"No shooting friends Joseph." Parenting advice of the year ladies and gentlemen.
Ruben S. Hey it’s better than what most parents would say
JOSEPH
Only for the fucking mad Gringos.
This line got one of the biggest nervous laughs in the theater
Lul
Once the angry dad voice came out, it was all over. I love that the classic “counting to three” was the checkmate. Amazing scene.
This is. to me, the most realistic depiction of what it's actually like to discipline your child. When he uses the angry dad voice, it didn't look like acting. It looked like what an actual angry dad has to do.
Say what you will about Bruce Willis, but his ability to portray fear in this scene was exceptional. The fear, hesitation, and the way he stumbled through his thoughts, trying to find the right words to de-escalate the situation is just amazing. I don't think I have ever seen this kind of visceral acting from him in any other movie.
Bruce Willis is actually an extremely overlooked and underrated actor. The roles when he put in 💯 you can see the talent. Unfortunately he got straddled with many action hero stereotypical roles and he sleepwalked in them.
He's a brilliant actor.
I miss when he actually tried to act, he was amazing
@@lowserver2 for a couple years of all those bad movies a lot of people shared that same opinion with you. But it came out that he actually has been dealing with some mental conditions that would heavily effect his acting. This is probably why he started caring less about his rolls and more about the bag.
Bruce Willis used to be a brilliant actor, he’s washed up now
@@captainguyman7382 He has dementia, man.
This movie is criminally underrated. Such a great film
I can only imagine a film like this being made these days by Sonny or Marvel. Too much studio interference. "Okay the main character can work in security but rather than at a sports stadium he works in a museum and in the finale the villain tries to break in to get the special artifact which will give him power to control the universe, and there's also explosions and stuff at the end and a beam going up into the sky. Also the security guard needs a sidekick for comedy, lots of one liners please. Also it needs a cameo by other superheroes like Iron Man. It needs a cool setting too, somewhere iconic."
Reeve would've been prefer then Bruce
@@lw3646 Yea you got it pretty good how marvel will require everything to be perfect instead of having some things be a little normal or dull, which is what real life is.
Just because you happen to like the movie doesn’t mean it was underrated. Can’t people just say they liked this movie and don’t understand why most did not?
I love this scene so much. You can just feel the nervousness and anxiety in their voices, and the overall awkwardness of the scene. Like this scene looks so real to me.
I miss Bruce Willis. He's had an amazing career. But still it's so sad what's happened to him, dealing with an serious illness.
"Joseph, you are about to be in big trouble", as a stubborn kid once, this hits home. 😂
NOW I AM YOUR FATHER & I AM TELL U TO PUT THAT GODDMAN GUN RIGHT

The thing I love about this scene is how it is handled like a parent would usually handle their child if they escalated Like that down to how they act and their constant stuttering
In my opinion this is the best performance by Bruce Willis. I also believe this is M. Night Shayamalans best movie and one of the best movies of all time. Obviously one of the greatest super hero movies. Before The Dark Knight, Logan and Into the Spider-Verse came Unbreakable. A masterpiece.
This man was robbed of an Oscar nod with this performance
can understand why people find this part funny but when i rewatched the movie last week i really teared up at this part.
My gf thought it was too intense. She couldn’t even watch it
I never got it either. This is one of the best scenes in the movie!
Has to be the most underrated superhero movies ever.
Such courage that they cast him as David's grown up son. Like it would have been really courageous to cast Edward Furlong in Dark Fate.
Not really, the actor went on to have a steady successful acting career, whereas Ed Furlong went off the rails.
He was great in Animal Kingdom
"Sometimes when people get sick or hurt for a long time, like Elijah, their mind gets hurt too. And they start to think things that aren't true."
Huh, so it was right there the whole time then
Bruce Willis may have had a dodgy rep among other actors and directors in his later years but the guy will always be a legend, regardless of what happens with his dementia.
Aphasia but yeah
thanks for the memories Bruce

