    President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. receives the letter of credence from Her Excellency Constance See Sin Yuan, Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Singapore to the Philippines, in a ceremony at the Reception Hall in Malacañan Palace on June 8, 2023.
    During the ceremony, Ambassador-Designate Yuan shares her plans to explore new areas of bilateral cooperation, focusing on sustainability and energy, among others. She also emphasizes Singapore’s commitment in promoting peace and prosperity in the region amid the global challenges.
    “Our future in this region depends on our response to this opportunities and challenges together. We are confident that under your leadership the Philippines and Singapore will continue its close cooperation and our bilateral relations will continue to flourish,” states the Ambassador-Designate.
    In his brief remarks, President Marcos Jr. acknowledges the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and Singapore. He also emphasizes the importance of deepening bilateral partnerships between the two countries during this period of transition in the global economy.
    “As we go through this transition period where we have to adjust to the new global economy we still look at Singapore to be our very strong partner,” says the President in his response.
    Before meeting with President Marcos Jr., Ambassador-Designate Yuan is accorded with arrival honors and signs the guestbook at Malacañan Palace. She will also visit the Rizal Monument to lay a wreath in honor of the national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
    Diplomatic ties between the two countries were established in 1969 and will celebrate their 55th anniversary in 2024.
