    Great review dude. I have got a m-team version and I can honestly say it’s the best bike I have ridden. I have been doing demo days here in England and tried all the current competitors but this was the best. It’s got everything.

    Hi
    Great reviews love the channel. I’m in the enviable position of buying a new bike and I’m considering the ripmo or the rallon. I just can’t demo a ripmo out here where I am in the uk so wondered which bike you would go for as an allrounder.
    Thanks

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 5 lety

      Honestly I would go with the Rallon. The Ripmo is a great bike and many people love it. It never really was a bike that excited me to ride whereas the Rallon definitely did.

    Hey mate, your reviews are thorough and informative, thanks! I am looking at long travel 29ers. How do you think this compares to the Rocky Mountain Instinct BC Edition? Build kits aside, just wondering how you think they comparatively climb, descend and fun factor. I have watched both reviews, but wondering if you have any thoughts head to head. Thanks again!

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 4 lety

      Hmmm that’s an interesting comparison. I would probably say the Rallon is a more ‘boutique’ bike and the quality of the frame vs the RM is clear. Climbing wise both are pretty even and ride general trail excellent. The RM might take the descent test but the Rallon is no slouch. The RM also has the Ride 9 which might matter to you and can be used to really dial in the feel of the bike vs a two position flip chip.

    Thanks for talking about the Orbea brand..Yes not that well know in North America but they are now represented at many bike festivals here in the usa. I do own an xc Orbea and have been more than happy with the build and performance. I have test ridden the Rallon . It is an exceptional bike that does inspire confidence and will allow you to ride above your normal ability. The only reason I didn't purchase one was the price tag exceeded my budget by a fair amount. That being said if you can afford it you get what you pay for. Fyi their road bikes are also of fine quality....so demo Rallon if you have the opportunity....not a paid spokesman!

    I just got my Rallon M10 with the upgraded shock and fork, and simply love it! I think your review is spot on., with one exception.
    Not sure where you are located, but the M10 is not $9,300 US. The model you tested with the components fitted is only $5,400 (US dollars). I guess if that's an adjusted figure for non-US dollars, the other bikes shown by comparison are also adjusted.

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 5 lety

      Yes this is based on Canadian dollars. We get totally screwed!

    • @JimF-777
      @JimF-777 Před 5 lety

      @@IslandBikeLife That sucks. For those not there, most of the bike prices you compared it to, are much closer to the Rallon in price, and depending on component preference, have lower quality parts. For all the shopping around I did, I found the Rallon much less expensive than other brands offering the same parts, and I got a custom painted bike. JMHO, not necessarily going to work out that way with everyone.
      Great channel, thanks.

      @@IslandBikeLife I ordered my bike on Feb 14th and they shipped it out on March 28th. This was ahead of schedule as when I spoke with customer service prior to ordering, they said the remaining 5 frames they had left (of that production batch) were estimated to ship April 1st if ordered with stock colors. MyO orders would "take a little longer".

      Here in Germany,it`s not a problem to find complete bike ( Rallon M10 ) for less than 5.500 canadian dollars.
      What you guys pay for it over there is quite insane!

    I'm really curious about this brand/bike. How would you say it compares to an Ibis Ripley? For the past 4 years I been riding a First gen Ripley and am really happy with it. Although, I'm starting to consider a new bike. I really like the short-mid travel trail bikes that can climb well and are very nimble and responsive.
    Also, maybe you can suggest a few other brands/bikes I should look into?
    Thanks

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 5 lety

      This bike would not be comparable to the Ripley. You would be looking at the Orbea Occam or similar bike. Yeti SB100, or Santa Cruz Tallboy for example would be also similar in purpose.

      Norbert Demanuele check ChainReactionCycles. Good bargains .Orbea are good bikes. I ride a 2014 carbon Alma, LOVE IT! They are getting bigger as a brand and you know what that means. $$$$ if you got it go for it. I long for this bike but due to the expense I’m going with a Vitus Escarpe. This Rallon is tits tho. It will be mine one day. Canyon bikes are also very 👌🏽Nukeproof 👌🏽Kona is making a comeback. This is the best time to be into MTB. There are so many options and price points, it’s a good time for the sport.

    Great review.. Recently I bought an Orbea Rallon 27.5 aluminum alloy frame here in my country Philippines. It has a rear shock which sits vertical in the center of the frame. Front shocks are fox 32. 2 and 1 x 9 speed. What can you say of this bike revgarding weight & performance? Thanks man.. Ride safe.

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 3 lety

      I really like the ride on the Rallon for sure. I am sure that bike will be on the heavy side and I am surprised it has as Fox 32. I would probably go to at least a 36 for such an aggressive bike. The drivetrain is also interesting given the low cost and high quality 12 speed options on the market. I think you could make a few little changes and really improve the bike feel.

    Nice review! To you, and others here: How does this do over sections with lots of roots/rocks? up, or straight forward? Read and seen lots about the downhill and flowy style trail, but less about single track, many bumps kinda trail :D

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 4 lety +1

      I found the suspension very responsive overall. It handled chunky sections no problem and didn’t feel like it was getting bogged down or held up in rocks or bigger/chunkier trail sections.

    • @SoppenSin
      @SoppenSin Před 4 lety

      @@IslandBikeLife Great. Ok, last question then :P over smaller stuff, again like roots or smaller rocks, over longer periods? Do you think you'd feel bounced around or is the bike capable to deal with it? Around here we've got a lot of trails with a good amount of roots, usually not too chunky, but enough to test the suspension ;)

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah but that really has more to do with the setup of the suspension components. The platform from Orbea is great but if your shock and fork are not setup properly it’s gonna feel like shit regardless of the bike.

    Enjoyed the review. Nice job. I’ve been wanting a Rallon for awhile now but after the sb150 came out I’m torn. I’m just now in the market and it’s decision time. I noticed your comment about the Rallon being the only bike that might replace your sb150. After knowing what you know now what bike would you choose if you had neither and why? I live in Texas so we have lots of typical trail riding but I want a bike that I can also grow into that is capable of brawling and would fare well at bike parks and such. Thoughts?

    • @IslandBikeLife
      @IslandBikeLife  Před 5 lety

      If I was starting over I would probably go with Rallon if my purpose was a marginally more enjoyable trail riding experience. The SB150 is a better descending bike in my opinion but it isn’t really meant for long days in the saddle doing light trail riding. The Rallon would be better there. However, if you are not concerned with that and want the best downhill experience then go to the SB150. For me, I have some bigger Enduro race plans the next year or so and went with the SB150 and hav no regrets, but I won’t keep it beyond that as it is overkill for most of what I Ride.
