“Dying is gay I’m out.” - Jun A266 8/30/2552
Nah, reconnaissance. He lives so he can tell others what happened.
Later in Halo Infinite.
He who runs away lives to fight another day
@@Ribbons0121R121 *dies in halo 5
Jun - Sniper, tends to take a step back from the action to fight, survives by being away from the action
Exactly, that passiveness of the passive aggressiveness is what made him survive.
"Dying is Gay, I'm out"
Dunno if your interested or care, but Jun survives reach and manages to get out and helps train the new Spartan 3's and Spartan 4's. It's in a book, can't remember name of it though
@@MatZuvO I know about that book
@@MatZuvOalthough in today's writing we'll never learn, but I wonder if he survived the battles with the Banished.

@@TidalFang Literally. Some call that overkill, I call that Halo.

No, it proves the exact opposite. He shot one Elite an then just stood there like an idiot
Best, grittiest, and emotion Halo game ever made. I want another game with the player's character as the main protagonist. Love being able to see our own spartan in the armor we configured in cutscenes. Game was just a masterpiece.
I made my spartan the protagonist of Reach and I did a 2 possible timelines thing where one of the timelines my character survived reach but that severely injured and was in stasis until the events of Halo Infinite, and the other timeline, my character died. Obviously, my preferred timeline is the one where my character survived and is now a commander leading a team of spartan IVs but is still recovering from the trauma of the events of the Fall of Reach and the deaths of Noble Team.

If you look in the background of all the outside levels, it also tells a story of the UNSC slowly losing the space battle until the Pillar of Autumn, where you can see the entire covenant fleet converging on the shipyard.

"Ditto" - Jun
he also died clearing the way for his team. A great team leader will always put his team first.
Halo's version of Rogue One, before Rogue One
Nice video.
In the case of Jorge it has also been said that he always said he would never leave Reach and would die there...only to perish in space aboard a Covenant carrier.
Same for Kat, brains of the team and shot through the brain.
Still good job 😊
Not just in space. He said he would never leave Reach, and died being teleported to only God knows where.
Also he went out thinking he saved Reach, only for even more carriers to show up
And S-IIIs were seen as the expendable ones, so the only S-II on the team being the first one to go, on top of that being followed with another wave of ships, similar to how the S-IIs were followed up by the S-IIIs, is peak irony and symbolization
I still fucking hate how Kat died! I even manually timed the gap between the impact of the glassing beam allegedly breaking the shields to when she got shot in the head, versus shield recharge times on all difficulties, and it’s complete bullshit, even on legendary, her shield would have been back long before she got shot! Every single time I play Reach, her death is the moment I emotionally disconnect because just how fucktarded it is.
@@Mortablunt Who knows how long Shielding should return after being hit by the EMP wave caused by the Glassing. Maybe Noble team had to reset their Shields manually while in the fallout bunker. Or maybe it takes minutes for the Shields to be recharged instead of the standard 6-10 seconds. In reality its just The Plot making itself known since up to that point in the Halo franchise we've never seen anyone die, what I would call, a worthless death. We've seen loads of Humans die but its always the same, fighting and losing to superior Covenant forces (Not counting everyone the Playerbase have team killed) but Kat just dies.
Their deaths are a poetic cruelty. All horrible, yet fitting ways for all of them to go out.
Carter: The Leader- Goes down with the ship
Kat: The Brains- Sniped in the head
Emile: The CQC Expert- Killed by an Energy Sword
Jorge: The noble one- Makes an ultimately worthless sacrifice
Noble6: the Lone Wolf- Overwhelmed and slaughtered
Jun: The Sniper- The lonely survivor
Noble 6- the lone wolf who found a pack that he watched die around him, fated to face the overwhelming horde until he's finally overwhelmed. In his last moments is determined to kill as many as he's able because the rest wouldn't have gone down without a fight had it been them in his shoes.
6 was also the only other SPARTAN to earn the Ultra Lethal moniker.
The other one was the Chief himself.
@@Talon1124 *Hyper Lethal, but your point still stands.
Jorge died thinking he saved reach and killed a bunch of covenant. Worse ways to go
Carter: never abandons team- leaves the remaining members to fend for themselves
Kat: intellectual- dies because she was careless
Emile: cqc guy- dies because he neglected situational awareness training
Jorge: preferred to die on reach- dies in space
A thing to note about Emile, is, canonically, the energy sword melts all of the person's internal organs into a mush upon entering their body, so Emile managed to pull himself off of said blade, shout out, "Im ready, how 'bout you?!" And kill the elite with all but his brain in mushified.
I imagine that Spartan physiology is probably juuuust a bit tougher than that of a regular person to where it still took a couple seconds to become mush, but yea, it basically becomes even more badass in retrospect.
What's worse is that Emile is an Alpha Company S-lll. Who were all wiped out. Literally the last one standing. Apparently his brother died and he saw it. Dunno if it was his literal brother or not but it explains why he's the way he is.
IIR in halo ghosts of onyx one SIII had needler explosion detonate in one of his sides, but still managed to walk few 10s of metres and talk a bit ''I got nicked'' or something along the lines. I think it was explained that SIII had some really strong hormone atlerations made and required medicine every couple days to not go insane.
From physiology- Emile was stabed through mid-spine to mid-abdomen, so massive hemoraging, skevered heart and complete paralysis bellow shoulders would be a minimum. Still, Emile had movement from shoulders and higher + SII and SIII armor was connected to their minds and would assist movement (if it would be hacked, it could move on its own iirc), so its no surprise that he still managed to jam his fist into elites throat.
I'd say Kat was the thinking head of the team
Well, she no longer has one.
She was the brains of the team, unfortunately she doesn’t have one anymore.
that is just wrong but you aren't wrong
I’m pretty sure the irony of Jorge’s death is that Reach was his home, but he’s the only one that died off of Reach (in space) and also that he thought he saved Reach but as we know, he didn’t. In game, he’s never mentioned as the explosives expert, so I never understood where people got that from.
And the irony in Kat’s death is that she’s the smart one, and died by having her brain sniped
Jorge wears the "grenadier" helmet, and some of his other pieces were either grenadier too or their names referenced explosives. A bit of a stretch, but not out of the realm of possibilities
Spartan 3s wore there armor based on there skills
Unlike Spartan 4 who can choose there armor when they start

