Dinesh D'Souza and Christopher Hitchens go at it again at the 2008 Freedom Fest as the "Main Event".
FreedomFest is an annual festival where "free minds meet" to celebrate "great books, great ideas, and great thinkers" in an open-minded society. It is independent, non-partisan, and not affiliated with any organization or think tank.
Founded and produced by Mark Skousen, since 2002, FreedomFest invites the "best and the brightest" from around the world to talk, strategize, socialize, and celebrate liberty. FreedomFest is open to all and is purely egalitarian, where speakers, attendees, and exhibitors are treated as equals.

Christopher Hitchens (born 1949) is an author, journalist and literary critic. Currently living in Washington, D.C., he has been a columnist at Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, World Affairs, The Nation, Slate, Free Inquiry, and a variety of other media outlets. Hitchens is also a political observer, whose books - the latest being "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" - have made him a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits.
In 2009 Hitchens was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the "25 most influential liberals in U.S. media." The same article noted, though, that he would "likely be aghast to find himself on this list" and that he "styles himself a radical", not a liberal.

_"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."_ *Marcus Aurelius*

That ain’t how it works Chief. God is perfect; therefore your morals don’t mean shit to him because he’s the only reason you have any to begin with. Every action you take and word you speak is already known, so believing that they will be impressive is just your ego in action. Any God that would just a person on his or her human morality would be no true God. This quote is just another highlight of a blowhard who doesn’t take the time to sit down and understand the very basic essence of what would entail God.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian: (enjoy!)
10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

Some of the comments about this video show that religious belief has nothing to do with experience or reason but with deep and irrational needs. The religious will discount anything that runs counter to their beliefs; they are willing to ignore all the findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written.
Everyone has an aversion to being lied to but believers willingly sacrifice their critical thinking and logic and accept that they MUST believe in something without doubting it.
There is one question for believers that I find to be the most telling when they respond. Considering everything that is required for you to invest in your religion, if there’s even the slightest possibility that you have been manipulated, fooled and lied to, why wouldn’t you investigate that?

The reality of the day isn't altered, just the runners' perception. It's all how you chose to see things but you take a pessimists point of view because of your beliefs. You believe that people can't effectively think for themselves and we should submit to an invisible Santa in the sky and let the bible govern our lives.
A book can't govern nor can a mythical father figure. Only people can govern. If those who follow the bible had their way, we'd find that the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; they would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us, invade our schools, libraries and homes. Modern geologists describe hell as the molten core of the center of the Earth, and the historicity of Noah's Flood is well beyond legitimate dispute. Charles Lyell's geological deception set the stage for Darwinism, a Satanic fantasy couched in obscurantist jargon. Even the senseless title of this absurd video is completely misleading, and solid evidence based on more than 5,000 extant MSS established the integrity of the infallible Holy Scriptures long before C. R. Darwin succumbed to his diseases in 1882. No species of plant or animal living anywhere on Earth came from another genus, and Christianity has nothing to do with "religion" as it is a personal relationship to the Saviour at its onset I never converse with inanimate objects, and rational exegetes worldwide proved that the jailbird "FFreeThinker" website is a stupid Marxist cyber fraud operated by worthless spambots daily (ever since its unauthorized origin as that illicit nonentity a la mortemain). It often deletes important and truthful comments because such Internet hacker software cannot be formatted to perceive substantive facts in a realistic context. The alcoholic Trotskyite blasphemer "Hitch" deliberately lied about the historiography of the Old and New Testaments for decades, but he also died hopeless and unconscious on 15 December 2011 A.D. at a cancer treatment facility in Texas after a long illness. No offense is since his fatuous "argument" had NO legitimate basis in ecclesiology, cosmology, ontology, epistemology, classical literature, archaeological discoveries, British Common Law, the scientific method, advanced prophetic eschatology or unadulterated linguistic derivations. Anti-Semitic dogmatists without exception hate Genesis through Revelation in any case, and Darwinism is a vile racist fairy tale. Logic guarantees that any "commitment to a certain kind of dialectic" inevitably results in circular reasoning, and it is very sad that amoral hypocrites along with their fellow illiterate narcissists pretending to think for themselves cannot understand how fanatical skepticism fails at everything when they copy and paste their baseless libels against Christians and Jews on pointless blogs controlled by depraved militants who receive venal contributions from senile totalitarian fools.