😂 hilarious and underrated comment
Yeah, very shit
I miss the Bruce Willis that actually acts
i agree, the bruce willis now is bored and don't give a f**k about his career anymore.
Well, given recent news, it’s hard to pin that on him.
he's not acting anymore :(
ME TOO.
Yeah, it’s a shame that he’s got Aphasia now and can’t act anymore.
Who else thought the kid would have actually shot?
I remember watching this with my dad when I was maybe 12 years old, and we were SUCKED TF into this scene, because my dad kind of looks like Bruce Willis and had a .351 Revolver that I knew about and knew how to load. When Bruce Willis started counting I seriously thought the kid was going to shoot him. That Dialogue of "you're right, that bullet is just going to bounce right off of me, but then I'm going to leave" was brilliant and saved everything. I was 12 years old and literally felt like I put extra stress on my own dad watching this scene together because Bruce's acting is so damn good. At 2:27, the look on his face is totally expecting for that bullet to come. Also, if you watch this film from beginning to end, this scene also sort of comes out of nowhere. I really can't express how heavy this was to watch on VHS 20 years ago...
Very well said. And something I notice now, that I didn't realize watching the movie 20 years ago, was how badly the kid wanted his dad to be a real life superhero. He'd been totally sucked into Price's "fantasy". He believes it even more than we do.
@@keithv2974 Wow, I think I see that now, too. I think the kid wanted that because he was bullied and wanted his dad to be a super hero so HE could be a superhero.
@@holdover8199 That's a really interesting angle I hadn't thought about! I completely forgot that the son was beaten up during a fight at school, brought about because the son was trying to be a hero.
It amazes me how great M Night once was and then he somehow forgot how to write and direct a good film after Signs
He wrote & directed The Visit, Split & Glass. & he’s got another film on the way called Old
Still an amazing scene to this day.
Taken out of the rest of the fantasy-based film, this one scene is a masterful piece of drama and suspense. As good as a director Shyamalan is, as good as his unique movies are, this scene sadly always makes me wish he would do more "normal" films.
One of my favorite movies of all time
It's a very sad scene to watch the trio of Spencer, Robin and Bruce all crying together.
David's one true weakness (Kryptonite) is Water. Including water inhalation (orally / nasaly) as a choking hazard. That's the reason why he has exhibited immunity against all potential infectious agents and pathogens. However complications regarding water, as in swallowing, were not staved off by his Unbreakable regenerative factor.
Now he knows how George Reeves felt
The most depressing scene in this movie
One of the best scenes I’ve ever seen
Water is supermans weakness in this series.
Water is The Overseer's Weakness
Clark, Bruce, and Robin were all great in this scene.
Without context, this comment sounds like Superman, Batman & Robin stuff
That was my intention lol @@Smile-hk7vd
Wow this is so well writen and acted.amazing
This scene is underrated.
‘Don’t be scared’ LMFAO
The countdown is the most deadliest weapon

While Shyamalan's recent films are considerably better than a few that he made before, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs are still by far his best films and some of the best movies ever.
Who knows? Maybe “Old” will make that list
Glass was absolute dog shit that ruined everything.
Spencer Treat Clark is so
u n d e r r a t e d. . .
He was great in this movie.
It's not even close. This is bar none the best scene in the movie.
God this scene was scary. Kid was so desperate to prove his dad was superhuman he nearly shot him.
But..he was superhuman..the bullet would not have done anything
Some of the best soundtracks come from M S movies.

'Unbruceable'
Its a old film of my favorite actor let me see for free
bruce crushes it in this scene
Not the most natural dialogue (given who it's written by that's not a surprise), but a really good scene still.
I think it's great. They're trying to reason with him while freaking out in the process.
This scene has the tone of M. Night's later movies.
Awkward lines like "No shooting friends, Joseph." delivered with such conviction.
Like which of his other films?

that's a good trick to trick a child.

