Javelin is not my cup of tea, but the white frame, the enhanced rear wing and white lettering on the tires made it that much nicer. The driver is the icing on the cherry on top.
Thanks! I do like the original orange roll cage, when I was a kid, but now I'm not as much a fan of it and so I switched it to white. Thanks for watching.
Hi Brian Martin! That's wonderful! Back in the day I would just daydream and see it on the top shelf at a local hobby shop. Must've been a top kit back then.
I had a Javelin when I was a kid back in the 80s, just this year I got and built the Turbo Optima re-release and promptly put a traditional orange Javelin body on it. Looks pretty nice with all the gold colored aluminum and Kyosho gold shocks. Really like the look of your spoiler!
@@MechanicAfterHours I am so close to buying one but I can't find any place that has the white bodykit in stock, even Kyosho themselves are out of stock. I could paint it but I doubt that will look nice for long...
I think the white one is quite rare now. I bought it over a year ago when the parts were available, and I remember back then it was even limited in stock. Maybe you could buy a spare roll cage and just spray paint it white (that way you still have the original?). And you can re-paint extra one when it gets beat up
@@MechanicAfterHours So I did buy the buggy last night, I'm gonna try dying the cage red. Should work since it's already orange. And I will keep hunting for the white cage.
Hi Chris. Thank you for watching! I don't know I think it will be too much or too time consuming to be one ;). But thank you for the thought and compliment. Take care.
I love gold when done properly and not over the top. One day I'll probably do something with gold. But yes, on your other comment, I wanted red for the white/black theme-and just hints of gold to match the motor.
almost forgot how good looking my javelin (in general) was. i really raced the hack out of mine back then. the one thing i remember that wasn t so nice is to get all the dirt out of all those nooks and crannies;)))

I keep coming back to look at your builds buddy, you have great attention to detail and an eye for the styling and photos. Looking forward to what else you’ve got coming out. Would like to see what you do with an optima mid 😜
Another beautiful job. Wish I had your methodical approach and a bit of your talent. I do t have a Kyosho yet but I’d like one next year maybe. I was planning on the Javelin but now I’m torn because i’d quite like a 2wd car to play with and the Ultima would be a great option. I think the build would be more fun of the Javelin/Optima though
Thanks, Bob! I think you won’t go wrong with the Ultima. That’s a great one too-and the history. The tub frame on the Ultima is quite unique and I’m sure it performs very well even for a classic.
Heavily underrated channel , yt algorithm messing this channels outreach, I truly hope you get more traffic, I'm also a fellow builder of Rc Airplane models, I know how hard it is to gain subs.
This isn't just good, it's exquisite. Please can you supply a list of hop-up options / extras fitted? All the other Javelin builds look boring by comparison. Awesome job.
Thanks! And thank of you for watching. Let me try and list what I can recall: - Kyosho White roll cage - Kyosho black 43mm wheels - Kyosho High Torque motor (gold) - Kyosho Turbo Optima gold underbody - Kyosho HD Slipper Pad - Kyosho aluminum servo mount - Kyosho aluminum servo saver - Kyosho hard front support - Tamiya helmet/head driver - Tamiya Avante driver body/cockpit - Pargu Wing - Red aluminum wheel nuts - Some custom PVC on the lower chassis - Added other decals not part of the kit - Painted tire letters - I also shortened/rewired the ESC wires and the motor is hooked up via spade terminals so it's tidy and all black - Electronics listed in the description
This looks fantastic. When they are not on backorder I am picking one up. I wanted one so bad as a kid but had to settle for a Kyosho Icarus as my first RC car.
Thanks! And thanks for watching. Definitely try to get one when you can. One my favorites and the build experience was a fun one. Probably try to get some of the upgrades if you have a budget since it’s not as easy to get them like before. I remember the Icarus! It has a roll cage body too and a 550 motor If I recall.
The Icarus did. The front suspension was just taught plastic arms. No shocks. It served me very well until it was upgraded with a Tamiya Boomerang. I did get my hands on the Kyosho Ultima re-release. It is still in the box until I pick up the electrics I need for it. Way excited to get going on that one.
I think if you can get one you should before they run out. It definitely can be run and I usually run my builds but the weather just hasn't been good lately.
Hi Erik and thanks! The battery is held in place by straps with velcro. You don't see it in the video because I'm not running the car. Probably the one thing I find inconvenient.
That’s it ! Best looking thing ever. I am getting one and in white!! I saw one in sea foam green, do I spray them in white or they sell white cages? Please advice as I am new to this RC craze. 👍
Thanks, Jerry! The roll cages are aftermarket from Kyosho. The original is orange and then there are 5 from Kyosho you buy separately (red, neon yellow, black, sea foam green, and white). Some parts here I replaced so the original kit will look a bit different. Good luck!
Thanks, Simon Thelwell! And thank you for watching. The white panel is a thin pvc sheet. I got it from the local hardware and they come in different thickness
Hi Brian, thanks for watching. The body is actually white and probably looks grey due to the lighting. Body is from Kyosho (OTB247W), the underbody protector is from a Turbo Optima Gold and the wing is from Pargu (South Korea).
Thank you and thanks for watching! I'm not sure yet if I'll be building a vintage/re-release of the Ultima 2WD (there is an actual Optima 2WD but that is rare and I won't be able to acquire one). However, for 2WD buggies I have a few cars already lined up: Tamiya Super Astute, RC10 Gold Pan, and a special Kyosho Ultima 2WD RB5 (WC SP2).
Mine wants to tip over in turns, on tires that would slide around the asphalt easily with my other cars, even the optima mid, love that one. Want the new one as well. Have you lowered your car, looks kinda like it. I would rather scrape the chassis than tip over in turns..................
Yes, car is lowered since I run on flat surfaces. Thicker shock oil can help keep the car grounded on asphalt, lowered and playing with toe out and camber. As for the underside, luckily I haven’t scratched it yet
Thanks for watching, Sham Neo. I believe a 2S can fit, if you look at the Kyosho Japan website (you maybe need to run google translate on it if you can't read Japanese) it will mention the batteries that can work with the kit. rc.kyosho.com/ja/30618.html#catalog-product-technical