His health was declining and I filled that lack for him. Yet he was around 70-75 at the time. The point of this story is being 70 and his memory being in such a decline. According to Christian dogma, those people are now all "burning in Hell" because they failed to acknowledge Jesus, while the ones responsible for their deaths are joyful in Heaven because they "believed" and are therefore forgiven by their imaginary friend.

@@tjones5719 _"considering you supported the extermination of religious people (as both Jews and Christians were killed)"_ That is a lie and a libel on your part. Cite your evidence that I supported any of the actions carried out by German *Christians*
One of the first things Hitler did upon becoming Chancellor was to seize the assets of the Deutscher Freidenker-Verband (German Freethinkers Association) an organisation of German atheists and free thinkers, unfettered by religious doctrine. The national headquarters building was repurposed to become an office promoting church matters and religious belief. This action was supported by Christian leaders (Including Martin Niemöller) as they opposed anything fostered by the Liberal "Weimar Republic"
You assume that I support the deaths of millions of my grandfather's co-religionists, not because of anything I said, but because I am an Atheist, and because you hate anybody who won't kiss your fat arse.
You have claimed I support the murder of the "Bibelforscher (Bible Students) simply because I refused to concentrate on the ones who followed the American Joseph Rutherford (Jehovah's Witnesses) and I also condemned the murders of the physically and mentally disabled as well as the Slavs, Serbs, Gypsies etc. I also condemned the killing of Atheists, a group who you pretend were the ones in charge of the whole stinking mess.
And yes, I am angry that some lying piece of arsewipe keeps touting a piece of fake wartime propaganda put out by the US government to change the attitudes of an American population that were supportive of the Nazis, right up until the point the Nazis declared war on the USA as "proof" that Hitler was an Atheist. He had jailed Atheists and outlawed Atheism a full five years before the events of Kristallnacht, but you prefer to sweep that fact under the carpet.
My grandfather survived the German camps while the father of one of your Presidents, and grandfather of another was doing business with the Nazis to get his grubby little paws on stolen Jewish gold.
Actions speak louder than words, and the actions of the Nazis towards the Jews followed a long and bloody history of persecution and blood-libel of the Jewish people by Christians. Indeed the roadmap Adolf Hitler followed in his persecution of the Jews was laid out by Martin Luther, so are you going to add to your lies by claiming that the founder of the Protestant Reformation was also an Atheist?
_Accordingly, it must and dare not be considered a trifling matter but a most serious one to seek counsel against this and to save our souls from the Jews, that is, from the devil and from eternal death. My advice, as I said earlier, is:_
_First, that their synagogues be burned down, and that all who are able toss in sulphur and pitch; it would be good if someone could also throw in some hellfire. That would demonstrate to God our serious resolve and be evidence to all the world that it was in ignorance that we tolerated such houses, in which the Jews have reviled God, our dear Creator and Father, and his Son most shamefully up till now, but that we have now given them their due reward._
_Second, that all their books their prayer books, their Talmudic writings, also the entire Bible, be taken from them, not leaving them one leaf, and that these be preserved for those who may be converted. For they use all of these books to blaspheme the Son of God, that is, God the Father himself, Creator of heaven and earth, as was said above; and they will never use them differently._
_Third, that they be forbidden on pain of death to praise God, to give thanks, to pray, and to teach publicly among us and in our country. They may do this in their own country or wherever they can without our being obliged to hear it or know it. The reason for this prohibition is that their praise, thanks, prayer, and doctrine are sheer blasphemy, cursing, and idolatry, because their heart and mouth call God the Father _*_Hebel Vorik_*_ as they call his Son, our Lord Jesus, this. For as they name and honour the Son, thus they also name and honour the Father. It does not help them to use many fine words and to make much ado about the name of God. For we read, "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain" [Exodus.20:7]. Just as little did it avail their ancestors at the time of the kings of Israel that they bore God's name, yet called him Baal._
_Fourth, that they be forbidden to utter the name of God within our hearing. For we cannot with a good conscience listen to this or tolerate it, because their blasphemous and accursed mouth and heart call God's Son _*_Hebel Vorik,_*_ and thus also call his Father that. He cannot and will not interpret this otherwise, just as we Christians too cannot interpret it otherwise, we who believe that however the Son is named and honoured thus also the Father is named and honoured. Therefore we must not consider the mouth of the Jews as worthy of uttering the name of God within our hearing. He who hears this name-from a Jew must inform the authorities, or else throw sow dung at him when he sees him and chase him away. And may no one be merciful and kind in this regard, for God's honour and the salvation of us all, including that of the Jews, are at stake!_

