    For young actors starting out it’s a lot to ask for PROFESSIONAL AMAZING QUALITY FOOTAGE like you can do a well lit monologue in your bedroom as a temporary reel until you get some short films or student films....

      Beubeu George sure and do student films in your area for now, like for any teenager that’s completely fine, websites like backstage are good. Good luck.

    This video gave excellent advice on how a reel should be. I'm glad I searched youtube before working on my reel to make sure I produce the best reel for myself possible.

    Earlier this year, I attended the Richmond International Film Festival and had the opportunity to sit in for the FLOW Panel. I got to show Erica Arvold and Anne Chapman my demo reel and it was all out of whack. Finally, I'm spending time to revamp my website as well as all the content on it. I had to refresh my mind on what tips Erica had said. This video definitely helped. In the midst of getting my new reel up and running! :)

    Great advice!! So true that the quality has come up of productions in general so getting high quality footage is more accessible.

    Working on my reel now. I don't feel I have enough (film/character) footage to put a legit reel together but thankfully I'm getting there with the film gigs I'm getting now. So YOU, short, and high quality. I'll remember that. Thanks :)

    agree with everything she says but smart phones these days can have amazing 4k camera quality. Nothing wrong with using that as long as theres good sound to go with it

    Are these Casting directors completely bonkers to expect demo reels with HIGH QUALITY PRODUCTION VALUE from those who are trying to get into the business? Do they seriously think that novices have that kind of money just lying around their house?
    Nuts

    Great information! Is there a particular neutral background that we actors should be using for video auditions, and demo reels? I use a light grey, almost ash color, and a very light pastel green.

    I think its laughable that "self taping" is a no no but footage from a 48 hr film is good... I stopped working on student films because the "filmmakers" don't know how to operate a camera, they usually use an slr with a kit lens in autofocus.

    • @pearlsun8119
      @pearlsun8119 Před 4 lety +2

      It really depends on the teams. I've done some student films that are really great quality and have moved on to festivals. Same as 48 hrs film festival films.
