these are manga i've had for a little while now but wanted to talk about them. which speaking of, i'm still going to do a January reading log probably as my next video haha. it's so late and basically up against a February reading log oops. but i've been reading a lot which is a stress reliever these days.

Villains are destined to die is like the best villainess, Isekai, otome game manhwa you can start off with (in my opinion). It's my absolute favorite and have already collected the first 2 volumes (third coming soon). Hope you enjoy the series as much as I do.
Ok this is super reassuring! 😅 I’ve tried another villainess/isekai/otome manga and i didn’t enjoy it that much after just the first vol. but I’ve heard positive things from several people about VADTD so I’m def looking forward to it! The art is gorgeous too so 😍😍

I'm honestly so excited when I can buy a bunch of manga at once and have my own little happy moment that'll turn to stress as I'll have to redo my shelf. Right now I can only get up to 4 volumes at all time so I haven't experienced the glee of a box full of manga
I get excited even when just 1 package comes in and it’s a single manga vol 😊 but I totally know what you mean with having to redo the shelves every time something new arrives 🫠😭
The best experience for reading BSD spin offs would be if you read them atleast after the vol 10 of the main manga series. But I would highly recommend atleast watching the anime as Dazai's Dark Era part of the story is not covered in the main manga series and is essential to know before reading Beast.
Also I hope we get "See you in my 19th life" as an english release soon. I just read it recently & absolutely loved it.
you're my go-to when it comes to trying to understand BSD and the order 💯🤭 but ahh ok i'm a couple vols away then for the manga before starting spin offs. i actually don't have Beast (yet) but def good to know!
and yes i would love it if Hye Lee's series get licensed for a print in English! i actually like A Good Day to Be a Dog a bit more but both are very good 🥰

The Apothecary Diaries was such a delightful surprise. It was a total cover buy, I saw volume 2 and immediately had to buy it and the first volume just for the art. I love the story and characters in general, but the biggest surprise was that at its heart it’s a sympathetic story about sex work. None of the women are shamed or used as a joke, instead their daily lives and the difficulties they face are explored. The story is so respectful and I love it so much!
yesss! i'm so glad you're enjoying it and you totally highlighted a great aspect of the series! it's shown as something that's an aspect of the story and adds to the plot/characters but doesn't shame them like you said. Maomao just kinda wants to get away from that life but recognizes that it's there. she's such a great female lead 😊

shadows house is amazing! the foreshadowing the story does leading up to one of the 100 chapters is amazing! my mind was blown. the anime was pretty good too though season 1 did change some things around and added anime exclusive stuff. just ignore the last 2/3 episodes of season 1 and you'll be good
i've heard great things about Shadow House and feel like i would really enjoy it since i've been loving some supernatural series lately. but thanks for the heads up! 🥰 i think i'll watch the anime after i read it since that's how i tend to enjoy both versions of a series 👀

ah yah Tokyo Aliens is a pretty full package. pretty characters, stunning art, aliens that don't really look like typical aliens bc they're in a humanoid form (for now at least) 😆 the story is pretty interesting too!
i will most likely be allocating that space to Noragami tbh 😏 and yes, a moment of silence for our empty wallets and that they may be filled for the next batch of orders 🙏

as for the acrylic plate holders (i believe you were the one to message me on IG?), they always came with the acrylics that i've bought so i never had to buy separate stands/feet for them 🥲
@cadence_la i feel like our thought process when reading manga is pretty similar even if we don't necessarily read the same things haha. im a huge fan of wayama yama, nagabe, takamatsu misaki, and moyori mori's works !! all of these mangakas have such a strong sensibility in their art style, characters, and storytelling. really love how they can create such expansive worlds no matter slice of life or high fantasy -- all while being wrapped up in a single volume (which feels better on my wallet LOL)
of your collection, im currently rereading kieta hatsukoi in anticipation for the final volume and it's such a silly goofy time that makes my heart so happy ;;;;;; even better that the illustrator is the same mangaka as ore monogatari, which is one of my favorite shoujos. the live action tv adaptation is super fun, would recommend hehe
and yeah that was me on ig ! actually had a smaller easel from daiso that works just fine, so now my acrylic plate fits perfectly on my shelf. thanks for being the catalyst to purchasing this piece, it really is a new way to display art from a series that i love so dearly ;w;
@@emayelngl, i haven't heard of any of those mangakas except for Takamatsu Misaki and had to look the rest of em up! 👀 but sounds like they're all efficient with their storytelling to successfully deliver great one-shots!