My opinion of your quote is it's a very negative thought distortion. Christians have been liberated from death and the fear of it through the cross of Christ. In Christ there is true freedom from the passions of our fallen nature. "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed through the renewing of your mind". The mind is the "heart" of a human being. Feed it good thoughts and it reaps good behavior. Feed it bad thoughts or distorted thoughts and we reap the same behavior. That is true whether you are a Christian, an agnostic, or an atheist.
There have been a number of so called Christians or Christian entities that have committed murders etc. That is against God's nature. But committing such acts are also true of atheists. Hitler, Mussolini, Putin, and a host of others come to mind. I'd have to say that most murderers and rapists don't believe in God. Do you think that's a fair assessment? But, you don't see me ranting about such atheists.
I have attended several very good churches made up of very good people. I wonder if Mr Ingersoll ever attended any or if he just wanted to rant about churches/Christians and paint a wide swath of with a paintbrush of a conspiracy theory which is untrue with no basis in fact? Do you not see the cognitive distortion in his statement? A major one is "all or nothing" thinking, also called "black or white" thinking. It's either all good or all bad. Another distortion I see in his statement is "Jumping to Conclusions", both "Mind Reading" and "Fortune-telling". A third looks like "Overgeneralization". Do you see what I am saying? This is true freedom to think rationally. I think Mr Ingersoll has gone to the mind graveyard, not us Christians.
      share.upmc.com/2021/05/cognitive-distortions/

Yes, the scripture states that we have the mind of Christ. In some respects that is true, such as when God speaks to us from His Word. But, I've found that He is largely silent much of the time. Then we have scriptural teachings to falls back on, but we have to be very careful how such teachings are interpreted. The Resurrection of Christ is also a fantastic claim, as is that Christ's death was to pay for the redemption of those that chose to believe in Him. The New Testament is full of what Mr. Hitchens would call "fantastic claims". And I agree, they are shocking, difficult to believe or fathom. But God gives grace and faith to believe and trust in them. Without such grace man is incapable of believing them in his own strength.
I think reading the biographies of Hudson Taylor, Dawson Trotman and Billy Graham would take variance with Hitchens' claim that there is no record that these folks understood the mind of God. On the contrary, I think God used them to bring great multitudes into His Kingdom. Trotman's and Graham's organizations live on today. These organizations' motives are to bring the Good News of the Gospel of Christ to as many as possible.
If you want to speak of the exertion of power over other humans in the real and material world, why don't we discuss the corporate world and the corruption there? I've experienced this first hand as an accountant, also with the legal system as an expert witness in a lawsuit. I had to leave a job because of the corruption of the people I was working for. Do you realize the harm, both professionally and financially, such corruption causes?

I can certainly buy that Jesus was based on a real person who was a wondering messianic rabbi. Mark was the first written book of the Gospel and it doesn’t have any immaculate conception, virgin birth, or nativity. When we first meet Jesus he’s an adult getting baptized by John. It’s certainly believable that Jesus joined John’s group and became the leader of John’s followers after John’s death. The whole nativity story was an invention by later gospel writers to make Jesus more god like.