Wasn't the ironic part of Jorge's death is that he was raised on Reach, loved it a lot, and never left it but yet he didn't die on it?
yeah Reach was his only home, and he wanted his lasting moments to be ON Reach...
It's like making each of them die in the field they're best at. That gives me the feeling that: "This is war, a terrible war. Not even a mission with highest survival chance will let them leave unscathed."

For Kat, I figured her part in the pattern was that she was the tech specialist. Which meant she was the brains of the group then died to a headshot, where her brain is.
Love that for Emile it’s “Dies by the sword.”
As in: “Live by the sword, die by the sword.”
I don’t think being glassed is a shield malfunction. It’s more likely that the shields overheated from too much radiation
If you notice in the cutscene just before kat dies, when she tries to turn the elevator on she has trouble finding the button the 1st hit, its because she was using her prosthetic arm. Id say this shows most electronic equipment was malfunctioning due to the emp of the glassing
I think it's because she just put her helmet back on. Shield hadn't charged yet.
@@aboveaveragebayleaf9216she was looking at the glassing beam too. Temporary blindness..
But we see none of noble recharge shields in that scene with helms put back on
@daefaron might be, but if I remember right everyone else had their helmet on before that camera shot, but she put it on as they were running. Like a second before she got shot.
You basicly just said it wasn't a malfunction it was a malfunction
I've seen people say Kat's shields were likely knocked out by the blast, not necessarily a malfunction, but not a bad thoughts either.
Because what is used to glass the surface is actually plasma, and plasma breaks shields, so kat couldn't be defended against that shot with her shields
Of course the sniper of the team is the only one alive.

