What I hate the most about all this is that today we are being fed the lie of being independent when all these colonizers still enforce their policies on our countries. The sanctions are one way of keeping us in line evertime we try to be truly independent.

Well done. People should know the history that how the European powers brutally conquered and divided Africa in late 19th century. In 1913, they basically completed the colonization of Africa. Then in 1914, the World War I began. God started punishing those European powers with two world wars. After WWII, the colonization of Africa and Asia began to end.

    - The Berlin conference formalized the Scramble for Africa, a period where European powers explored, divided, and conquered Africa in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
    - The conference lasted from November 15th, 1884 to February 26th, 1885 and involved 13 European nations and the United States.
    - By the end of the conference, the powers had decided how to divide the unclaimed African territory, producing established boundaries between colonies.
    - The 1885 general act declared the neutrality of the Congo River Basin, forbade the slave trade, and rejected Portugal's claims to the Congo River estuary.
    - Prior to the Scramble, Europe mainly claimed coastal colonies along the Mediterranean and African deep south.
    - Africa was largely ignored until King Leopold's II of Belgium funded an expedition to explore the Congo in 1876, leading to the founding of the Congo Free State.
    - Various European powers raced to claim more land, eliminating local rulers who could disrupt European agendas.
    - The Berlin conference legitimized the concept of Africa being a mere playground for outside forces, with little consideration for the welfare of native people.
The Berlin Conference of 1884-85 formalized the Scramble for Africa, a period during which several European powers explored, divided and conquered the continent of Africa. The conference was a series of negotiations between 13 European nations and the United States, in which they decided how they would pursue the division of unclaimed African territory. By the end of the conference, these powers decided how they would divide Africa amongst themselves, producing the 1885 General Act, which declared the neutrality of the Congo River Basin, guaranteed freedom for trade and shipping for all states in the basin, forbade the slave trade, and rejected Portugal's claims to the Congo River estuary, making possible the founding of the independent Congo Free State by Belgium. Prior to the Scramble, Europe had been slow to realize the benefits of claiming African land until the 1870s, when they began to claim coastal colonies primarily along the Mediterranean and the African deep south. The Scramble was triggered by King Leopold II of Belgium, whose plan to fund an expedition to explore the Congo was followed through by sending Sir Henry Morton Stanley there. As the Scramble intensified, various European powers raced to claim more land and eliminate any minor local rulers with the potential of disrupting European agendas. The Berlin Conference legitimized the concept of Africa being a mere playground for outside forces, essentially free for foreign powers to seize without any consideration for the native people living on the continent.

Very informative piece but i suggest the author stop trying to sanitize these crimes by using words like "INADVERTENTLY, PARTIALLY, CONVINCED Italy to join", Italy didn't need inadvertent convincing all they needed was opportunity. Or "Bismarck's plan were interrupted FORCING Germany to get involved", they weren't forced they were simply greedy and vile, no arms were twisted. And lastly "the INITIATIVE taken by Portugal", they didn't take the initiative, they took land, lives and resources. See how words, if told by the oppressor class can be manipulated or in this case sanitized as opposed to demonized.

The Berlin Conference began on 15 November 1884; the countries represented at the time included Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden-Norway, Turkey, and the United States of America. It was called by the German chancellor Otto Von Bismark, at the request of Portugal, although Bismark was quite happy to play a role in settling who controlled the vast continent...
