it would have emerged after The Extinction, who knows :D

Plot twist: The real monster of this story is the girl fucking stalking a poor shy dude. So the dude and his boyfriend started acting weird on purpose to freak out the damn stalker.
Sadly I don't think Graham would endure months of doing literally nothing as his free time, skipping non-pizza nutrients (same toppings also) all while not using curtains to grant respit from the ruse

I'm not sure what it means, but catching a glimpse of you talking about not!people and the like gave me more clues about the overall series than I want in god damn episode 3. I'd rather not know which episodes are monster-of-the week and which are Arc episodes

@@Fisinocean Most episodes are important in retrospect. What was at the time the most silly episode, the one with the spider, ended up being important later. Sometimes episodes that seem diesconected to the overall plot are actually establishing important things for later.

Let's face it, it how the NotThem be.
Jon remembered the table from this statement and its relationship to a replaced person. He just didn't understand the nature of the entities at that point and made an understandable error.
Part of me wants to blame the table for all of the creepy shenanigans, but I'm not convinced. Regardless, Graham and Not!Graham pose quite an unsettling story.
My mind keeps trying to ty all the archives together so in my mind this table is the same coffin as the "do not open" xD

I really do believe that the keep watching comment is for her to keeep watching the real Graham, is for her to either save him by saying something, or to be a sort of witness to everything, to be a prove of his existance, for someone to remember him as him, not as the way the creature shows himself. Its kimda sad
I was honeslty thinking the same thing, it seems as though the whole time Graham was paranoid, he was scared of the other person who took over his life, and wanted someone to watch in order to protect him somehow.
I thought so too. And him forcing himself to eat his notebooks to seem weird enough, so that the person is sure to keep watching, suddenly sounds a lot scarier.
Jon has similar behavior as the series progresses. It's a mark of the Beholding. The paranoia and an obsession with documentation.
Amy, the statement giver, is also showing signs of being marked by the Eye. For there to be a Watcher, there must be someone or something to watch. Subject and Object.
Few things really get me scared, but just imaging that unfamiliar person looking back and smiling through the window really got me, yikes
Three episodes in, and I’m hooked. This guy’s voice is ridiculously calming. Between this and Nightvale, I definitely have a podcast “type” lol.

the most unlikely thing of this whole story is the person with a concussion watching tv the day of the concussion. cuz its almost impossible to watch electronics or most sensory things with a concussion. other than that really good.
Oh yeah, that sparked a memory. The worst concussion I ever had I fell down the stairs and hit my head on the tile floor. My family tried to watch something with me to calm me down, but my vision had become extremely blurry, to a point where I couldn't really see at all.

Okay, I have only just found out about this series tonight, and I have some thoughts. I have seen none of what’s to come but this is my thinking:
I think this is connected to the anglerfish somehow. In episode 1, it mentions the swaying figure and the possibility that a hand is at least part of its real body. In this one, we have a swaying long hand. Not a lot to go off of, but I think these are creatures of the same species or the same creature altogether. They also both have to do with fake identity, the anglerfish making a fake body and this creature assuming someone else’s identity. No clue what the truth is, but this must be part of it!
THATS WHAT I SAID and I thought of that immediately when he said anything about the arm
I'm still convinced that the hands in both episodes are a similar species or as far fetched as it may be, perhaps a hybrid of some sort.

this is by far the scariest episode as of yet. I close my eyes I see him standing there at his window, staring at me with his blank expression and cold calculating eyes piercing right into me. Those eyes scream you're next and I will get you.
So... He was making her watch him? Through some kind of supernatural biz?
Or there's something with her as well, compelling her to observe
Maybe it was the table that hypnotised her, or he was saying that to himself
God relistening to these once you're caught up makes you notice so many things that felt like one-off details! This is the first appearance of the Not!Them! Amazing! Such early foreshadowing!
ooh boy this one got me. the description of this monster, spindly enough to be mistaken for pipe, shifting like a magic eye picture instead of moving is so vivid to me. i can't really think of what the connection would be between the notebooks, the table, and the creature would actually be? but whatever changeling type creature got graham, it seemed like it knew that amy had witnessed it, and was almost gleefully sinister in letting her know that. very creepy that there only appear to be a few old photos left showing the real graham.
imagine: the creature climbs in the window, the lights go out, and then the amogus drip song starts blaring from the apartment

Ok this ep was a bit confusing in my opinion, because there's a lot of lore going on and there's two sides i really need to know.

But seriously, poor Graham. Imagine just chilling and trying to enjoy your day, but you cant because there's not one, but two stalkers stalking you. One your neighbor/classmate and two, a monster.

My guess is he was connected to The Web and it was somehow part of their plan.
I've assumed Graham was marked by the Eye due to the paranoia, notebooks, and "keep watching."
Graham is canonically supposed to be Oliver Blake's ex-boyfriend. It would seem one or both of them had an encounter at some point that marked them as Oliver became an avatar, and Graham was killed.
I just don't understand how the table got from Abalard Decker's possession to a where Graham found it.

I only know about the magnus archives through tumblr, and I figured I would give in and start listening to them. The first two episodes, while creepy, game me a sense of calm while listening that almost put me to sleep.
hearing about the limbs climbing in through the windows was creepy, but not as creepy as what could've been in the coffin
then I realized that this graham was wrong, that he was a not!Graham.
I can honestly say I've never broken out in a cold sweat before in my life until now. the realization of what had happened is still making me shiver

This genuinely scared me so much that I could not fall asleep. It was horrible but also pretty cool

Hayley Larson it doesn’t have anything to do with the story, really. A skinwalker is a Navajo term for a witch that can shapeshift into animals. The term just kinda got adopted into modern horror as “scary thing that steals skin” or something along those lines lmao

Okaaaay that was next level creepy. When the notebooks content was presented i got really creep out my thinking is that whatever the holy fuck was that thing it hunted Graham to take his place and poor Graham was under somehow aware of it and was kept an eye for it until that fateful night he failed witch resulted in things stealing it identity and memories. Also it seem aware that Amy was watching Graham throughout and that she send police... Overall slow burnish but shit got real at the ending part

So on a rewatch of this series I've come to appreciate the INSANE foreshadowing going on, and I may have put something together here: In a later episode we learn that the "Not Them" was trapped by the Web, and it's obvious that the narrator here is at least partially influenced by the Eye. So what if the Web KNEW Magnus was gonna try ending the world, and had this lady's neighbor replaced so she'd report it to the Magnus Institute, thereby tempting them to find and store the table. WHY? because the Web WANTED Jon dead because it also also knew Jon was the lynch-pin in Magnus' plan. And HOLY SHIT the recording and storing of Jon's voice for the ep 199 plan was PLAN B. They were SO FAR AHEAD, that the ENTIRE series is just the web preparing it's backup plan incase Anabelle, or the Not Them fails to kill Jon. Hell, let's go even further, maybe it tried killing him ITSELF when he was a kid? There's no telling how far it can see into the future, but holy shit is this amazing writing

Ok so while listening to this as she’s describing the thing I just thought ha ha that’s not a pipe and that made me think of ceci n’est pas une pipe, and I’d heard of the painting and thought to look it up and the treachery of images and man it really seems to fit the whole concept of I don’t know you and while the pipe part isn’t even the main focus how interesting is that? I wonder if that wording was out there on purpose or just a glorious coincidence but I love it and I’d recommend looking into ceci n’est pas une pipe for more weird shit
