Thanks for the review. I purchased many records from DG. Unfortunately, their QC is atrocious these days. I purchased last a super special edition of John Williams concert in Vienna. The amount of surface noise is like nothing I heard before from a new record. Inaudible. I lost 100USD right there. Won't trust them again, sad.
@@prokoviev I received my 3rd Bruckner box, an eBay purchase. No overfill disaster like the first two, but too many warps and other nonsense. Thankfully, my arm/cart combo can ride these out without any distortion or loss of pitch. It’s an amazing set. But the Optimal pressings 😳
I bought my copy directly from DG and it is perfect, both the records and the box. I never buy DG Original Source records from any retailers. Only direct from DG. I had a bad experience with one from Acoustic Sounds and decided to order directly from DG as soon as the record is available.

Never have had a problem with DG shipments. The most important thing when ordering is ensuring that the shipping address matches the one used in your credit card. They will not ship to a different address, which is a security measure for the customer and they. They ship fast and the records arrive fast and well protected. BTW, I have already preordered the Karajan Bruckner set.
I buy directly from DG, too, and have not had issues. That said, I wonder if buying from Chad in Kansas or from Amazon might be cheaper. Sorry but I am still not clear: was the box damaged on the vinyl itself?
@@parkermonroe there’s a clip of the damaged vinyl and what’s it’s doing to my cart in the video. The box was dinged, which I showed, because many people are very particular about it, but the vinyl was wrecked.
Hi Anthony. Thank you for your outstanding review, a wonderful balance of enthusiasm and objectivity. I have the 3 symphs on CD. In the 9th especially, you can hear the sound of the Vienna Phil - not just the notes - so the allure of vinyl and your recommendation proved too strong and I swiped buy on amazon at around the 95% mark of the review. One thing I'm not clear on, however, is the nature of the faults with the LPs that you had to return. What should I be looking / listening for when the box arrives tomorrow? Many thanks in advance. The problems with mine were overfill, box 1 4 sides, box 2, 1 side. I had enough from two boxes to cobble together a review. If your cart is bouncing around and distortion, it’s overfill. @@AudiophiliaChannel I've listened to 7th and 9th - leaving the greatest until last. All good, pressing wise, other than a pop, closer to a crack, in the Scherzo of the 7th, and another one on the first pizzicato right at the end of the 9th, which had me leap out of my skin. I can live with that as the price of an extraordinary performance .To my ears, the playing and the interpretation rise to a stratospheric level in that movement, especially in the opening and closing pages, which also makes sense of the way Giulini paces the first movement, which I had thought a bit on the slow side in a couple of places. Beyond beautiful performance of the 7th. Thought that the recording might have kept a lid on the sound of the coda of the first movement, but guess that was Giulini as the 2nd movement climax pretty awesome, as well as the end of the 4th movement. I felt the acoustic had changed in that movement, a bit cooler and more analytical. Amazing records - thank you for the recommendation.
I also returned mine due to absurd amounts of surface noise. I did not bother asking for a replacement since I don't think there is any way of getting one that is acceptable.
Thank you for this wonderful video (and the many others)! But honestly, I don’t see much sense in putting a digital source on vinyl. It´s a bit like choosing the worst of both worlds: the digital sound on the most delicate medium (esp. nowadays). I‘ve given it up. Listening to a well mastered CD with headphones is a great carefree pleasure. But fortunately I‘ve been lucky with the original source albums. The Bruckner 4 Barenboim/CSO blows me away. - Thanks again for the warning and greetings from Berlin, Harry

Sadly I've had to ask DG (bought directly, later number in 1500s) for a replacement - some intermittent surface noise Symphony 7, terrible surface noise record 2/movements 3&4 Symphony 8, warped Symphony 9 . . all different problems so hard to see how a perfect set will arrive next???! Fingers crossed. Disappointing experience - DG/Optimal needs to do better. I'm going to persevere however as loved what a heard despite the problems - a majestic interpretation of all 3.

Steely Dan did good jobs with drum machines on Album Gaucho. But this is a rare example.