"JOSEPH, STOP POINTING THAT GUN AT YOUR DAD!"
JOSEPH
I think he would of died besides his Superhuman Strength I don't think he's Invulnerable
Depending on where the bullet hit, I would say that he would have gotten hurt but as long as he got to the hospital in time he would make a quick recovery once the bullet was out
I think the bullet would’ve feel . Even if he got shot I Think he would’ve had a healing factor
Shotgun bullets didn't kill the beast, and David is more durable than the beast so it's safe to assume that nothing would have happened. Maybe just a scratch.
Possibly
I thought the gun wouldnt fire or the shot would go blank if he fired it
Should have just tripped his dad into a puddle of water
Damn, Bruce Willis used to be a good actor. Now he just doesn’t care.
Joseph needs a smack...
What? I can’t shoot my friends? This is ridiculous!
I found this scene quite humorous
Stop!
Why would he threaten to leave?
To get him to put down the gun
It works for kids
So that he won't shoot his father.
Because friends don't shoot friends. This is a messed up kid going as far to shoot someone just to prove a meaningless point.
Why is he trying to shoot him?
He wants to know if his father is really unbreakable or in other words a real life superhero like superman
jajajaja the only good part of this damn movie
I hate this scene so much. It ruins the movie for me. Rather than grabbing the gun before the idiot kid can even pick it up we have to suffer through this extended "Daddy if you aren't superman then I want you dead" bullcrap.
I really like this movie. But even as a fan I know the script is not good. That line about friends shooting each other is just really not good.
So what should the mother said? friends "DO" shoot friends🤔
@@WillsonT011 No.... they wouldn't use that phrasing. Saying "friends don't shoot friends" is silly because no one actually speaks like that. This kid is smart enough not to buy that kiddy kind of line, it's not a famous or often used phrase, and in a tense situation like that you wouldn't come up with some kind of pre-school line like this. It just isn't realistic or good. It's just funny
@@okay6109 it's pretty obvious the mother is scared shittless and she's doing everything not to rile her son up. So did she say something kind of silly? Sure, I'm going to give you that but she's just trying not to lose her composure in front of a son that's desperate trying to prove something.
love me
Must be some mandella effect with this movie, iv seen it about 4 times, and always remember a scene where the son pulls the trigger
Our memories aren’t exactly the most trustworthy things. You could most likely be taking a scene from another movie, and confusing it with this one. I know it might not be what you want to hear, but it’s the most likely explanation.
For example, Superman 2, where Lois Lane “shoots” Clark Kent, and finds out for certain that he is Superman.
lmao, what a way to reenact that time the superman actor was also pointed with a gun by a kid
Ah, Bruce Willis still dead? Like in the Sixth Sense, still immortal, someone see in him a hero, others are scared of the living dead? Okay, guess I get the point. Life and Afterlife are exactly the same. So "Dead like me" is a true story. Some people see you, others don't bother, don't care or take notice, "Yeah, baby, Yeah, baby yeah, I am dead." - Judgement Day killed me on my birthday!
What the fuck are you talking about
@@oneone99able A hypothesis about the existence after death or dying. Getting traumatised by events, may be a death of a beloved person other people claimed to have seen alive after their funeral. A fade in perception. A situation, you would probably not survive but taking notice that nothing actually happend to you. (Ambrose Bierce wrote about it in more than one story. And "Grounddog Day" made fun about this situation (Movie with Bill Murray)).
The effect was also reproduceable under the influence of hypnosis, I remember seeing a girl getting hypnotised in a way that she does not see her boyfriend anymore even if he stood close to her, she got in panic not seeing him taking a pillow to throw it in her direction.
Good to watch what is possible.

*Compare this scene with the one in Split where Casey has a flashback of her almost shooting her uncle after he molests her in the woods. M Night is a genius.*
So now David Dunn is a molester. Good God save us all...

sonic solos anime I don’t get it why he said he’s good version uncle which that’s not true cuz Casey’s uncle sexual abuse her for the first time and then Casey was about to shoot him for that
JOESPH
Both David and the uncle were held at gunpoint by a child - but David was a noble guy, and the uncle was evil. There in a similar circumstance, but they're really different.
M Night based the scene of Joseph trying to shoot David off of the real-life story of George Reeves, the actor who played Superman in the 1950's. A kid wanted to test his invulnerability with a real gun, but he used a bluff to keep him from doing it by saying the bullet might bounce off him and hit someone else.
Also, Looks like the BEAST in the background pictures at Elijah's comic store.
Yeah, I remember seeing that depicted in the biographical movie "Hollywoodland."
Whoa! For real? Geez!
I thought I recognised this, that was always such a chilling story.
George dissuaded the child from firing while also not dispelling the child's belief in him as superman.
He never made any public appearances as Superman again after that.
