I don't know why this song hits me so hard, other than I am no longer young. I am 46, and for so many, that is not old (I mean, look at Cher), but I feel like I have lived lifetimes and lost so much time. I am not alone, I am not shriveled, I just feel like if I could go back and do it again, I would do it all so differently, and maybe I wouldn't feel so old. I miss my mom and dad, and I swear, given the chance, I would be so much better for them.
I have 44 and I have the opposite thought. I feel so young for my biological age, it’s crazy.
@Bexinmo I don't know if it's any consolation (and I hope it doesn't come across as being a know-it-all. if so, my apologies, that's not my intention!). But what keeps me from most regrets is reminding myself that my current life is the result out of all the decisions I made (and other things that happened to/with me) previously. And since I mostly fine with the former I couldn't go back.
(to bring up an obvious example: in my 20's I had a romantic relationship with a woman that was bordering an abusive to me. But that played into meeting my next fantastic partner. So if I'd remove the one, the other would probably also cease to exist)

I hope Kelly knows how important her presence in this world is and how she moves people with her incredible personality and empathy for others. The fact she can sing any song and effortlessly while finding a way to relate to it shows the love she has for music, and we feel music more when it's her singing it. Her voice is the most versatile and beautiful sound I have ever heard, and how we connect with her while she brings us joy is so important. She is what a role model and icon is, and she has become this by just being herself. Love this woman like a friend, and how she looks at the world and overcomes challenges that life brings to all of us, that's someone to inspire to be like.

Anticipating the jump on "young" by moving before on the 'be" is really effective, I think. The original is a little jarring, but this alteration makes it much more palatable.
Always better than the original . Seen her in concert may times and she is always an awesome show.
Nah, I love Kelly's voice (she's been such a fave of mine) but she lacked the pure emotion of the original in this case.

Even if Kelly can pretty much match with any song that's out there, this one sits right in that sweet spot of her voice. If this song never was released by Miley Cyrus you would believe it was a Kelly Clarkson original.

The run up on the exploding 'used to be young` is much more what I expected and wanted on the original, instead of going down like Miley does. Maybe its just a difference in range, as Miley's voice is much lower on the original as well. A great song, and a fantastic (if short) cover. I'd love to see a full length cover from Kelly

I feel like this song is hitting certain women (like me) very differently now...esp being married for decades and your husband still acts like he did when we met 30 plus years ago! 🤦♀️ Someone had to mature and grow up and take care of the family! I look at him and think, very little personal growth...sadly.