The Lord Jesus Christ said, "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female" (Mark 10: 6). Eternal salvation from sin by grace through faith solely in Him testifies of His holiness, and Christianity has nothing to do with "religion" because it is a personal relationship to the Saviour. The only-begotten Son of God is the Prince of Peace, and He also averred the Hebrew Tanakh. Simply put, atheism is the pathological denial of Almighty God, and modern geologists describe hell as the molten core of the center of the Earth. The historicity of Noah's Flood is well beyond legitimate dispute, and Darwinism is a vile anti-Semitic fairy tale. Even the term "theory" of evolution" is a scientific misnomer because Darwin's racist hypotheses cannot be proven by observation. Of course, since they have never been proven they are inherently false, and Hitchens wrote turgid Marxist prose. Sadly, the Trotskyite blasphemer "Hitch" became a professional Antichrist liar, and his fellow sodomites called him "Hitch the bitch." Everlasting salvation from sin by grace through faith in Him testifies of His holiness, and the fulfillment of prophecy confirms the veracity of the Gospel that speaks for itself. Intelligent minds want to know what happened after the Saviour arose from the dead almost two millennia ago. Born of a virgin in Bethlehem, the only-begotten Son of God is the Prince of Peace, and the Lord Jesus Christ averred the Hebrew Tanakh consistently as a documented matter of immutable fact. Solid evidence based on more than 5,000 extant manuscripts established the integrity of the infallible Holy Scriptures long before C. R. Darwin succumbed to his various diseases in 1882. Nothing about them pertains to ecclesiology, ontology, cosmology, epistemology, love, common sense, archaeological discoveries, linguistic derivations, classical literature, the scientific method, British Common Law, advanced prophetic eschatology or the Lord God omnipotent whenever they copy and paste their baseless libels against Christians and Jews on pointless blogs controlled by depraved militants who receive venal contributions from senile totalitarian fools.

It wasn't Atheists who called for the Crusades, both against Islam and against "heretics" like the Lollards or the Cathars, and the wars between Catholic and Protestant were not incited by Atheists.
As bad as we paint Islamic fundamentalism today, fewer people have died at the hands of Islamic extremists than have been killed for the Christian religion, and no Atheist ever killed another Atheist for not believing in a different god than they themselves don't believe in.
Despite the lies put out by Christians, Adolf Hitler was not an Atheist and the Church of Rome never turned its back on him or his supporters, even going to the extent of sheltering and protecting Nazi war criminals after the war was over.

I imagine the Roman-occupied Jews, at the beginning of the prior millennium, were tired of having every one of their deliverers slaughtered by roman soldiers, even before he even had time to train and raise an army, so they invented one who could not be killed, could not be found, a magical being suspiciously descended from kings AND the maker of all things, whose every life event was copied from the many successful religious myths of the past, whose only command was follow me (into battle against the occupiers). All of the stories of the death and resurrection are from successful historical myths from other religions and faiths, and can not possibly represent an actual person, because the copyright infringement is total and complete - there is nothing else in the story of Yeshua that isn't copied and pasted from prior successful religious grift.

The only-begotten Son of God is the Prince of Peace, and the Lord Jesus Christ averred the Hebrew Tanakh consistently as a documented matter of immutable fact. jjpetkusiii If, as you claim, there are 5,000 manuscripts 'establishing the integrity of the KJV', then you will have no trouble citing a website where we can read one, and judge for ourselves if your claim is, as we suspect, pure air, or not.

Oldtinear a.k.a. FFreeThinker παρακαλω δε υμας αδελφοι σκοπειν τους τας διχοστασιας και τα σκανδαλα παρα την διδαχην ην υμεις εμαθετε ποιουντας και εκκλινατε απ αυτων Translated into the international language of the world today, that Koine Greek text reads: "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them" (Rom. 16:17). Only the Lord Jesus Christ came to seek and to save lost sinners as the inerrant King James Bible clearly instructs. Darwinism is a corrupt anti-Semitic fairy tale.
