The Ghost of the Himalayas has earned it's reputation time and time again. No other big cat can compare to the Snow Leopard's ability to hide in plain sight. Then, add to this the extreme nature of the Himalayan mountains and the distances you are often looking from! This is no easy challenge.
Yet as you can hear, every guest testified to the fact that this experience was a challenge like no other. It truly pushed them to their limits. In the end, it was a life-changing one as good as other expedition or safari any of them had ever undertaken. There's an underlying magic to the Himalayas that simply can't be ignored and won't be forgotten.
This tour of ours starts with 2 days in the City of Leh. This allows you to get used to higher altitudes and also give you an opportunity to further explore the city and it's highlights, in particular all of the monasteries.
On day 3 we head deeper into the mountains where you'll find our basecamp - the Lungmar.
Accommodation is extremely important on this expedition. I've personally visited the Himalayas before and stayed in a classic homestay. It was, for lack of a better word, underwhelming. No showers for 8 days, no heating in the rooms, power cuts on a daily basis, and average food at best. I wanted to do things right on this tour and wanted my guests to have the experience to remember - both in the field and also at camp.
What we've found at The Lungmar Snow Leopard Camp was just that and more. As you can see in the video, we enjoyed a magnificent time and were extremely well taken care of beginning to end.
