    Add me to the list of people that really, really needed this video! A friend used my Echo trimmer and when he returned it, it wouldn't feed. Apparently he took the head apart, and put the spool in upside down. I've had trouble ever since. Well, thanks to your video, my Echo trimmer is working perfectly once again. Thanks!!

    • @62shalaka
      @62shalaka Před 2 měsíci

      @@ericvincelette-xk1yo It should pull straight out. Could the trimmer line be holding it down? Pull the string out of their feed holes and remove the string completely, then try again. Some of these heads build up a lot of heat and will melt the parts together, so watch for that.

    The original head became worn after a few years, so bought a new Echo head that wouldn’t feed line. I was almost ready to buy another head until I discovered your video. After taking the head apart, I discovered the spool was originally installed upside down. Thank you for your video.

    Brilliant- I changed the head on my Echo SRM225- could not figure this one out! I too had the head reversed! Spitting out string, then string retracting and making me crazy! Spent more time doing it wrong than weed whacking. Did not see this in all the ECHO vids.

    I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use czcams.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

    Hey this is a terrific piece of advice! You saved me a LOT of frustration I was having with my Echo SRM-230, which was not spitting out line. Following your instructions it now takes just a light bump on the ground to get the line to feed! --I put bright stickers on the outside of the line spool holder to tell which side is OUT and which side is IN so if I have to take it apart in the evening sometime (say it got wound up in wire or nylon string for example), I can put the device back together properly in the semi-dark twilight so it operates correctly! Thanks to you, Mr. Seahorse!

    This video was a great help. Actually saying that placing the insert a certain way fits perfectly is kinda misleading because it fits perfectly either way. My STIHL turns the same direction as yours( didn’t know that until watching your video and scrubbing my guard to see arrow). Looking down from operator position it turns counterclockwise. That’s why placing the insert with the L (counterclockwise) is inserted looking down towards ground. Thanks for opening my eyes

  • @kcaegis45
    @kcaegis45 Před rokem

    Yes, I called Echo and asked them which way the bobbin should be installed for my PAS 230 and she said the letter "L" should be on top facing you when you put in the bobbin.

    • @kcaegis45
      @kcaegis45 Před rokem

      PS. It all depends on the rotation of your weed eater. If the head rotates/spins counter clockwise when you look at weed eater with the guard on top then the bobbin/spool should read with the "L" on top when you put it into the head. If it rotates/spins clockwise then the bobbin/spool should read "R" on top when you put it into the head. ECHO SRM and PAS weed eaters' spin counter clockwise as most straight shaft do. And most curve shaft spin clock wise. Just remember if you have to turn counter clockwise to tighten the speed feeder to your weed eater then the "L" should face on top and if you have to turn clockwise to tighten then the "R" should face on top .

    Glad I found this. Just started using a nice Echo I bought at a yard sale. Was having trouble with the line.
    I took the head apart and installed new line and think I put that part back on backwards.
    Gonna check it again tomorrow to see if that spring is in it.
    The first problem I had was the line not advancing when I bumped the head against the ground.
    That is the reason I reversed that one piece.
    You do bump these to get the line to advance, right?

      bump it once and the line will come out as the motor turns

      @@SeahorseWorkshop That is the way everyone I have ever had worked.
      There was no spring in this brand new one. I took a spring from another, one of many I have, and put it in it. Not sure what kind it was but it works very good.

      @@rickeykeeton4770 Nice. Glad to know. My echo is now in my 2nd year and running great. Make sure you clean and oil the spring and the inside at the end of the season.
