Truth to be told, House is *very* empathetic. He does understand people quite well. He just hates seeing them be stupid, when he knows they could be better.

Adams may not have been the best developed character in the show, but I think she gets a lot of unjustified hate.

For house this kindness is just the logical way to get his employee to function to the standards he expects.
But at the same time this is how a cynical bastard like him can process an act of kindness towards someone

Maybe in the earlier seasons, but he does change. He always has empathy, but for some reason chooses to hide it in a shell of sarcasm and weird humour. Chase's stabbing, Wilson's diagnosis, Cuddy's relationship, etc. I'm sure there are more examples

Honestly, she knows House quite well at this point, she probably should’ve asked to see the receipt before she started swinging.

House is one of the best written characters in the history of Television and Hugh is born for this role.

Yeah. He has high emotional quotient and reads people. I wish I could do that and my professional life would not have become miserable..

Yeah even I feel that he displayed just the right amount of emotions, everyone else around him overreacted

Your question seems genuine so I’ll try to give you my answer. I’m your age, and certainly not a medical professional, but I spent most of my 20s and 30s in and out of rehabs and halfway houses. Almost all therapists Ive worked with had me perform something like this, some physical release of pent up emotions. Usually it was hitting a pillow, I’m not sure actually breaking anything (like in this scene) adds anything. However, I think the key is to channel your thoughts before you begin, so you’re targeting the specific pain and not just being destructive for destructions sake. I hope that helps.

Chaos is indifferent, beautiful in its own way.