Kat’s death is still one of the hardest hitting character deaths ever for me. Right up there with Boromir, bro. 😭😅
It hurts me because, that’s death for you, it can come suddenly and then the next moment, that person is just gone. None of this slow dying and still able to speak stuff, like you see in every movie, i.e. Sgt Johnson (his death still hurts, cuz it was done right I think. But I’m sure you get what I’m talking about)
Mannnn, that Boromir scene gets me every time, right when he says "...my king" after presenting his weapon to aragorn in respect, recovering the hope he'd lost. 😭
Noble 6 is the one where there are no words… standing alone, left on the planet
@@DivineHellas Especially knowing he had that opportunity to escape but chose to stay on Reach to buy time for the Autumn to get away.
no its not lmao
Kat is a bit of a reach lol. No pun intended
She was a brainiac. She got domed.
I always viewed her death as “brains of the operation, dies via headshot”
Nah it ain’t. The emp knocked all their shields out and that’s the reason that the needle pierced straight through her helmet
She had no shield during that part, so it probably is somewhat accurate
So much for Kat like reflexes
Jun: Long range sniper.
Survived due to being at long range - from the planet.
In lore noble six actually survives for a few months have the ship leaves, its unknown if he dies from kill squads looking for him, or from the glassing, but it is known he never makes it off reach
As much as I hate that most of us already knew this... I *still* hurts to read that they all died doing what they do best (except Jun that we know of) and especially.... Noble Six dying....... *alone* 😢😭
Of course Jun being a headhunter and a sniper, he keeps his distance
Ironically he’s the only one who lives
Also in case we’re including armor lore for this, I’m pretty sure Kat’s helmet was designed for air combat, which could also support the explanation of why she died, as it wasn’t meant for ground combat it would easily be damaged, the reason why she wore this may be because she piloted falcons or pelicans a lot, it also adds to the irony, she wasn’t prepared for a headshot even though she was the nerd of the group
The only reason he survived was because he was chosen to take Dr. Halsey off of Reach and escort her.
@@JustATechEnjoyer dude it’s irony
Plus he was ordered by carter to escort her, if we want to get technical about it
Curiously, regarding the fate of Noble Six, this was foreshadowed earlier in the game, when Carter was talking him about leaves behind his lone wolf attitude, and when he was briefly pinned by an Elite that tried to stabs him with an Energy dagger in the first chapter, Winter Contengency, and he survived thanks to the intervention of his companions.
And in "Lone Wolf", he died fighting completely alone, like a lone wolf, and he was killed by be stabbed with an Energy dagger, as this time, he hadn't his companions to supports him.
>Jun
>Stealth specialist
>Gets away undetected
Not so fun fact: Being impaled by an Energy sword essentially melts the internal organs due to the Plasma energy. Emile was literally using the rest of his physiological prowess to take that Elite out. True Legend.

Epilogue Piano 🎹
@Zachery Sharbono I know what you're talkin about, that piano that plays the same notes ONLY right after Kat gets shot, and at the End when you fight them off to the last stand.... that's imo the saddest tune in Halo for me, because we know it's not only the END but the FALL OF REACH... the only reason I probably didn't cry at the end as a kid was likely due to the fact that it was still an action game and the other thoughts goin through my head were to just TRY AGAIN and see what happens if I just fought HARDER and lasted longer. I think we ALL thought the ending would be different if we fought harder... just goes to show how Beautifully Well writen Halo Reachs story was.
Reach imo is the most ACCURATE example of what a Planet Scale Alien invasion would look like, which of course just makes it THAT MUCH more tragic and horrifying.

The hole idea that spartan B-321 was being jump yet he went to town on them was crazy he rip himpartan(a name to represent when B-321 was folding them All until he falled)
I gotta say that with Carter, it's a naval tradition that the captain always went down with the ship. It's all irony, but I also think it was some despair from the developers that it was the last Bungie Halo game. the higher ups were glad to be out from under Microsoft, but the team actually making the games liked doing so. So they made reach to kind of vent their frustrations. Jorge actually could be alive if his shields were up, his helmet was on and he were broadcast to a different place, but we don't know what happened to him.
-Why don't you ever give up?
-Bacause they never did
"Spartans never die. They just go missing in action."

