  • What's going on with Spain's Pedri? He only had 17 touches in their last warmup game before the EUROs and he only had 25 touches against Croatia? He usually has a LOT more! In this video, I break down and explain Pedri's new role for Spain.

These past couple of games with Barca and these recent ones with Spain, Pedri has been getting into the box way more and has been getting a good amount of shots towards goal. If he can bang them into the back of the net then he would definitely be up their with Bellingham, Wirtz and Musiala. Imo he has better football IQ than all 3 and is better on the ball. He just needs more confidence when it comes to scoring.

Yeah f he adds the goals consistently he would definitely be up there with them in that position. He's already one of the best in the deeper position and adding this new role makes him even better.

Funny enough his problem is not confidence in scoring
It has always shown he’s very lethal when he attempts to
But his lack of scoring comes from his versatility, he just wouldn’t cos he’s too adventurous and too good at everything else a proper midfielder does than scoring

Thanks! Whenever I watch these types of videos, they usually are really complicated and technical so that’s why I want to keep them simple whenever I make them. They should be easy to understand, not confusing for the viewers! Glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback!

Pedri already played this role in the 22/23 season at Barcelona

In his new role, he is getting more productive by producing more G/A's. But based on his style of play, i still think, him playing as deep lying playmaker is the best version of himself. As he is press resistant with good ball carrying ability and vision.

That's true! It's impressive that he has been able to show that he can play another role recently. Gives his teams more options.

Because of how much possession Spain usually have and how high up they usually play there isn’t a huge amount of distance for them to carry but Ruiz has been doing well with it and other outlets such as Nico Williams and Yamal relieve that pressure in certain situations. I think it’s all been working pretty well so far anyway.
