DXO works great with my Lumix G9's whenever I use them in poor light. I haven't tried Topaz denoise with my Lumix cameras . Great that it can work with jpegs . That's very handy . Great skating btw.
If I shot raw more often I’d definitely consider DXO. Thank you for chiming in!
I use mostly a Lumix G9, and you are right, denoise apps make a big difference when the conditions require a higher ISO. After comparing several, I went with DXO PureRaw. It only works with Raw files, though, but my work flow starts with a RAW file, always. One great feature is the Dxo Optical corrections, which does lens sharpening, and lens distortion correction, for pretty much any camera/lens combination one has... their data base of camera/lens combination is truly comprehensive.
Thanks for sharing. Great to know all this. It will most definitely help others to decide what to use too. Cheers!
Hi Marlene: Using the right tools is not cheating! :-) I too use Topaz and I like it. I still shoot RAW however for most of my horse polo pics since I need to be able to pull up the shadows of the dark horses on a sunny day. Kindest, Jack
Hi Jack, Agreed, not really cheating, but I thought the headline might get some attention. Thanks for chiming in! Cheers.
I never shoot RAW. So slow to load. I tried but went back to JPEG. I might try this program. I got to photograph a Cooper’s hawk on New Years. It was great.
Nice! Always fun to see the birds of prey. My favourites.
And I pretty much use the Topaz DeNoise Ai on any bird photos with ISO higher than 800. Sometimes even lower ISO than that, just because I love how it processes the images.
Hi Marlene, it’s good to see what Topaz can do. I thought I was in the minority using only Jpgs, great to know you think they are mostly good enough too 👍. I do think Panasonic’s are superior. I’d love to see your review of the 9mm.
Today I’m picking up my G9ii 😱. I’m trading in my G9 and feeling really guilty as it’s given me 5 years service and we’ve had some great times together, I get attached to my cars too 😆
Whoop whoop! I'm so excited for you Sue! Let me know what you think when you've had a bit of time to test drive it. And it's ok to let the old ones go.... (said the woman who has about 7 old cameras that she never uses anymore). LOL.
I keep my ISO on auto since I'd rather get a wildlife shot with some noise than none at all. And de-noise is a great tool to help with that. I don't consider cheating tbh. Good vid.
Totally agree with you there! (And, I just used that word to get a bit of attention.) Thank you for watching!
I was waiting for a video like yours. Since Lightroom introduced the new AI de-noise for RAW files and I also started using Topaz AI, I can forget about the constant urge to upgrade my camera bodies for the reason of high iso or enlargements . Everything from my 15 year old Nikon D300 to my newer micro 4/3 cameras are all of a sudden in the same league as a full frame camera at hardly no cost at all. The rat-race is finally over regarding hardware. Just spend a little on upgrading the editing software, and you can stay in business for years and years with your old gear.
You're exactly right, Carl! Gives you more money to spend on photographic adventures. Thank you for watching!
If you can cheat, so can I! "Topaz Photo AI keeps improving with each almost weekly update. It's getting closer to the stand alone editor of my dreams! I do wish that Topaz would integrate the Topaz Adjust AI edit panel to make final 'tweaks'. I go back and forth from Photo AI to Adjust AI. If they were linked or integrated, I'd have my one stop dream editor!" And Photo AI and Adjust AI work well with my jpg files saving me time editing selections from my 5,000 photos from Africa!👍😊 p.s. My cheating comment is copied from one I wrote this AM😅.
Hey Jason. So good to hear this from you! I look forward to putting Photo Ai through the paces more vigorously. I don’t think my LR plug-in version is up to the task. Cheers. P.s. Your Africa photos are fab! Epic trip, I’m sure.
personally i wouldnt want to use these tools unless i really really had to. otherwise ill learn the best of my camera's abilities. so far ive gotten several decent bird photos with my 100-300mm Lumix mark 2 lens. itll be a while until i start using them because i havent exceeded my abilities yet. went from a GH5 to a GH5m2 since the EVF dimmed extensively to being unusable in bright sunlight
I only use them when warranted too! I'd rather get things "right" in the camera but sometimes you need a little help. Cheers
i have a very important question: how i get the overly away? when i export my edited video and i watch it i see a overlay like the logo from topaz. does someone know how to fix??
If you buy it, the watermark isn’t there. But for the trial version it is.
@@ImageMaven how much does it costs?
The prices for each are on their website. Big Black Friday sale going on right now. I see Topaz Video for $150. But prices may vary for you as I already own some of the Topaz apps.
Ha, first..😁
Come on…an AI rendition could be fun…maybe taller, etc. 🙂. Topaz a great tool it appears and nice, if you can get on sale! Not quite related: but do you shoot much bird/wildlife video? Last, on the other end…enjoying that 9mm?
Hi Gordon, Haha, I'd love to be a bit taller. Yes, defo get Topaz on sale if you can. I don't shoot a lot of wildlife video. Basically, what you see in my CZcams tutorials. Loving the 9mm. That reminds me, I owe everyone a proper review about it. Cheers!
@@ImageMaven btw…I noted you can get an package deal for Topaz Photo AND video. Look forward to that 9mm review.
I don't shoot enough crappy video to need that! Haha. If I do blow it, I just reshoot. But a friend of mine uses it (they work with other people's submitted videos) and says it's super slow to process video files, but said the enhancement does work well. But on that "review" I definitely won't be getting it as I tend to only buy what I need and will use regularly. :)
its not cheating its competitive edge!
You bet it is!
Hielema sounds dutch…. have you lived in the Netherlands?
My parents were born there. 🇳🇱
There is only one thing that I really, really DO NOT like about Topaz, and that is how it edits and convert's RAW files. It some how messes up the White Balance and never looks how I wanted it. This is not a problem with using JPEGs, just RAW images. I even contacted the owners of Topaz about why the exported images varied so much from the original file with a colour shift, but we could not find a solution.
Wow. That’s not good at all! Thanks for letting me know Frank!
@@ImageMaven You are fine with JPEGS.
.JPG (Fujifilm simulation) + Topaz Denoise + cropping = pretty much the extent of my photo editing. I'd rather spend my time walking and hunting for subjects.
Exactly! I feel the same way. Very similar to my process.
So sorry to hear you are only shooting jpg . With the dynamic range of todays cameras, you are leaving a lot of detail behind
In some situations I definitely would shoot raw, or raw + jpg, but I'm usually very happy with the jpgs I get, as long as I set up the camera correctly in the first place. But I do occasionally test out RAW, just in case I'm missing something, or it's a really important shoot. I'm not against shooting raw, it's just not my first choice. I just don't like having to process every single photo.
Hi Marlene, I now always shoot raw+jpg. I view the JPGs in Picasa and if they are ok I use them. However I always have the raw as backup to bring out detail of dynamic range.
I don't notice any delay in saving both raw+jpg.
I don't save the raw in the long term archive so there in no long term storage issue.
Really? ..that is the comeback... a software!! ..real?? ... ppfff!!!
