Thank you for the little tips and pointers you give while tying. The consistency and control over my dubbing has improved dramatically from little things I've learned. Catching in the tip of the dubbing and then twisting it down has improved my ability to control the bulk so well.
I'd also like to thank you for your patience with so many of us that have asked the same questions of you continually. In a different life you might have been a monk or a teacher. I appreciate the grace.
Love this fly!!! Can't wait to try on some trout at Roaring River. Thank you Barry!!!!!
Thanks Dennis.
Excellent dressing now it’s got me wanting to do this with the E12
You should!
The wing you add is different in its setting than that of an Elk Hair Sedge. Tying in the wing so it acts as a stabilizer to the fly has to be a better style in my opinion. Thanks Barry!
Thanks Kerry.
This fly looks pretty good. Thanks
This is more like the Elk Hair Caddis variant in my opinion. Nice fly!!
This is a super variant of a super fly for hunting grayling and trout

Great pattern Barry, another one for the list. I’ve been meaning to ask you for a bit of advice for a few weeks but have just been that busy it’s slipped my mind. Wally wings. Any tips or advice on separating them. I recently took delivery of some stunning larger feathers and so far 80% of them have given me zero issues however a few of them have just refused to separate away from the stem. I’ve tried using the steam from my kettle to try and soften them before tying and also after tying in, I’ve tried using a scalpel (with a magnifier) but each time I’ve had to revert to brute force in tearing them away with obvious varying success. Any tips or tricks you could recommend pal
Hi Junior, Thanks. You have hot the nail on the head! It only works with about 80% of the feathers. A good tip though is when you are separating the wings from the stem, only use two barbules when pulling the wing away from the stem, no more, no less always two! This seems to give better results. Don't use a scalpel that just doesn't work.
The feather bender Ok bud thank you. I’ll give it a try through the week when I next get a chance to get at my table.
