So Murdoc isn't the boogieman (the masked guy from plastic beach) but rather this video is them facing the traumatic experiences they had while on plastic beach! So Murdoc waking up wearing the boogieman's mask is a representation of him feeling like all the events were his fault which. They kinda are since the boogieman was after Murdoc to take his soul as payment for a deal they had made earlier. The others all also face their own traumas, the whale 2D throws up is because he was eaten by it and then forced to eat it after it died and washed up on what he thought was a deserted beach. Noodle is in Russel's mouth and Russel is huge again because they both had to flee the island when it got attacked a second time after Rhinestone Eyes. Noodle sees her mask she had to wear to hide her identity during that time. And then Cyborg Noodle seems to be dead in the sub she and Murdoc fled in before he got captured by the battleship Ringo, hence Ringo being written on it.
The music video before this one, Valley of the Pagans, shows how they got back to Plastic Beach. I highly recommend it! The song is a banger. The official music video is different than how it originally looked though, the original used footage from GTA to make up the majority of the video so they ended up removing it and replacing it with one that's not as funny. The GTA one has been reuploaded if you ever want to see it!
I'm glad someone reacted to Tomorrow Comes Today, it always gets overshadowed by Clint Eastwood.

Holy shit, someone that actually reacted to Tomorrow Comes Today? One of the MOST UNDERRATED songs in the Gorillaz line up, it's so good

Disclaimer/Spoilers for the Gorillaz lore:
"The Lost Chord" takes place after the "The Valley Of The Pagans" music video, where the group gets brought back to Plastic Beach years after the album in 2010.
Every member went through trauma during the Plastic Beach era.
Murdoc was being hunted by the Boogeyman.
2D was tormented by Murdoc and held captive. 2D also had a whale watching him at all times.
Russel finds out about the new album and tries to swim to Plastic Beach, resulting in him becoming a giant due to all the pollution in the water.
Noodle goes on a rampage and is almost murdered when trying to get back to the band.
At the beginning of "The Lost Chord," we can see Murdoc take off the mask of the Boogeyman, possibly representing how Murdoc was really the villain, if you think about it.
2D throws up a whale, representing 2D's fear of whales, which was abused by Murdoc.
We can see Russel as a giant, carrying Noodle like he did in the unfinished Rhinestone Eyes storyboard.
At 7:18, Noodle sees the mask she used to hide the bruises she had on her face during the Plastic Beach album.
At 7:23, we can see Cyborg Noodle inside the submarine, which was built by Murdoc using Noodle's DNA.
Plastic Beach begins to get destroyed by the giant, causing the band to have to flee.
At 10:29, we can see Murdoc helping the rest of the band up, showing how much he has improved since Plastic Beach.
At the end, we can see 2D go back for Murdoc, showing that he has forgiven him.
I love that you pointed out the fact that Murdoc helped them on the tower. I feel like this detail gets overlooked so often but as you said, it’s so important regarding his character development
11:32 ok i know what you mean but the thing is the lost chord is like after the valley of pagans, they teleport here yk, drive through the portal. Althrough i might not be 100% right but plastic beach ended the way that (SPOILERS BOUT THE LORE) murdoc tried to escape with cyborg noodle in a sub, murdoc got taken by the navy and the sub was left with noodle on the beach. (You could see it in the lost chord) 2D got eaten by a whale, the whale beeched and 2D escaped, lived on the beach for a while and eventually realised he was like 2 miles from civilisation. Real noodle and russel were swept out to sea, noodle was taken in by a harvester in japan, russel was picked up by north koreans who though he was a big monster and they kept him as a symbol of their power, he was eventualy released when he shrunk down to his normal size.
the sub was left with cyborg noodle* i don’t want him to get confused gorillaz lore is already crazy as it is 😭
