  • Most are from Classic Records, but a few from Analogue Productions. Get ‘em while you can. Apologies for the standard CZcams 128 kbps playback.

Stravinsky himself said that Reiner's Chicago Symphony was the most precise and flexible orchestra in the world.

More living stereo videos please! My god, if it wasn't for living stereo how would ever know stereo recordings could sound so good?

I have a number of these that I purchased new back in he early '90s. Unfortunately more of them are in the CD format than on LP since at the time I guess I figured vinyl was dying and digital was the future. Being able to lay that stylus into the groove is a totally different experience, and much more satisfying for me.

The exact video I came to CZcams to find. Made by someone with sophistication and a deep knowledge of classical music. Thank you for the video. Acoustic Sounds purchase has been placed :)

I've got mint copies of the original Reiner Sound, Pictures at an Exhibition, and Lt. Kijie. I guess I was lucky. They sound superb, however I think the re-issues are at least as good ( I have those too). So I listen to the re-issues most the time, so as to preserve the original for the next person after I'm gone ;-), One last thought: I believe the Chicago Sym. Orchestra of that time was the greatest orchestra in the worls and has never been equaled.

Lots of vinyl guys swear by the originals, and Camden pressing$ in mint really can’t be bettered. However, the reissues are magnificent in their own way.

The Classic 45 of LSC-1806 used an earlier and original first master tape they found and had to re-splice.

I subscribed earlier today and had to come back to watch this again. Exceptional video, that should have much more views. Well Done!

Thank you. CZcams takes time to hit the algorithm. Experts say 150 videos, minimum. We’ll keep plugging away. Happily, the magazine gets 7 million page views a year :)

Thank you thank you thank you !!!!
Awesome collection to start with right there, very impressive knowledge.
Was telling myself I need a classical album why??
Love the sound of Duke Ellington's Far East Suite
Started thinking..... "If the Duke's Orchestra can sound like that, what about a large orchestra doing classical music, but where to start??
Its right there on the cover of Far East Suite...... RCA Shaded Dog !!!
Now I know, thank you thank you thank you !!!!
And hope this message finds you well.
    Great video.

Thanks for posting this. Finally some audiophile that can recommend some nice classical LPs. I wouldn't mind CD recommendations as well as long as they are top performances. The dilemma of a classical audiophile is to combine top performances with good recording sound. I can endure Furtwangler's live recording he made during the War because the performances are so so good. One more thing: Bohm's+Berlin Phil 1958 recording of Also Sprach Zarathustra is superior to Reiner's in interpretation .. even Karajan's + BerlinPhil 1969 I believe is better and they both sound magnificent, especially Karajan's (this is Karajan's before he went nuts if you know what I mean). Chek them out on Qobuz. Thanks again.

The flute soloist in Reiner's Isle of the Dead, Lt. Like, and Song of the
Nightingale was the great Ernst Liegl who was the teacher of the great Dorio Anthony Dwyer.

Sounds like Donald Peck’s vibrato to me. He took over from Liegl in 1957. 🤷‍♂️

I bought all the Classic RCA’s as they came out. Some bettered the OGs and some just sounded different.

The P in LSP stands for "Popular" music, whereas LSC was the classical series.