Yo this vid really got me in the feels. Idk why. Lol Well done. 👏👏👏
I'm glad it did. Thank you for watching :-)
It's crazy how when I was a kid, before I even understood the story, Jun was my favorite character
"Die by what you live by"
Jorge could have theoretically survived. The bomb splipspaced part of the ship away, destroying the ship itself, but the part that warped could still be intact. If any life support systems remained active, he could just be hopelessly lost on a giant floating piece of scrap.
Nah, everybody talking about jun and cat, so no one is gonna talk about how Kat was green and Emile had a cqb helmet on?
Jun: Sniper, stays far away from the action
Doesn’t die, is nowhere near any of Noble’s deaths (closest is Kat, where he’s still out of range of the Elite Sniper)
Those who fight monsters might take care, lest they become a monster. And those that gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.
They died as they lived.
But Spartans never die, they’re just missing in action.
“Dont cut yourself”

"dies alone"
me in a 8 person lobby: "are you sure about that?"
Noble six: hyper lethal and lone wolf
Dies: holds out for (in lore) 18 hours against incoming covenant forces and dies alone.
Every death is pretty ironic and symbolic, Notably Noble 6 was basically us the player chasing an impossible goal.
You could say that Kat was the *brains* of the team, which makes her death more ironic.
The brain of the team died to a headshot.
I never knew that mat died from energy shield malfunction in her arm I thought she was doomed to die
I never played halo reach but i actually never seem to have noticed this detail as well despite watching many of these videos. It does make sense now.
Jorge, born and lived on Reach all his life. Died leaving Reach for the first time
“Dies alone” 😢 that one hit
Spartans never die. They’re just missing in action.
"Dies of shield malfunction"
The sniper: Pikachu face
sniper jackal: come on, I worked real hard to get that kill, damnit!
For Jorge, I think the irony was that he said himself that “He would never leave reach”
Only to basically get teleported away across multiple dimensions or something idfk how slipspace bombs work
Soldier: Occupation: Soldier
Dies fighting soldiers.
Everyone: 😮
All of noble team died to their respective specialties. Carter, the leader died with his ship. Kat, the tech specialist doesn’t just die to a shield malfunction but to the head. Emile, the melee specialist died to an energy sword. Jun, the stealth specialist/sniper ‘died’ mysteriously and unanswered. Jorge, the heavy weapon specialist died to a massive explosion. And six, the lone wolf died alone.
Jun: Sniper stays out of direct contact
doesn't die due to a lack of direct combat
Reach is a complete masterpiece of a game. I've never even owned it, nor an Xbox, but it's been one of my favorite shooter games since I played it at a friend's house as a kid. That's how good this game is.
As far as Carter goes, I think he was dead already by the start of the last mission. It was just a matter of time before he succumbed to his injuries. Otherwise he would have gone to ground with 6 and Emile and probably set the pelican to a brief autopilot or get Auntie Dot to do it. Since we know at least smart AI can in the Halo universe (Cortana in the last two missions of Halo 3 and in the first mission of CE).
Never realized it was a shield malfunction and you realized after like the 5th mission or so one dies each mission afterwords
They all had poetic deaths. I love Reach to this day and never even noticed this detail
Kat didn't die of a shield malfunction, she just put her helmet on and they hadn't kicked in yet.
also Jorge dies thinking he saves his planet, kat dies to a brain shot, and Six dies as the last spartan on Reach
missed opportunity to throw shade at Jun the sniper
It’s believed that b312 survived by retreating to a nearby cave
An addition to Kat, not only does she die because of a shield malfunction, but because she failed to press the elevator button the first time. She died of both technology failing her and her failing to properly use technology. Salt in the wound man.
Ironic that carter tells six, no more of that lone wolf stuff out here, then six decides “f**k that, imma man that gun.”
Jun hidden sniper:
Dies in sniper valley halo 2 LASO 947 times
Cat was the brains of the team until hers were splattered on the floor
Mean while Jun:
Dying is gay. Peace out! *Leaves Noble team on Reach*
So the entirety of noble team tasted the rainbows?
that was one thing that bugged me with kats death was how did she die when she had an energy shield but thankfully you pointed out that she somehow had a shield malfunction
Supposedly the energy shield doesn't quite start recharging (or at the very least doesn't engage) until the Spartan puts their helmet back on , and she kinda only did that a second or two before getting shot, so that's another possible reason on top of being practically EMP'd by the beam.
@Norrec Vizharan I don't know about that cause Kat puts her helmet back on when the elevator starts going down but of course we don't know how far the elevators traveled so maybe yeah the shields didn't have time to recharge. As for the glassing beam causing an emp I don't recall it ever doing that though
Last time i played this game was in like 2020, i have played the game for many years previously, i only now realised that Jun survived

