I hate that pirates is the only thing he really gets recognition for when he's made so many amazing movies before, but just because the weren't big sellers, no one cared. I honestly think he should have gotten an Oscar for Edward Scissorhands. It is one of the most beautiful performances I've ever seen.
It's crazy to respond to a 16 year old comment but you're right, hopefully that has changed now, but Captain Jack is still his biggest role and for me one of his best
Duuude, I remember when this aired on cable tv lol. I was 15 yrs old in 2003 and my Johnny Depp crush was in full force. I recorded it to a vhs tape on my vcr along with any other Johnny clips I could grab from tv…good times 🤙🏻 Came back bc of of the current court case. I hope Johnny finds himself again…
he is an amazing actor truly diverse and unique and you dont find that much any more he can adapt to any role and make the best of it yeah sure he has done some pretty ordainary movies but he has also done some of the most amazing ones
...he IS a mega star...lol it was POTC that made him that...and now people all around the world can enjoy his talent....even though he was very famous in the 90's, now he's even more so =)
I mean, who else would have played Captain Jack Sparrow? Nobody could've done it like Johnny. Not even close. And Johnny proved that pirates could be dammmnnnn SEXYYY!! lol
His "first act" was amazing as well. I loved the movies he made in the 90's. However, they are all very much underrated. The Ninth Gate, for example, is one of my favorite movies of all time. He knows how to pick his characters, no doubt. He is the most talented and versatile actor on the face of the Earth. But, as he said, "I am not Blockbuster Boy." Though, I'm sure that now after POTC, every single movie of his will be a blockbuster (and has proven to be). Can't wait for Public Enemies!!!
johnny depp is the greatest actor of his time he is smart and a good father he is truly perfect! o yea and i would love to see him talk normal in an interview in the edward sissorhands outfit lol
Yeah definitely less of the smaller films, but in the 90's, he had offers for many huge films like Chaplin and Speed and Titanic, but he turned them all down to find films in which he actually liked the characters he would play.
your absolutely right !!! i also think that all the movies of johnny depp are better than good not only pirates of the carribean i can't believe if people are fan of jack but not of johnny depp and believe me there are meny of people who are that !
lol yeh i agree that story has been repeated by him sooo many times. but its soo cute, it def shows the softer side of him and i would never get bored of hearing it if he was tlkin bout me lol =]
So, this is how Americans saw Depp before he became Jack Sparrow, huh? So weird. I was a teenager in the 90s (in Europe though) and grew up with the idea that he is one of the best actors on this planet. It took me nearly 20 years to watch him as Jack Sparrow though... it made me cringe to think that this genius is a Disney character.... Sorry Johnny, now I know I was wrong. I missed your cool Captain Jack creation back then because just the name Disney gave me goosebums in a bad way....
Yeah, and to think at the start all the Disney execs wanted him off! It wouldn't of been half as good without a permanently drunk looking Jack Sparrow!
Yeah me too! I never saw the whole gay aspect while watching the films and I still don't see it. People need to stop delving into the character so much...Captain Jack is completely heterosexual. I could not ever ever see him being gay. He's a funny, rogue, cunning, and charming character, who is in fact a womanizer. I just wonder how the Disney execs found him to be gay-ish....???
Ha, yeah...but loads of the Disney people wanted im off 'cause they thought he acted drunk and gay...I never really see gay in the character, drunk though, but, it wouldn't of been as funny without with it...
He talks about how he doesn't want his kids being raised in Hollywood then but now they're living here and schooling here too.And have been for years.I guess after Pirates took off he had to come back full time to work?
+Tam L you're right, if you look at him now, he's become this typical celebrity (judging from his latest interviews and movies) and also, his daughter is becoming an actress too. look her up. i think hollywood/movie industry/fame creeps into you over tie. there's no escape once you 'succeed'. on top of that, he's got a young famous girlfriend once again, amber heard. he should retire from acting or something if he wants to keep his 'down to earth' image alive
maxsiehier "Young famous girlfriend" who's 30 yrs old this yr? Okay. What i said wasn't a dis to him and how 'Hollywood' you claim he is now.Just commenting on where he and his children live since this interview and why.
Really? All of his films? I mean a few are quite clearly horrific....like The Astronauts Wife...what the hell was that? And there are others...I love Depp but I don't think you can really LOVE all his films...

Johnny Depp has been amazing in all of his films.
He's such a classy guy.

Wish he could have gotten an Oscar. He deserves more honors than he got. Even today. He is worth a million words. ❤❤❤
daaammm and the POTC movies would be NOTHING without our dear Johnny...
he is an amazing actor truly diverse and unique and you dont find that much any more
he can adapt to any role and make the best of it
yeah sure he has done some pretty ordainary movies but he has also done some of the most amazing ones
he is the sexiest guy alive god dang i have seen every movie or show he was in.
This interviewer is insane...she makes it sound like he sold out but it really is like the rest of the world woke up to realize he was good.
...he IS a mega star...lol it was POTC that made him that...and now people all around the world can enjoy his talent....even though he was very famous in the 90's, now he's even more so =)
He is humble, hot & a damn good actor.
I mean, who else would have played Captain Jack Sparrow? Nobody could've done it like Johnny. Not even close. And Johnny proved that pirates could be dammmnnnn SEXYYY!! lol
Yeah when he did an interview with Howard Stern he said he "labored through" the script for Titanic. God I love him...
Bellissimo ❤stupendo ❤

I loved that interview. It was very funny. It used to be on You Tube, but now it's gone. Bummer.
He goes into the depth of character and act .. he is very intutive and visionary. 👌🙏👍
i love this man, scissorhands rocks!!!!
Depp would've been cool in Interview with the Vampire
Great interview.

Sacran bon bon ! Aw ha ha ha 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😅😅😅😅😅
I cannot see the end neither...
Omggg 2006....
I'd say your right, 'cause now he's a "bankable movie star", much bigger roles probably get offered to him, and less of the smaller films...
Is there a continuation? ause the video only goes til 6 minutes
Yeah, and to think at the start all the Disney execs wanted him off! It wouldn't of been half as good without a permanently drunk looking Jack Sparrow!

Christmas with my girl
Yeah, and if he took those films, things would probably be very different, he might not even of been in the POTC movies!
Oh I'm not dissing it-just stating a fact or to put it more accurately, a quote. I love Titanic :)
@bclarinet2007 u got tht right!!!
Ha, yeah...but loads of the Disney people wanted im off 'cause they thought he acted drunk and gay...I never really see gay in the character, drunk though, but, it wouldn't of been as funny without with it...
@Cruefan12 heck yes we r =)
Omg he would of made a great lastat in queen of the damned
If he could have done just one big family blockbuster.. would you want it to have been Pirates of the Caribean? Methinks not.
He talks about how he doesn't want his kids being raised in Hollywood then but now they're living here and schooling here too.And have been for years.I guess after Pirates took off he had to come back full time to work?
He ment hollywood as on all the papparazzi and stuff
+Tam L you're right, if you look at him now, he's become this typical celebrity (judging from his latest interviews and movies) and also, his daughter is becoming an actress too. look her up. i think hollywood/movie industry/fame creeps into you over tie. there's no escape once you 'succeed'. on top of that, he's got a young famous girlfriend once again, amber heard.