@@cadence_la the spiral into bl is a long one AHAHA and many of the mangakas i listed are more recent, so i hope you can keep finding more stories u love in this genre slowly n slowly ! your love for given reminds me when i first discovered kizu natsuki during her doujinshi days -- i recommend checking out her haikyuu djs, she was a big iwaoi and matsuhana fan :o)
i feel that you'd really enjoy the kr manhwa wolf in the house by park jiyeon. her command of storytelling is so masterful with the plot's shifting tones, and her art style (and spicy scenes lol) is so expressive and delivers every single time ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
also apologies for any semblance of spoilers in my hikaru comment -- i thought this tagline that was circulating on tumblr made the story sound so interesting esp bc i've also yet to read it ;;; hoping that you can still enjoy it at your own pace !

That's crazy, I mean last year I already collected so many, like for example in both 2020 and 2021 I only got 4 each , I don't really remember when I really started collecting but it's fun reading all these different stories ✨

@@cadence_la My fav pick up from last year was probably toilet bound hanako-kun and a Beauty/Belle and the Beast story (sorry don't know the Englisch title). I don't really look at stuff that is realeasing soon except for mangas that I own (which I buy randomly/just get what looks interesting at my local book shop or any book shop). I am though really excited for the next volumes of Sasaki and Miyano, My Love Mix-Up, Someday I'll fall asleep (idk If it's called that in English too) and for In the name of the mermaid princess.

aww i'm glad i can provide some relaxing content for you 🥰 i order my English manga nowadays through Barnes & Noble and maybe sometimes from Kinokuniya. but for Japanese manga, i read them using the Google Translate app. the translations can be a bit clunky and sometimes i don't really understand what's being said bc the translations aren't the greatest, but for the most part, i get the gist of what's happening 😅 is there a series you're interested in that doesn't have an English print/official translation yet?
@@cadence_la AHH I'm from the UK and we don't have a Barnes and Noble :(, there are places over here we can order from I am slowly finding out ! There's so many series I'd like translated ! I'm mostly into Yuri manga and manhua to be honest, which can be (compared to other genres like Yaoi can be few and far between. Interesting that you read them by translating them online, I'd never considered that... I usually just rely on fan translations I find online where I cannot buy the official versions through an app or something!
@@MP24685 ohhh hm in terms of UK bookstores, i've heard of places like Forbidden Planet and Blackwell's :) at least those are the ones i've heard some friends talk about that are from the UK. ah ok so GL series! the only girl's love manga i've read is Run Away With Me, Girl, which i actually really loved. it was a very emotional journey and i loved how it ended. only 3 vols! i'm sure you've already read it since you're mostly into yuri 🥰 and hm in terms of manhua, yah the only one i have is a BL haha

my tall bookshelves are from ikea (they're the Hemnes shelves) and the shorter one i got from Target (the 48" Carson bookcase) 😊
Hey you said you won't pick up physical copies but will read digital... where can we read digital ones in the US ? My trip to Tokyo I wish I would've just paid for another baggage because it would've been well worth it .
majority of the time i will pick up physical manga 😊 for digital, there's bookwalker, azuki, the shonen jump app, and kodansha is working on releasing their own digital manga reading platform. but hmm i don't know too much about any other digital manga service providers 😅
ohh i totally know what you mean with needing a full empty luggage when travelling to Japan 🥲 i could have brought more stuff to bring home but i didn't have enough space (or hands haha) when i had visited a few years ago 😭

@@cadence_la yeah it doesn’t seem like a good idea to me but someone in promotions thought why leave sweat and include both😆 I wish they include that special soap instead. the doujinshi is by the author herself I think, its about child making😶 fits right in between their wedding and their pregnancy journey. Spicier than usual albeit censored🥴

ohh there's so many places to watch anime nowadays, which is a blessing and a curse lol. there's a variety of subscription services like Crunchyroll and HiDive. And other streaming platforms that have anime now too like Netflix and Disney+. hope that helps!