The trilogy made us love Master Chief.
The spin-offs made us Respect his legacy: The Spartans.
You know, even though I've played Reach since the day it came out, I never really put two and two together, but yeah, their deaths are symbolic of their roles within Noble Team.
Jun stealth specialist: dies off screen
Jun actually survives, he becomes one of the trainers for the Spartan-IV program.
The Jorge death is more about how all he wanted was to save reach, the planet he actually loves yet he doesn't die on it, instead dying above it thinking he had saved it
i just assumed kat had her shields off since they were in a non combat situation not too long ago, and simply forgot to/didnt have the chance to think to turn it back on because of adrenaline/the high tension situation of being in the middle of a glassing. the reason i think spartans have to turn their shields off from time to time is because the suit does (i assume) have a limited power supply to some capacity, even if it is powered by a reactor of some kind you probably dont wanna have it burning up too much energy at all times (and im sure the shield burns alot of energy considering what it is)
I thought the reason her shields were down were because of the radiation from the nearby plasma bombardment shorting out their shields, since it's been established in lore that their shields can be shorted out from that sort of energy blast (e.g. the plasma pistol overcharge). Basically she died from an unlucky circumstance and an enemy getting lucky enough to have an angle on her as she was passing by the only open spot in the area. She died, NOT because she was outsmarted, but instead from a series of unfortunate events that she couldn't plan around. All of Noble team was vulnerable in that moment, Kat was just the unlucky target caught by the sniper in the Phantom. It could have been Noble 6, but he/she had plot armor.
Fun fact: In canon, Noble 6 lasted hours alone against an entire covenant ARMY.
We are talking everything from Grunts to Hunters, even vehicles like Wraiths and Banshees... If its covenant and you've fought it in a halo game, Noble 6 took many of them out down there on Reach.
I like to think Reach was the point on which the Shangheili began wondering if humanity truly deserved extinction.
They are an honour driven warrior race, a culture with such values cannot ignore a valiant last stand like Reach.
If they were willing and capable to put up that much of a fight against the overwhelming odds, why couldn't they join the Covenant?
if i remembre correctly he actually survive weaks
And the long range specialist lived because he was far away from the action
jun dies of old age like the end from metal gear solid 3
The 5 who die are in the room and the one who lives is outside
I wonder if noble team recognized the irony in their fates.
This video is beautiful. Thanks for the effort. Remember Reach
leader noble , dies saving his team ... well whats left of it
Jorge’s death was 100% because he was the only Spartan II. At this point, Spartan II’s we’re legends among the halo community. The only way Bungie could respectfully kill one off was with literally the most powerful weapon ever developed, and with Jorge being the one to activate it. Essentially the only way he could die was if he allowed it to happen.
Jorge was teleported to God knows where, it would be really cool to find him in a future game, whether he's a body among the wreckage of the covie ship floating in space somewhere or he somehow managed to survive (would be unlikely and take away from his sacrifice on reach). Or if the flood was reintroduced the story could lead you some kind of distress call from Jorge on the crashed ship in a remote part of the galaxy and when you get on the ship is revealed to be a flood ambush in the first flood Spartan is seen in campaign. That would be a good way to make a horror style mission and pull at your heartstrings by making you kill Flood Jorge and it'd be scary as fuck
meanwhile June is getting drunk after they charge him with training a new generation of spartans.
Carter being the team leader also dies to save his team
June was all sneaky being hidden with the sniper and did so that's why you do see him die
