  • This video documents the restoration of a rare framed plaster relief of the Divine Infant of Prague. It arrived in many pieces, and the wooden frame was crumbling. Watch as we dismantle it, rebuild it, and restore its former glory! We're a small family operation so we'd really appreciate a like, share or subscription. Thank you! #statuerestoration #statuerepair #brushworks

Cordialement Thierry. La vidéo: Mes restaurations1

      We use Zinsser primer and Behr premium latex paints for outdoor statues. For indoor statues we use Behr and a blend of custom-mixed acrylic paints. Usually Liquitex. Hope this helps!
      As for skin tones, they are fairly complex based on the statue and its positioning and expected lighting. In the near future, we hope to produce a short series of “how to “videos. In one of those I will ask Pauline to speak specifically to skin tones and how to blend them.

    Did the plaster heart you made got blessed by the pope?

      Yes. And we have a photo of the statue with the Holy Father at that mass in Edmonton.

    Thanks for posting this: there are so few videos about this, i think I've seen them all, and not one is precisely what I need. I have an Olot mantlepiece statue of the Sacred Heart. It's lightweight--hollow, has glass eyes and plaster hands. Mostly paint damage and fingers damaged showing armature on outheld blessing right hand. I don't know if this is mostly wood paste or all plaster. Any advice?

    Thank you for posting this, may I ask what kind of paint is used? Do you apply a primer and a sealant?

    • @BrushworksStatueRestoration
      @BrushworksStatueRestoration  Před rokem +2

      Hi Lady Marigold! We use a mix of premium acrylic and latex paints on most of our statue projects. We apply Zinsser primer to help the layers of paint bond well to the statue to avoid an uneven absorption by the plaster - especially if we've had to apply new plaster or sanded down some rougher patches. Interior or exterior prime and paint depending on the project and where the statue will be displayed. We rarely apply sealant over premium paints, unless the statues are likely to be extensively touched.

      Thank you so much! I've just received a commission to repaint a 12 inch statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, she has a lot of faded paint and I think a bit of damage from candles sitting a little too close 😆 these videos have been very helpful, your commentary is really clear and to the point. The transformations are very inspiring.

    What is the name of that cement like white color that was used to smoothen the cracks and broken pieces?

    • @BrushworksStatueRestoration
      @BrushworksStatueRestoration  Před 6 měsíci +1

      The plaster we used is called HydroCal plaster. It dries very white and is considered stronger than common Plaster of Paris. I hope this answers your question. 🤗
