    I am really glad I subscribed to your kit rundowns. Unfortunately, I was a victim of the ill-fitting window problem before I discovered your advice. The rest of the kit went together just fine, I built mine as a second "Union 76" livery service truck for my garage diorama.

    Thanks for doing this review, I'd seen the kit in the store and wondered about it (mainly for the coke machine). The truck bed sounds like a challenge to fit together.

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  Před 6 lety

      It's a nice kit. The glass will have to be filled, but other than that it goes nicely. The bed is a challenge, but nothing a modeler can't do if they are patient and wait for the glue to dry a bit before moving to the next part.

    Great build! Have the kit, earlier release without the Coke machine. Have a wired distributor and whitewalls on the way. Plan on opening up the grill by grinding it through from the back, works a treat! Small nitpick, the 265 V8 in 55 was red, not orange. I know strange, however all the pictures and the instructions show this.

    Nice authentic rendition. Most of them were white like this but with a 235 six-cylinder engine. There was a very rare original blue with black top auctioned off a few years ago. The red bed area was a standard stepside steel with fiberglass outer panels. The engine has the optional oil filter cannister. They were still optional for '55. They can be painted blue with orange top.

  • @CycolacFan
    @CycolacFan Před 5 lety +1

    Fixing the glass issue is easy, get some thin plastic strip and glue it either onto the body or the lower edge of the glass. Then cut it to shape and either paint it black (if it's attached to the glass) to represent a window seal or body colour.

    I’m working on this kit now. Did you have any issues with how the front wheels fit ? My front wheels just slide off! On the rear wheels, one doesn’t quite fit the steel axle, and it slides off. I’m also not happy with how the cylinder heads fit the block - there’s enough slack such that the exhaust system won’t line up unless I have the heads perfectly aligned.

    Hi, general question, and perhaps I've missed it, but in all the videos it looks like everything is getting paint including the spots where parts have to be glued together. Do stop and mask these areas, or scrape it before gluing, or do you just put glued over paint? Thanks for your time and great videos.

      @blkft Před 3 lety

      He washes his kits in Simple Green the rinses them in water (in a sink or small tub) to remove any "mold release" film left over from the manufacturer.
      I've used Dawn dish soap, clean dedicated sponge, and a toothbrush, in warm (not hot!) for years to do the same. Carefully wash all parts leaving them on the sprue and let dry.
      I also re-wash and thoroughly dry all assembled parts prior priming and painting. This is to remove any contaminents from handling during assembly.
