This very rare live broadcast from Romania in 1946, when David Oistrakh visited and joined George Enescu in the Bach concerto for two violins. Thanks to Cheniston Roland
Thank you! But in fact this is a recording made during Enescu's russian tour in 1946.The recording was made in Moscow. From the same period there is a recording of Enescu coducting USSR Orchestra(Tchaikovky 4 and one of his rhapsodies)Enescu also played in sonata recitals (with Oborin and Sofronitzki)and as a pianist again with Oistrakh(Franck sonata). From my informations he also coducted Gilels in Beethoven 4 and played Khaciaturian concerto with composer in audience.
You can find Tchaikovsky 4 on hmv.co.jp: www.hmv.co.jp/en/artist_Tchaikovsky-1840-1893_000000000018904/item_Sym-4-Enescu-Ussr-State-So-enescu-Violin-Sonata-3-Enescu-Vn-Lipatti_1209622
I wonder whether Enescu plays a Guernarius violin! In some other pieces too, his violin has the flute-like softness which is typical of Guernarius.... Thanks truly for uploading such great music. Hopefully it will be there for generations - after we present audience have all gone...
@@sebastiandangerfield9933 Oistrackh? The god of violin?Hm...Enescu was a genious composer and violonist and oOstrach was the god of volin..Imagine to listen to these two today!!!I hope GOD will give another two like these two violinists!!!
Looking forward to listening to this - will turn off my telephone, take care of my toiletries, lock the door and get ready for the flight to ---- wherever. Thank you in advance.
Thank you!

Enescu owned a Guarneri del Gesù violin - The Cathedral, it was his favourite.
Enescu´s violin playing is the voice of God himself!
And so I suppose Oistrakh’s was just ordinary huh?

Enescu was a great pianist, too. He actually played both violin and piano equally well. He was unique that way.@@marianpopa1282
