Victoria 3 Russia starts as one of the biggest nations but today we're going to FORM the SOVIET UNION in victoria 3. Victoria 3 soviet union? It's actually a formable nation in victoria 3. Communist Russia was something I wanted to do since the release of the game but we do it in style with a command economy and becoming the richest nation in Victoria 3!

Finland is free at 30:30 because technically Finland was under a personal union with the Russians with the Tsar as their king and the Finnish given autonomy with limited self government. As soon as the government of Russia (the crown) stopped being sovereign over Finland, their true self-government took over.

Hey Laith, Not sure if you know already but if your having storage issues PLEASE DELETE THE ERROR DOCUMENT IN THE VIC3 LOGS FILES. Mine was over 30 gigabytes! Also dont be worried about file integretity because the game creates the file after every launch.
My error files are under 2 kb
@@IronWolf123 These type of files delete after exiting the game, it just logs errors but from a bug the file repeteadly keeps logging the same error

@@giogio51592 it would be funny if royal families could escape to other countries in the PU. I also wish they would stop it generating a new royal family every time there is a revolt. It doesn't make sense the British Aristocratic revolt to preserve the monarchy decided to just bin the old monarchy and start again.

Anarchy doesn't have votes at all, but you're right I forgot about the political power boost for some jobs. still compared to the others it's pretty flat, no bonuses from wealth or anything, and a base value of 1 pp per person
STOP THE COUNT!
All buildings can be built using the buttons on the bottom of the screen. The first button "Production Lens" allows production of buildings of the Agriculture, Resource and Industry types. The second button "Political Lens" allows production of Construction Sectors, Government Administration and Universities, the fourth button "Military Lens" allows production of Barracks and Naval Bases. And the last button "Trade Lens" allows production of Construction Sectors (again), Ports and Railways. The way to best remember is Logistics through the Trade button, Military through the Military button, Resourcing/Production/Industry buildings through the Production button and Government/Education buildings through the Political button.
Okay? You're just copy and pasting what the tutorial tells you, there's no point to this post.

I only found about the name/flag changes when I formed the United Syndicates of America. I was actually disappointed that the flag changed in my game because I had the 100 star flag at that point and lost it to the change.

18:55 I had the same problem with my Germany run where I was the leading producer in almost everything and having 1B GDP by 1865 and for example I was producing over 30k clothes and had a deficit of 8k and 25k of those were pure exports driving the price through the roof. Whenever I built more, more people would import my stuff. And I know that it is a good thing because having a high demand means you can produce a lot but it was also incredibly annoying.
That’s when you pass protectionism and crank up the tariffs.
Protectionism is *incredibly* helpful when you get into a situation like that. With Protectionism and "Protect Domestic Supply" you get the highest export tariff currently in the game (+20%) and it basically stops the AI from buying it unless you have made it so cheap in your own market that the fact that it's cheap is actually hurting the industry, or the AI *desperately* needs that good and are willing to pay the premium for it. Bonus, you get a bunch of money for the suffering of the AI.
Duuuuude you should totally go for an anarchist USSR or some other country of your preference, but I personally would love to see an anarchist playthrough

Fun fact why Finland broke free, both in the game and in reality. The Duchy of Finland was ruled under a personal union of the Tsar, with a governor to make sure the will of the Tsar was followed. The Duchy was remarkalby autonomus from other regions in Russia, with the Lutheran church being respected, being allowed its own postage stamps and currency, the old Swedish modelled laws, and also allowing a general assembly as the local government (although it wasn't called until Alexander II in the mid 19'th century). Since you abolished the monarchy, the personal union de facto ceased to exist, and the Finns became free. Fun historical facts :)
Click the buildings tab on the left, go to the second from the right tab (forgot what it's called), and click the plus. Every province of yours will pop up with the level of railroad, and you can directly click on them to increase it. This works with "rural" and "urban" buildings as well under their respective tabs. I've always used this method and didn't figure out that your construction method was even possible until like two days ago

27:06 The easier way is through the Market lens (alt+5), which also shows you where you have low market access.
Laith, a faster way to build railways in the future: Click on your economic view, then click to build a railway, and it pulls up the tab screen on the left of all your states and you can sort it by having the most/least railways. sort by the least, and give all the ones with 0 a railway. :) Super easy. I use that screen often. especially to buff throughput bonuses by making sure specific infrastructure you only build in one specific province each :)

@@cubiju9678 The Russian Civil War and the October Revolution are two different events. The whites had little real connection to the Republican government that fell in October, and were largely autocrats looking for something like the Empire to come back.

to build something in every state you can use the "buildings" button and just find the thing you want to build and use the + to open all states
Would highly recommend Anbeeld’s revision of AI mod for more of an economic challenge. You can see in this playthrough that the AI struggles but the mod really helps. It’s legit the most subscribed mod in the steam workshop
The downside is performance (not the mods fault though).
Vanilla my game has an ok speed until the 1910s give or take.
With the mod 1870s and everything is crawling. If anything that says a lot on how inactive vanila AI is
@@Syrnix I think the mod is purely CPU intensive. Got a decent CPU on my laptop but everything else is crap. It runs fine on minimal graphics. Like you say it’s a shame that it’s gone down to the modding community.

27:06 The easier way. Click "Buildings" on the left tab. Go to "Development" tab. Click the "+" (Plus Button) to the right of "Railways". Then add by province by clicking the name. It will show you the available workforce, profit prediction, and how many you have per state. Hope this helps.

when I played germany I had massive income deficit so I just downsized my army to like 100 regulars. But because I had researched trench infantry and siege artillery they mopped the ground with the 800 russian and austrian divisions. I did not even activate conscription
I can't wait for the mods to start rolling in.

Slight problem - if you're going with autocracy as your model for the Soviet Union then you're creating the Western Propaganda version of the USSR rather than the one that had the 1936 Constitution, which is arguably the most democratic constitution of any country ever. It's worth a read.

The revolution itself wasn't violent the Petrograd Soviet seized government buildings with barely a scuffle. The violence came after 10+ White and western armies surrounded the Soviets.

Russia is great for raw resources. Northwest gets 20% lumber throughput. Ukraine gets a shit ton of high value grain farms. The urals get bonuses to iron mines. So much export income.
Obviously a bit late now but going southward into persia is a great option for russia, gets you dyes and opium for days and later on, more oil
