  • Do you want to visit the incredible region of Apulia or how the Italian’s pronounce it ‘Puglia’? Then this video is perfect for you!
I have spent two weeks in Puglia and learned a lot about this region. In this video Part one, I will tell you more about the southernmost cities of Puglia, namely Otranto, Gallipoli and Lecce. In addition to these beautiful cities, I will also show you the most beautiful beaches of this region that you must see!
The main reason why I have stayed in Otranto and why I would recommend staying here or in Gallipoli is because the location is just perfect if you want to explore the southern part of Puglia and because these city's are located right at the beach!
Both city's are very different, for me Otranto is very charming. The city is surrounded by a beautiful fortress which you can visit, there are many great local restaurants and bars en the beach is right around the corner. Another nearby beach is Alimini beach. We took a shuttle bus from our hotel in Otranto, the CDS Basiliani hotel.
As for Gallipoli the beach is little more to the south from the city centre. Lido San Giovanni is the nearest beach to the centre of Gallipoli and is also a Hotel. So if you spent your time here during the summer months and you want to be near to the beach and also to the city centre, then this 3 star rated hotel would probably your place to be.
We stayed in Puglia from mid to late July, it was certainly the hottest period to be here, as is August, so most of the trips we did, took place at the end of the day. My favorite trip was to the city of Lecce. Parking in Lecce is relatively easy, a perfect parking garage is Parkejoo - Lecce. A modern and large parking garage located on the north side of the city 🚙.
If you don't have access to a car but you want to visit Lecce by train or bus, visit the website of rome2rio.com for the current times and prices 🚂.
In Lecce there are a couple of monuments and churches which you can visit by purchasing a ticket from the ticket office of the LeccEcclesiae company or visit the website of www.chieselecce.it/en/info. The price of the ticket is 11 euro's. If you also want to visit the bell tower in addition to these sights that the price for the ticket is 21 euro's 🎟️.

Yes, this place is called Torre San’t Andrea. At the end of the video I also show a part of this beautiful place, but during the day. Thank you for the compliment.

Where is the nearest airport if I need to go here?

Hello, thank you for your question. It really depends from where you are flying? The main airport of Puglia is Bari airport and there is also the airport of Brindisi.
